WTF is going on!! Wheres the Flower Power?

My plants aren't really flowering. Judging by the thin leaves I believe they are a sativa. I have 3 plants, all look healthy. They are in the 3rd week of flowering at 12/12. The plants were put into flowering at 6 weeks. The plants were healthy then too and were producing the alternating limbs. They were under fluorescent lighting (18/6) up to flower and then I introduced them to a 250 watt hps (12/12) for 2 weeks and then a 400 watt hps. I went from 18/6 under flourescents to 12/12 under hps. I use foxfarm nutes following the label at all times. BTW this is soil grow in huge pots so no problem with roots bundling. The only thing I can think of is light is reaching them but I have been in the room during dark times (which is 8am-8pm) and although I can see light in the distance the plants are not even visible. (if this makes any sense). This is in a secret cubby hole of my attic and due to heat I have the lights on at night time. Also these are bag seed from some killer mids I got in Florida so Im pretty sure it may be an outdoor breed.

Im sorry for the rambling but you guys want me to be descriptive right. Anyways I really appreciate any info you could pass my way. I will put some pictures of shortly when I got something to be proud of.

some take a long time.... but 3 weeks is kinda looooooong. i just had 1 that was at least 2 weeks before it started to show it's first hairs and it's still not "budding".

Thanks that makes me feel better. I do see a couple hairs on 2 of them. Do you think it would be beneficial to increase the dark period by 30 minutes or so?

I'm kind of in the same situation...except mine have been going for over 8 weeks now. What I think happened is that, since you like me turn on your lights at night due to heat levels, the night time temps are higher than your day time temps which is bad for flowering hormones I've heard, but I also heard from a friend of mine that it doesn't matter since it's indoor. The other option, which is what I just started trying since changing the lights on to during the day didnt help much, is that sativas aren't used to the 18/6, 12/12 regime as for indicas, and to mimic their lighting schedule would be closer to 13/11 for veg and 11/13 for flower. So now I cut the lights down to 10/14 to see if that will help them start budding, once they do I'll switch it back to 12/12. It's kinda shitty I know, such a waste of my time. I just wanna see some buds!

no. stay on 12/12. they will figure it out. go into your room when all the lights are off. wait a few minutes and see if you can see light anywhere. if it is a closet close it when the lights are on and turn off the lights in the main room you are in. do you see light leaking out of the grow room. all light leaks must be sealed. if that's not a problem then just continue to be patient. happy growing.

well there is some light leaking in. I was thinking this may be the issue. I can see light from where the plants are yet not enough to actually see the plants. I hope that makes sense. Is this still bad?

It sounds like you don't have any light leak issues, and fdd is right, leave it on 12/12, giving fewer hours of light/day will not help your plants to flower faster.

What you are probably finding is that sativas can take a long time to flower. Say your strain will ripen in 15 weeks. That means that Da Stretch (growth spurt) will last around 40 days. Then you will have around 30 days of flower growth followed by 30 more days for flower ripening.

So here's the good news. If you're on Day 20, then you've only got 85 days to go.

Lol yeah thats the sativas for you need 3 and 4 months to finish.Stick to indicas.Better smoke faster to grow and easier to grow.Keep it 12/12 and its gonna take time.

how can u tell if its indica or sativa in bag seed?
There's no way to tell. If you're experienced enough to identify the type of hybrid by the buzz, that will give you an indication of what the seed may be like. But there's nothing at all certain. That's why they have such a shitty nickname, you know, BAGseed. :blsmoke:
