Why 2 parties?

Come on 7X, you know I'm not a "Socialist". I just believe that we need government to keep a lid on the runaway greed of the capitalists, and provide necessesary services to the citizens. After all why did we elect them, to work for us not against us. We dont need 550+ assholes making new laws to suppress us even more than we are with a white house that is trying to take the last remnants of our rights away. Make the assholes work for us. We also don't need to be creating megawealth for the few while cutting the middle class down to the bone. If it takes Government taxes to control this, then so be it. Like the guy that posted that his boss treated his employees well with bonuses and profit sharing because he'd rather give it to his employees that made him what he is, than the feds. If there were more bosses like that, then Capitalism would be a wonderful concept. unfortunately, that is a rare occurence. Most business owners are greedy pricks. Thats from my and all of my friends experiences over a 40 year span. It is worse now than at any time before in that time span.
i think human conscience is superior to the mechanics of law, and we should seek change by directly confronting the issues. begging the professional liars in D.C. to "fix" something is avoiding the issues. people don't have the heart to raise hell anymore.

if your insurance company is trying to screw you, call them and raise pure hell! call the TV stations and raise some hell! email the companies and raise some hell!!

i've done it, my wife has done it and we get things done. we're just two little people and we've changed multi-billion dollar corporations by raising hell. people need to have some heart.

no one wants to get their hands dirty anymore...

maybe you aren't a full blown socialist but you know the drill by now; once the government gets something it doesn't let go until it's completely destroyed. inviting them in to medicine is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

i'm not saying that republicans are perfect, i think the party is in total disarray. just watch the dems, they're ruthless. if someone doesn't agree with their leadership they better keep quiet about it! the flip side is that the louder someone supports the dem leaders the more pork goes to their state.

.
I think this true in both parties, it's a pork fest in Washington on their 3 day work week. I'm still pissed at the Dems for going back on their 40 hr. work week promises.

Politicians and clergy should be forced to take a vow of poverty. This way they can concentrate on serving the people's needs and best interests rather than their own monetary gain.

Both systems are corrupt to the bone.

shame really

actually this is exactly why i asked "WHY". i wasn't asking for a "who's dick's bigger" contest. they did this and they did that. why 2 parties? so we all can have something to fight about? spend all this time arguing who's right and whose wrong. meanwhile nothing changes. so throw some blame. why not just change things instead if bickering about who did what. it's all starting to look like a little childish.

wouldn't it be best to agree on disagreeing. find equal ground then put it to the people to decide?

this country is a war within itself.

i'm into individual responsibility, life, freedom and liberty - the basic human rights.

we need two parties because one is always willing to sacrifice those things on a larger scale than everyone can accept.

i guess i'm still in time out....

well, i'm glad we still have two parties. i just hope one of them will come to their senses soon... or, that one of the others will solidify and route the establishment goons.

i think a two party system is a fundamental flaw. close.cult had it right. politicians will more or less follow the mantras of what every party they subscribe to in order to move up the ladder. So they'll never get to promote an agenda that they want to. Ron Paul and Mike Gravel are pretty ballsy to try but ultimately they're not gonna get anywhere to make a difference.

The only reasonable solution is to disband the electoral college. The reason the democratic and republican parties are so strong is because people feel those are the only two options. with the electoral college that is the case.

without th electoral college i think we would see a spike in people voting but also less people subscribing to the two major parties. It would give voters a chance to really have a voice. You'd see more people saying "republicans; democrats; they're both douchebags. I'm gonna vote ron paul or some other candidate X and my vote will actually count."

If this happened, both the reps, and the dems would quickly realize that they don't have a monopoly on the votes anymore and they would actually have to cater to the voters.
