Nobody is arguing this point?????
Have you read these threads?? They are chalk full of gun owners who are 100% opposed to any type of legislation. We have people posting here that feel that there should be no background checks, no gun registration, no limits on what types of guns and ammo you should be able to own (in case the US military turns on it's citizens), and that stashing weapons OUTSIDE of your house, not locked up, is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
You have to be kidding.
How many gun laws do we already have in the US. Were all of these laws enacted specifically because they were anti-common-sense?
Connecticut has an "assault weapons" law. Did it prevent Lanza from murdering children?
When you and Buck and Obama say, "we just need some common sense gun laws", what exactly do you mean?
When you look at "common sense gun laws" what you see is gun bans ala New York city, Chicago, and Washington, DC. Rational people look at those enclave of "common sense" and are forced to conclude that all those "common sense" gun laws have achieved the exact opposite of what they claim, they have become bastions of murder and government oppression.
Here is a "common sense" gun law proposal: allow citizens to be armed if they choose to be armed, just like the second amendment guarantees. There are way more sane, safe people in society than crazed, murderous people. Let's stack the deck in favor of sane, safe people.
Let's face it though, the hoplophobes don't really give one shit about "common sense".
