8oz?! Deeezam! I'll check out his grows. Thanks for the info. I don't see the like button or +rep button that everyone speaks of but I think it may be due to me only being newly active on the site

I think the +rep button is gone, but there's still a Like button. You'll probably see it next time.

It's algae dave.............your perlite is staying moist under the leaves, maybe your cycles are too frequent???

good luck and be safe grower.......... nice panels BTW.............and LSD definitely had no couchlock effect on me, but it definitely varies per user imo...

So what do you do about algae growing on the grow medium? I set the fan to oscillate, which had been just blowing on the front of the plant where it looks clean. Turned up the fan speed, too. And trimming off the low leaves will probably help. The cycle timer only works the pump for 10 min every 2 hours, so I don't think that's the problem. It was probably the low leaves and lack of air flow that caused it.

But do I need to spray something on that crud to kill it?

Edit: I'll wait and see if the Neem oil works and then break out the H2O2 if necessary. :fire:

Sorry Brother I Missed the PoonTang Remark?? If I Don't Cover Up My RapidRootersI Get Algae On The Top Of My RapidRooters When I Add Nutes. In The Past I Combated This Problem By Covering Up My RR As Much As Possible And I Added 5ml Of H2O2 Per Gl

Thanks, Mr Dawg. I was wondering how much to concentrate the H202. I have some that's 35% in the bottle. Is that the stuff you're talking about or the regular drug store strength?

What do you cover your RR's with? Is that to keep light from shining on them?

Sorry your answers led me to ask more questions, brother.

I've heard you refer to your way of germinating seeds using a 1/4" tube somehow... Can you describe it briefly? I thought I was doing it ok with the heat mat and tray of water.

So far it's working, maybe a little slower than it could...

I wasn't aware I did things oddly...lol. That Rapid Rooter is new to me, but I've always soaked my seeds for 24 hours, then just planted them. They start out floating in the water, but if they don't sink after the 24 hours, they are no good. I would murder anything sprouting in a paper towel when I went to move it. What do you do, Dawg shoot them into the Rooter like spit-balls from across the room? :P

The algae is already clearing up where I sprayed the Neem oil.

Before:

After:

But I also added about 25 ml of 35% H2O2 to the res. Then I filled a spray bottle with some res water and sprayed it on the algae.

My Tahoe sprout looks strong:

It’s even growing some leaves already. Big improvement since yesterday.

My seeds usually sink after 8 hours in water, but if they don't I just chalk it up to air bubbles clinging to the seed. I'm sure that Mr Dawg has a cool contraption that he built for sprouting seeds super efficiently. I'm dying to learn about it too!

Sometimes they do continue to float, but if you disturb them the tiniest bit, they sink. Like Dave said, most will sink after 8 or so. I have only ever had 1 that didn't sink, and I pitched it. I read this long ago, and cannot remember where, but I think it has something to do with the seed not absorbing water or something.

I just find it interesting that we all have so many different ways of doing things - - and will rip a good idea off ALL of you when I see it! :finger:

Edit: I USED to do the paper towel thing. It's just not cool to do the things I did to sprouts. Think Michael J Fox playing Operation...
