yet another foxtailing post

I've searched endlessly on this foxtailing issue, and most of the posts result in people saying to generally 'be happy about foxtailing because it is new growth, more growth.' However my issue is, these buds are HORRIBLE! They are half stem, half bud, it is miserable. The plants were looking great up through week 7 of flowering, I stopped giving any nutes at all and flushed, etc. But then they just never ripened and finished, they just kept foxtailing more and more week after week. Finally after week 12 I just chopped them down. I burned half of it in my wood stove because it was so horrible, and the other half is just crappy, not horrible. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong? I know for certain it can't be nutrient toxicity because I stopped feeding at week 7 and it ended up being practically 6 weeks of no nutes at all. Some of these were foxtailing from the beginning, but 70% looked good until about week 8 or 9 and then went to hell from there. Can nutrient deficiency cause this too? Any help would be appreciated as this happens to me every time. My plants look great through 80% of their life cycle and then at the 11th hour they go to hell.

afaik most foxtailing is from genetics and or heat.

Is this one genetic strain? If so I would guess like Itsme that is genetics and you got some shit.

If everything you grow does this it is heat/light overdose.

Nutrients, too much or too little, will not do this.

I guess maybe it was genetics, definitely not heat. This room stayed pretty constant around 80, sometimes 75 when I'm home and can keep the door open, plus I have a fan on constantly. I'm sprouting a different strain now, but I'm going to rip my hair out if they go sour on me last minute.

I've had several sativa dominant strains do this.

I have a 40"x40" space with a dual bulb ballast that can run one 400w hps and one 400w mh. I always keep a good 18" between the bulbs and tips of plants.

80 is kinda on the hot side if your not running co2 imo. I've also gotten foxtailing from hormones, like if I added a bunch of kelp or alfalfa tea near the end of flower.

18" doesn't mean anything, you need to put your thermometer on a stick and position it in the upper part of the foliage of your plants. That temp is what matters, you can cook foliage in 5 minutes or less, it's kinda delicate.

I had it happen to me as well, I think mine was from heat but the smoke turned out to be awesome

I'd be thrilled if mine looked the way that pic you posted does. Mine look like Frankenstein buds.

This is cheesquake and killing fields. The killing fields starts at about 1:17 and you can see major foxtailing.
