I've always wanted to do a vert scrog, but just don't have the room. Your set-up looks really nice, and I don't see why it shouldn't kick ass. Hopefully you can be patient and veg long enough to get your weaving started. I'm guessing it'll be 3wks before you have enough screen filled in the vert to flip. Keep up the good work.
Yeah I just topped/supercropped them as well so that I am forcing myself to wait at least a minimum of another week before considering it... figured if I did something like that one last time I would have no choice but to continue vegging if I know what's good for me. I am installing a 30amp circuit right now wiring the basement, pretty much all that's left is to wire the 2 gang box w/ my 4 new outlets then wire the breaker... first time for this, going to be tricky in the dark when I cut power to the house. (I am going to pull the master disconnect from the service box outside, like the power company would do if you didn't pay the bill... I figure that's my best bet for being safe but this is straight forward and quite easy actually (never done it) but it's obvious if I proceed with caution.

If I make a Grow Journal update this evening, you'll know I survived lol

My biggest blue dream at day 32. This girl comes past my chest in a 5 gallon bucket. The next is an elephant that i got from a dispensary already growing in sunshine mix...so i plopped it pot and all into a 5 gallon bucket with perlite to let the roots grow into hempy reservoir.....it was the same size as my other elephant when flipped. the other elephant is pure perlite in hempy and the buds are half the size.....I may try sunshine mix in 2 gallon pot inside 5 gallon hempy bucket on a few next run to see if they do btter than pure hempy.
You'll see even better results if you take the plant out of the pot and plant it directly into the perlite. I'd also recommend when filling up around the sunshine core when building your hempy, to fill the top 3" with sunshine instead of perlite so the whole top is sunshine.
Benefits - No algae, less evaporation, and you can feel it like soil to tell when it need water instead of lifting the bucket.
Instead of sunshine I use soil the same way, and don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.

So you grow with a soil core in hempys? Yeah i should have taken it out of the pot...i wasnt sure what i was going to do with it..then by the time i got around to it there were lots of roots growing down into the perlite from the drain holes so i just left it.

The plant dead center is the elephant in sunshinesecuredownload-128.jpg. Directly to the right is the pure perlite elephant. Forgive the looks had small amount pm and hit the'girls'hard with greencure...hard enough to get this shit all over lolsecuredownload-109.jpg chunks of dried out potassium bicarbonate

Great looking plant. So jela what nutes you using?
And when you build your buckets do you use perlite to the top of the hole and then coir to the top of the bucket?
And finally what brand of coir do you use, and what prep is done prior to use?
Hi Wattsaver, this one saw Canna Coco A&B with the Rhizo and "Boost" flower stimulator (Typical Canna nute lineup for coco). I don't think its any different than my plants previously grown with GH FloraNova Bloom only using the Lucas formula in the same coco setup which has been the winner for me IMO. I use the bagged Canna coco...powdery soft & moist and needs no prep whatsoever.....I fill the bottom with the larger #3 chunky perlite from Hydrofarm if that is a success factor. My black buckets get a 1/2" hole with fiberglass window screen glued to the outside so that the bottom of the hole is exactly 2" from the bottom. So with a 2g bucket it takes generally 1 gallon per plant when watering (makes mixing nutes easy man). I see a lot about pH here and know it's a concern to you all when things aren't going right but...I have to tell you that this coco hempy method with RO water starting at 8ppm has not been checked for 3-4 grows. It's really that carefree. I do check ppm whenever I switch to a different nutrient or additive and never let things get above 1300ppm with a Hanna checker. BTW my 2 different pH pens never agree (Hanna & Milwaukee)

Yes I do use a soil core. I outlined it in post 95 of this thread, if you want to check it out.

I guess you'll be flooding as long as it takes to drench the whole pot. In terms of frequency I think the jury is still out. My last lot were really neglected and fed every 6-7 days, they came out nice.

I did a dripper system for 70 hempy plants, worked great. .. Only reason I stopped and went manual again was because my height restrictions made it difficult to drain away.
With 70hempy plants how many lights did you have?

80+ easily fits under 2 hoods. .. I have 3.

I'm rebooting. Still very early in seedling stage so won't bore y'all with the details yet.

Just did a Hempy Transplant today... things all seemed to go well, I am mad I forgot to take pics of the rootmass in the 1.25g buckets but now everyone is happy in 5g... how long do I need to wait to flip 12/12 since my root mass is now 5-6 inches above the reservoir again. I assume it will take some time all over again to get them situated? I wanted to flip today but remembered I had to get the transplant out of the way and did not realize how much new perlite would actually be above the drain hole prior to meeting the roots.

Some pics... also a nice HD video of the plants the other day in first post of my new journal (signature) :)

I have 2x1000 magnum hoods. I was thinking I could squeeze between 100 to 120 in a 5x9 tent. Watcha think moebius?

My third hood is a Magnum xxl. cool.

lets do the math ... 5ft x 9ft = 60 inches x 90 inches .... =

each bottle takes up 4"square inches so that = 15 bottles X 22.2 bottles. = 337.5 bottles.

In reality you'll need a lil space between each bottle and space to walk etc. I think you'll want to go for 200 -250 bottles.

Personally with 1000W I would consider a larger bottle (possibly a square one) and some veg time (to use your light power). You'll be wasting a lot of power with 1000W as these small plants just won't be able to use all those lumens.

Good looking out. Personally I think 200-250 2l maybe outside my light coverage (4x4 or 5x5). I'll try 100 to 120 2l's first with my 2x1000's and if I can't achieve a avg of 15 grams then I'll reduce my digital ballast down to 600 along with 600 watt bulbs. Or maybe I might just start out with the 600's and save power. In the mean time im just waiting on my almost one month old holy grail kush, kandy kush, super lemon haze and unknown strain moms to produce more and bigger cuttings. Right now I can probably take about 40 cuttings but I may wait til the moms are about a month and a half or so before I get this party started. I want at least 120 cuttings. I'll keep y'all posted. I may use C02.

Hey Moebius...thks for the invite a while back.

I love Hempy, and it is an awesome world.

I try not let the res get low or worse dry.

For those that do not know:as a plant takes up nutrients the ph will go either up(veg) or down(flower) in the nutrient res.It is healthy for a swing in the 5.5-6.5 ph range.Further out of the 5.5-6.5 range, and certain nutes lose uptake for the plant. My target ph is 6.

I do not check run off ph because when I feed I am resetting my target ph.If the plants show a problem I will ph water flush then troubleshoot, and often it is something else other than salt build up.My long term Hempy moms will receive a ph flush here and there just to extend the time before clone replacement.

I basicly have 3 different 1 gallon tapwater jugs for my nute line up.
1)100% nute solution:This is full strength nute solution that my plants can handle or need during certain phases of my setup. Two of the uses are to feed the 12/12 stretch/bud developement, and for clone site production for moms.
2)50% nute solution:A 50/50 blend of my ph solution, and my 100% solution. Two of the uses are for newly rooted clones, and stasis for moms.
3)ph'ed solution:Just tap water set at my target ph.Two uses are for flushing, and of course making the 50/50.

My preventive maintenance against Pythium is 1-2 drops of Clorox bleach to a gal of solution.I will use a capfull or two of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to my watering cup before feed or flush if needed.I use these on/off,but I am thinking of using the bleach more often for times of higher temps.

I am such a huge fan of the K.I.S.S. method with Hempy, and ease of it's rewards.

Happy Hempy everyone.

Great pics and nice grow Doc.

re, flip time. That's gonna be up to your on site decision making. .. Just know (as you do) In hempy the most effective way is to have the roots in the res before flip. ... I've grown some where the roots never managed to get to the res at all because flowering came to fast and root growth stopped. Still got nice bud but yield was down drastically.

Rocket, 60 2L hempy's under each Magnum at 600 watts sounds very good to me. Light coverage will be more than sufficient. ... I expect your gonna link the hoods together and air cool them. Very very nice .

Re bigger cuttings. Good idea  Mine tended to me smaller than I wanted because I was impatient and took small cuttings. Next time I won't make this mistake.

Ive never grown any of the strains you mention. I do smoke Super Lemon Haze when its about. Fantastic Ganja and sells like hot cakes. Kandy kush is something I would like to try. One thing about Kush strains is that they grow very dense nugs but are therefore susceptible to getting moisture trapped inside. Good air movement and ventilation in your grow space will be essential to avoid any bud rot from appearing.

Great post Dalek.

Im YOYO'ing between both schools of thought on letting the res dry out or not.

I didnt know about the ph swing up/down at veg and flower. Thanks. Can you tell us a bit more about the K.I.S.S method you mentioned.

Things are starting to shape up in my closet. I flipped to 12/12 sunday. Check out the growth between the 14th and the 18th.

Grid (Sept 14).jpgGrid (Sept 18).jpg

The fem PPP from nirvana are the smallest and least vigorous of the plants. They are the three at the bottom of the pictures. Maybe they are most adversely affected by the heat. Behind them are four Papaya from nirvana. The next row are five seeds from a bag of some fruity tasting mid grade weed I had a while back. Overall this strain has been the most vigorous, and number 2 has a very strong skunky smell to it. It is the only plant right now that has a smell other than that of a green plant. The two in the back are completely random bagseed. The container of the one on the right is only half full. Each plant growing in the coco medium (Column far left) are significantly larger than the plants in the perlite/vermiculite of the same strain. Here are some more pictures from yesterday morning.

Nice one Georgy boy.

So are you (and plants) preferring the Coco over the Verm/Perl ?

I'm about ready to start tonight with this Mapito (Rockwool and Coco), I'll do some side by side comparisons too.

Thanks moebiuis I'll definetly add another fan or two for the kush strains. Yes i have a 592 cfm fan to pull the hot air out of the 8" magnum xxxl lights. I've already collected over 140 2l bottles. And have several bags of perlite and vermiculite, just waiting on bigger cuttings. You got me thinking I guess I will start off with using 600 lights instead of my 1000 watt lights. In your setup do you have a subpanel or any electrical work done for you lights. I have a 30 amp subpanel that I use.
