  • now my bathroom lights and fan dont work and they ran off the 15 amp breaker. but the outlet in the bath still works so at least i can have a lamp for light in my bathroom. so I am at a crossroads. This place is pretty old and built cheaply so I am assuming the cheapest minimal wiring is used throught the building. so what can i do. i cant just add a larger breaker using existing wiring right, I am thinking not. its not like there is a extra space in the breaker box to add another switch. so How can I get the power i need to run my room without burning the place down.
I know I am not getting my security deposit back so drilling some holes thru floors and walls is of no concern. I just dont want to burn the place down.
Can i add like a 50amp breaker and run my own wiring to my grow room. How do I go about doing that without getting an electrician involved.
please throw some ideas my way.thxhttp://asset2.rollitup.org/smilies/weed.gif
okay brick here is my problemi hope u have an answer for me besides shut it down
I live in a town house 2 br up and a bath up and the rest down. there is a 15amp that runs the left side of apt up and down and 20amp the same for the right side.thats it for the whole house (excluding the 2 30amp for the water heater/ w/d dishwasher refer, and all the kitchen stuff) pardon my ignoance are the called breakers or fuses? one bedroom is my grow room. and of course its the left side 15amp. I have 2 600w hps on light mover for my flower room. flood and drain tables so all the pumps andall types of fans.oscilatting, ventilation, air cooled hoods. my veg is a 4'x4' tent with a 400w mh. cloning chamber runs on 4 T5's.
Obviously the 15amp cant handle so I have been running extension cordsfrom other BR..its ugly and low and behold isnt working anymore. something happened and the extension cord coming from my bedroom with the 20amp breaker had a bit of a meltdown, the strange thing is.
He Brick.......can u take a look at my post or my journal entry, .....or wait, I will just copy and paste it to make it easy for you....hope its not asking to much...I am brand new to rollitup....so just a newbie on this site
    Hello Brick!
I tried to pm you in response to your post about not buying the 30 amp timer box from horticulture source, instead have you build one for half. It didn't go through because you have too many saved pms. I REALLY NEED your help ASAP!!! PLEASE contact me and I will give you all the details..
    Thanks!
Hey Brick. I ran a 2 pole 240 30amp breaker with 10-3 wire. My problem is that my ballest has a 240 supply slot and I only have the 120 plug. So can I run a 120 socket on 240 by loading both hot (120) legs to the hot side of the GFCI? The ground would still be the ground, same with the neutral still being neutral. Every time I throw the switch to the GFCI the breaker pops. The only thing I can think of is that you can't cross the 2 120 lines for some reason, but that makes no sense, both legs are 2 different poles. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong
    ?
Brick have I have a question about wiring an exhaust fan.
So here's the idea let me know if it wont work.
I have a C.A.P air 4 atmospheric controller that has separate temp and humidity outlets. The room is sealed utilizing a/c and dehumidifier. what i'm wondering is if i can wire two male plugs onto my fan and have them plugged into each of the outlets. So that the same fan be triggered by either source. making the controller a redundant system to the a/c and dehumidifier.
hi im sorry if you dont like pms but i have a question
i am going to set up a small 6 cfl grow in a dresser with emergency blanket and the cfls are going to be on a power strip on top with y splitters hanging down from the top do you think there is a fire risk?
jeremy. the answer is plain NO. you will have to run a new line from you panel

watsupbud; best bet is to run a new line to a sub panel in your flower room. that is the easiest and more effiecent way to wire any room
hi brick, i was wondering whats the best way to wire up a 6x1000watt light plus timers, fans, pumps etc in a flowering rooom. I kinda want to keep all my wires all in 1 room without having to run extension cords all over the place. i want it to be safe as possible.
I got a question brick? my hot water heater runs on its own 30 amp fuse box. can i split the 240 coming out of the box to run cap 4x1000 light controller and still run water heater? and how? any advice would be cool!
Look at your electric bill. If you mean how many amps you can handle, Go to the panel, it should say how much it can handle.
for a 100 amp subpanel you should run number 2 wire. your ac unit run should be done in number 10.
Hey bricktown!!! Glad your here!!! I live in ca and I am blowing out my room. I am going to run a 2 ton mini-split ac unit 240 volt with a 30 amp max rating, and 4 1000 watt digital ballasts, which I think is about 20 amps at 240 volts. I have 2 other circuits that are 110 volt 15 amps. I will place a sub panel in the room for the 60 amps then run a line outside to a disconnect for the ac unit...my question is what size wire form my 200amp main breaker box to the grow room (I figure no more than 45 ft with turns) and what size wire to the ac disconnect (no more than 25 ft) I was an electrician for about a year (ten years ago), so I have some knowledge but most of it is gone...Any help would be great...Thanks urkelpurple!
Hi Brick, I hope this is the way to PM you. I am going to need your help. I have a one bedroom apt. I am dividing my bedroom in half. I have one 4*3*7 tent for the vege stage. The grow shops have been telling me to go with the 8 tube T5. I wanted to put a 1000 MH in there because I am a previous grower long time ago and that is what I did then. In a month or two I will have a 5*5*7 tent for the bloom. I plan on 6 clones, 6 vege, and 6 bloom. CA legal limit, I am a patient and growing for myself. The bloom will have a 1000 HPS. I am going to cool my bedroom (or heat) with my portable room ac/heater. I will be blowing exhaust out of a window box I built with a gutted window ac unit. I will have additional blowers and fan as I move along. But I want to get the electrical taken care of.

How do you PM at this site?
Thanks for the offer of help with electrical questions it's much appriciated
I have a Breaker on my main board that was for a shower in the bathroom (40amp) its wirerd to the pullcord switch in the bathroom but is not in use , Could i use it to power my lamp and blower fan in my room ...and my extraction fan in the loft ? or is the amps to high ?
I would like to run from the pull cord , Across my loft to a double socket , One used to feed my extraction fan and one spare for a grow box , then run from that socket down into my room to another double socket to power my lamp and blower fan
    Here is a rough diagram : http://i45.tinypic.com/30m9ug6.jpg
I would like the pullcord swith to be a kill switch but im worried that it may be to high an ampage for some of the things it will be feeding and thus heat up the cable and or blast the things connected to it
Any help would be appriciated , and again thanks for taking the time to help us all out
Sup man i dono if u got my PM

But i was wanting to know if i buy a 400w metal halide bulb will i be able to put it into a normal screw socket or do i need all that other stuff that i see these types of bulbs connected to?
I dont want the bulb to blow or anything if i connected to something that i shouldnt

    Thanks help much appreciated
