Wise LED owners/growers.....need thoughts on this light

Eonstar Matrix S Series Grow LED
I can't imagine spending that much money on a light, but that's totally cool. I feel like I've seen the future of grow lights. The only thing it's missing is an exhaust hood to let the extraction fan do the work, with the light's temp-controlled fans coming on only when there's a failure in the extraction. (I.e., failsafe.).

I like how open they are about their spectrum and its layout.

Az2000 actually everything you said is going into my current blueprint for my next light i may sell.

it uses almost a cool hood with a plate of alum with a tapped temp sending unit that when the aluminum gets it x degrees the fan will come on and exhaust the heat out. A fully mount plug and play kit.

testing different sending units, placement, alum thickness, and type of alum at the moment.

building my own never works out for me ................i mess up something or i go over board by the time the thing is done it cost me 3 times as much as it would if i just gotten off the market ....................it took me 24 years to learn this lesson

Sounds interesting! Not long ago someone (AirAnt?) referred me to SolisTek HiLED (<<link). I thought I'd seen the future then too. All white, with user-swappable color temps (as easy as unscrewing a light bub), heat-extraction hood. Now the Eonstar Matrix with more automatic color changes, and you with your hood.

Heat's probably not a big issue for most people. LEDs don't produce that much. But, some of us in hot climates are concerned with even small contributions. I think the ideal light would be

1. Mostly fin cooled (like Astir) but not with heatsinks that would be sufficient for 85-degree ambient temperature, just 70 degree.
2. Then a thermostat fan for ambient temps over 70, when the heatsinks won't do the job.
3. Then, an optional hood for those who would like to extract the heat more effectively, letting the extraction fan do the work, with the light's integrated fans serving as a failsfe.

I think the challenge for #3 would be how to keep the hood/light airtight so it wouldn't introduce odors post-filter.

And then color-temp changing. Maybe a combination between user-replacebale whites and programmable spectrum to control/vary how mixtures of color temperature. Like warm morning/evening, cool mid-day. I think I'd like this more than red/blue/white of the Eon.

I'm probably hijacking the OP's thread. But, definitely interested in seeing your light.

Regarding the advice to DIY, if someone put together a kit they'd make a fortune. A lot of us could do a kit, just not figure stuff out from scratch.

I currently have a diy kit it's fully assembled and just need to hook up a few wires and start growing.

I'm working on a built in timer that in a 12 hr period will act like the sun by turning on\off different spectrums and 700nm at the end to put the plants tosleep.

I use a custom heatsink it almost looks like a high end car amp, all aluminum with copper tubes which fully cools the lights and a fan for if you are growing in small areas or where ambient is 80+.

Smart ideas.....Got pics of your kits?

idea hit me .........why not make a Youtube channel and show it off there..............then make up some trouble shooting videos to fallow (they have to do all those before u will accept returns for work) keep your bench clear of the lose wires and simple things

or even how to build your kit for those that want to go that far for cheaper price (not me)

500 bucks for 900w programable LED
Wow, I'm speechless.

Been thinking of upgrading to a 5x5 tent, this would be perfect.

Do you have a link to the makers you mentioned?

Sweet man, not to say I'm buying that one now, because I'm still in my smaller tent, but that light has shown me what's possible, even though for the time being I'll go for something smaller.

The future of LED's is looking bright.

LOL at least at 500 you wouldn't be so upset when it barely lights up a 3x3.. Fellas, this light is SHULLBIT.. Any... let me repeat, ANY LED company that has to edit their promo photos (see how they actually whited out areas at 2:14??) is immediately crossed of my list..

On a side note, anybody remember that one advertisement that had the light on a 300 ft crane or something, but then the shadows were all wrong for the people on the ground?? Same type of SHULLBIT!

Don't be upset when you need two or three to light your 5x5 lol
the 600w is a 2.5x2.5
the 900w is a 3x3
the 1200w is a 4x4

the point of those are they daisy chain 1 power supply one controller full area coverage plus u can tweak them for UV (i been looking for good leds now for about 5 months daisy chain leds are rare........and the programable ones even more so this is only the 3rd one i know about).........then i like that fan is temp controlled so when is stead and nice the fan does not need to spin on maximum

i was already planning on getting 4 lights odds are would be the 900w for that over lap/over kill factor

You should only need 500 to 600 watts of quality LED to do a 4x4.
that is core coverage ...........the most amount of light ....like if it was directly under a HID

2 300w generic leds are good for a 4x4 veggie tent

600 the best i seen is a 3x3 core coverage at 1 foot above the plant
