I'm going to rent a warehouse (roughly 2,000 sq feet) and I own a coop in San Diego. (Registered)

If I wanted to run 12 thousand watt (Hydrofarm 1000 watt HPS) lights between 3 rooms, 1 standing A.C unit at 15,000 BTU for every room, and all my other electrical devices and fans, how much power would be cranking out of there every month and is it enough to cause suspicion to a power company, even if I'm not trying to steal it? I really want to pay for it!

Is this too big for that size of a warehouse? Any info helps!

Hey man, im in need of some serious help. i messed up and thought i got some 12V comp fans. But the dumbass company mislabeled them and they are actually 48V. I was going to just use a 12V converter but i cant now obviously, but could i wire both 48's to an AC wire like an extension cord in series without blowing. my though is that both 48V will draw 96V together. AC is 120, so im either gonna get the optimal output or blow the crap out of them as soon as i plug them in. What do you think i should do?

Hey man, just want to say thanks for being such a big help! I had a question on how big of a sub panel to run from my main. My main panel is outside, so i am just going to run a sub panel inside to make it more convenient and i need to do some other wiring in the room i am using too. It just makes sense to do it that way to me. Kind of a pain but it needs to be done. I have a 200 amp main which with the size of my house i could get by with a 100 amp main. I plan on running around 1600 watts of light, 2 494cfm inline fans, 4 inline fans half that size and a 1200 btu ac unit?

How goes it? I have a ? I came home yesterday and my lights were out The plug I used was under a ceiling pipe. I assume the pipe dripped on the plug and tripped the breaker. I have since added a A/C unit and have gotten my humidity and heat under control. I wondered could that have possibly started a fire? Or does water drops just short it out? Very scary. hey i traded for a digital greenhouse 400 watt digital electronic ballast its 120-240 imput volts 50/60hz 3.6 amp/120v 1.8 amp/240v i cant get it to work. looked at the cord and on the end of it it says dif amp/v specs will that cause my ballast to not work? if so can anyone tell me the kind of cord i need to power it

Yes, its called a sub panel. If you google sub panel installation it will walk you thru it.

hi there i had a couple of questions and i am not very knowledgable about electrical wiring. My main problem is that i have a 120 volt house circuit and i need to run almost 4 to 5 thousand watts and i dont understand how to acheive this without replacing the wiring because it will obviously be too small to handle the load. Is there a way or system of easily bypassing the house circuit/wiring with a heavy duty electrical cord and a secondary breaker/fuse, i simply have no knowledge of what methods/systems are used to solve this sort of a everyday problem.

Harras, sound like an ignitor, I recomend upgrading to an electronic or digital ballast. They are allmost trouble free and those magnetics are now just about obsolete.

Do you have any idea what might cause a magnetic HPS ballast to sometimes not start ( usually after a couple of attempts the light comes on.I have 4 1000 watt light plugged into a relay which is plugged into a timer. Allthe other lights seem to work o.k. .Is there any troubleshooting I could do?

hey man i was wondering if you could answer a question for me ill be setting up my grow room inside a cabin with a breaker box not sure if its to much to run 2 1000w lights with fans, do i need to do anythins special or can i just plug them in and grow u heard you dont want that much electricity on 1 circuit

First timer here. Thanks in advance for the help! I have a fairly large system considering this is my first time, but i didnt relize i was maybe in over my head untill yesturday. I bought a new 1000w light, bringing my total up to 3 x 1000w HPS. I am still a few weeks from setting up, so just for kicks i decided to plug it in and turn it on in my room. The breaker flipped immediatly. I relized it was the same breaker I am running 2 computers on. If two computers and a light tripped it, Im wondering what 3x1000w + A/C unit + pumps + timers + C02... ect is going to do. I figure at best I will have two breakers dedicated to the room I am trying to use? maybe just one.. How do I run all these items using less power, or how do I direct other breakers to my room in order to expand the possibilities?? Super newbie here any advice would be great. I am slightly electric savy.

I never considered, until reading your thread, adding my power consumption. My room is on a 15A 120V circuit, while my two 600W electronic ballasts are running, that leaves 600W which should run safe on that circuit, if I'm correct.

so im thinkn bout gettin my grow setup started bout dont know much bout electricity and wiring etc. anyways, starting off with a sealed flowerin room hydro, 2 600W HPS on light rail (maybe upgradin to 4), a/c, dehumid, couple fans, carbon scrub 24/7, multi-function controller, co2, couple pumps etc for hydro. how should i go about electricity and wiring? call electrician and have room wired for "couple pinball machines" or what?
