What i like the about the spectrum kings led lamp is NO fans...lots of fins for cooling. Seems to me those little micro fans will fault a few years in . IMO no fans is a better plan. Might buy one to test sometime.
Design flaw, passive cooling isn't enough. Heat is the enemy of LED chips. You don't see a CPU with just an aluminium cooler, it needs air passing over the fins. Spectrum king also lacks the control of the Spectrum(ironic given the name) they're also a company who says their light is X when infact it Pulls Y watts from the wall, effectively making it, say in actuality a 300w light. Im personally a big fan of LumiGrow, they're actually used in horticultural applications in greenhouses as supplemental. In a tent where the height lower, they do amazingly.

As stated the price to pay to play is high but good quality LEDs only experience an avg of 5-10% light loss after 50,000hr of constant use. PAR is where its at. Thats what matters to plants, lumens are for humans.

From what ive read Lumini is a Chinese knockoff company producing LumiGrow knockoff products. i'd go with mars hydro personally, unless you go with the actual LumiGrow that is

My opinion get neither...
buy an led panel from one of the people on RIU like PLC Lighting and three or four others
it will cost more but it will actualy do a great job and the others won't

cobs/lec [chip on board ..are the new frontier and leds are yeaterday..

sure some led panels will grow lettuce not bad ..
but the cobs will grow everything well
all led watts are not the same....[short version]
these RIU guys know what they are doing

and wrong forum...ask your question on the led forum...

and the search engine is your friend..all the best..

Ive been looking into the spectrum king led light for awhile. They did a comparison of 4-6 light manufacturers.

They have 2 different versions both 400w. A 60 degree reflector and a 90 degree. In there test comparison the 60 degree pulled 29ounces(1.8GPW) and the 90 degree did 27.8ounces(1.73GPW) while im looking they did 18.5ounces(.79GPW) on 600w HPS and 33ounces(.86GPW) on the 1000w hps.

Pros
1.8GPW, i wouldnt doubt 2GPW now as they have a 400w+ version.
Low heat
Probably no need for AC
Save hydro
Better for c02
made in USA
3 or 5 year warrenty
Should ROI in a reasonable time.

Cons
CAD 1600$+ per light.
Results above havent been proven besides there own tests (from what i can find)
Seen someone on youtube pull 1lb with bigger plants.

Il pull the trigger on atleast 1 or 2 when i can. Decide for yourself.

I would need to find a way to flip flop LEDs besides making my own power board with relays. I prefer manufacturer.
I talked to a customer a few days ago and it came up he was testing 3 Spectrum King. His words what a POS waste of money LOL

an electrical engineer was suggesting to my buddy that cob's are not where it's at, that it's better to have a dedicated power supply (driver) and also no lenses for the least amount of heat generated / best efficiency. ie it's better to have a driver that generates heat outside the room rather than a driver on each chip. the lenses also create heat.

The best l.e.s. (Light emitting surface)units run about 20% more efficient than ,h.i.d. Lighting..like OMS said check out the l.e.d. Section, lots of excellent info there.
No one cares about efficiency when the start up cost is up to 5x times more for LED's. Besides at 1000W Gavita will out produce an LED any day. for $550 for the ballast/light/fixture. I have a couple customers who get 1.25 per light using Gavita 600W Pro (SE).

It's hard to beat the gavita, 2lbs per 600w is not unheard of, and 3lbs per 1000w. I've seen it done. Matched up with their ev1 controller, it's the cats ass.

Itsme.

Seen these local, how are they in your opinion? these de bulbs are crazy bright
Have no opinion yet as I don't know anyone using them. Only draw back is they are 240-277 only so no 120 :( Having 120 misses put on 1 lighter set ups. Once I get my 240 power brought to the front of the store I'll light them up. I use to light up a 600W Gavita vs a normal 1000W and people are amazed how much brighter they are.
