You need a Meanwell driver with this designation on it: HLGxxxh-Cxxxx, these have the high voltage ranges needed to run the V1 QB324/304

I'm running a single QB324 V1 on a GHL185h-C1050 for about 120 watt. A 185h-C1400 would take you to the max for this board, 160 watts. And this driver last i checked was still only about $52.00
I'm not totally understanding. I plugged my hlg320h-c1400a into just one board. At full power it can hit 190w but turned down its at 65w. Will it hurt/be safe to run from 100-160w depending on stage of grow with this driver?

@booms111 -- just because it can, does not mean it should. You're running 114 volts thru a 110 volt board. Chances are it will be okay if you keep it turned as low as you can crank the dimmer down. Whatever you do, do not try and turn the light up -- too much of a chance to fry a good board over the cost of a cheap driver.

The specs of the driver say your probably running your board over voltage, although I suspect there is a little more headroom than the specs say. In other words, it will work but you may damage your QB

And the drivers spec chart is easy to read it has columns that tell you the operating current, the minimum and maximum voltage available for each model etc.

Like @pop22 points out, there's a large chance you could damage this board. If you're doing this, I would not use it this way for long. As @pop22 suggested before, put a few bucks into a cheap driver. Better yet, get one with a higher mA rating to get more light from your board for larger future harvests.

I really don't understand the mA stuff, hooked up to 2 324 v1 boards it can push them at 380w if I turn it up. When I used them before I just ran them at 320w though. I'm not concerned with yield with this tiny side project its just to run through some seed stock quickly. I'm just going to run both boards together turned down to 125w total. Thanks again for help!

Thanks @2com for enlightening me on that -- still reading thru it. A little info I've pulled as a take away so far -- it seems that these came out around October of 2018 (so they're brand new), and to hang them I watched in one video where one guy just bent the long corners of the long heat sink fingers back and curled it over to hook on with with a wire carabiner set to his ratchet set. Good idea. These look like really powerful lights. Would love to run two of them on one HLG-480-54 driver (I assume parallel is the best way to reach for the higher mA). They look like little power houses and seem to be awesome with those far red's added in too! Wow

In addition to a pair of 288s i also ran a 96 Elite v2. They are indeed little powerhouses. I was only running mine at around 100 watts on that run and it was still exceptionally bright.

I currently have a qb260 in a 3x3 and I was just thinking how much more even my light spread could be if I were to cut the heatsink into two pieces, so I could position the boards apart. However, I don't have a good saw, just a band saw. Do you think it would be possible to cut the QB260 heatsink with a band saw or would I just fuck everything up trying to do that?

That sounds like a terrible idea -- mostly from the board standpoint, too much to go wrong. The heat sink of course is pre-drilled for the board but I'd be more worried about board damage in one way or another. They are wired in rows and meant to run at a certain wattage, amp, and voltage range.

It might be a better idea to determine what size driver you have and spend a little extra on another board with sink combo.

Bingo. If I can cut the heat sink I think it would be fine, I do have a file attachment for my drill to sand the edges so they are nice and smooth again. I'm just not sure if the heatsink metal is too thick to cut with a hand saw..

After examining the heatsink again, I came to the conclusion that having to cut against the fins makes this a dumb idea and I will leave it be bongsmilie

One of my new favorites ... Blueberry Blast
( Blueberry x Johnny Blaze ) .... cut at week 10 . I did not wait for any amber , all cloudy.
Trich count is high and the sweet berry smell is like a jar of jam. Decided to do a light trim
“ in pot “ to limit a lot of handling .... actually used a chopstick to bend buds so I can snip leaf ... lol.

I am not very familiar with the Johnny Blaze side of it but heard it may be a DJ Short side , NL cut.
But more importantly, this is the plant that rodelized and threw some beans. They are showing mottled so I’m gonna initially hang over a mesh screen to catch any drops ( so I don’t lose the seeds ) . And will break down larger colas during the dry.

RH here in the west has been a bit higher because of the goddamn rain that’s been on and off for weeks. So drying time will be longer .

She is a pretty girl and really happy with her. She will be jarred for a good 3 months just to let her
get as good as possible in cure before even thinking about trying it. Luckily I have other shit to smoke and juice.

( run every other day starting week 6 - 8 )
Agromax 10000k finisher ( run together with uv )
( ran solo at week 9 til harvest )

Side note : QB 96s are no joke , hella bright and love them . I gonna grab another set .
