Im thinking of taking like 2 clones from my one female plant..( out of three !! >.<) and putting them in the flowering place for twelve hours when the light is on and then putting them under a really bad light for the other 12 hours. would that work?

ok lol what i mean is that the female i took the clones from is in my growroom with the 400W HPS. because im flowering the light must be on 12 hours and be off 12 hours. because im pissed off that my other two plants (that were bigger) are males ive decided to try have some more plants because i put in too much time and effort for only one female's yeild. So im planning on using the power of the 400W HPS to veg my clones in the morning and when the light has to go off for the big female im want to continue veging my clones just under a crappy cfl. Will it work? and then in the morning put it under the HPS and so on and so fourth until I can flower them.

Durk, I was doing something similar until this weekend. Instead of the HPS, I was putting my babies outside for about 10 hours of good sunlight and then supplementing with 6 hours of CFL light. They are doing pretty good so far and resemble yours, although 2 of mine "stretched" a little bit - attributable to insufficient CFLs earlier on.

sure, they will start to flower, show sign of sex, but the probably won't do well since you all ready state that those lights suck:D
What kind of lights did have in mind for this by the way? old cfls/ floros or what?:-|

sound like a common cfls light, compact floro light, one of these energy saving ones, if it is one of those, you are fine, i veg with those too;)

but for serious flowering those suck, but if you just want to try and learn a bit without gettin much of a smoke to harvest those things are fine too, the indoor grower of the old days started with those lights basically, even if your floros of today are miles away of those they used.

still, a floro gives you max 100lum/W, a MH bulb 120lum/W and a HPS about 150lum/W, that is the thumb rule of it and the reason almost all flower with HPS, since you would need 600-800 real Watts of CFL to match 400W HPS. the is the odd experiment going on with big CFLs, and some nutcases trying to grow with LEDs but i pay to this not much attention, especially not to the LED nuts;)
