I understand the frustration I feel it myself . But first the system is not in good working order - it's been corrupted by thieves and liars for quite some time . Any good thing can be ruined , once ruined we can all say its no good now . If it were functioning they way it should we would not be at odds with it . But under a completely socialist government when the cops came to my house last week they could have just shot us all , stole everything and maybe raped my wife with little to no consequences . It would have been much worse . Things in this country have gotten so far away from the way they were designed to be it is terrible . What is terrible about it is what they have done to it . It's been perverted and twisted and taken from us all that remains is an illusion of media propaganda . I don't have the exact answer but I feel like we are all being screwed by greedy leadership and am tired of it .
Sorry, I have to call it. Pure cold war sentiments. Stalinism and socialism do not mean the same thing. Not that I am always inclined to defend socialism, I'm just inclined to defend truth and science, especially as it pertains to history. The rest of your argument is basically a mirror of this concept, you are saying that I should not throw out the baby with the bathwater. I'm not against Free-market -- yet -- I'm willing to be convinced by a cogent argument. All I see so far are different variations of "just have faith". NO!

Faith is a very different thing from what I am saying . Some things have to change and the only way that happens is through personal sacrifice and a lot of hard work . American people as a group (majority) seem to me to only want enough freedom to be comfortable . While there are many who would do the work and make those sacrifices it is apparent that there are not enough and they are not organized . Where are the true leaders ? That is what we need - not these scoundrels that are in position now . Social programs are corrupted - take social security for example , paid into by hardworking people all their lives working , paying taxes , contributing and when they retire they get the shaft . My grandparents were called gap babies - born between 1913 and 1917 , both worked all their lives and paid into the program . They got letters for over 20 years telling them the Social Security Administration had shorted them cash benefits of $15,000.00 They never got it , just letters of promise . Where did the money go . What kind of government would do this to it's citizens ? I am all for social programs that work and are not corrupt - I love helping people and learning new things and do not wish to argue at all if you have something to share please do so . I believe you to be a person who is sharp about things and while we may feel differently I respect you and your ideas , I also believe that different ideas than my own have tremendous value . What if everyone was the same , same ideas , same thoughts , same everything ? It's our differences that make us who we are and give us character . In the past I have advocated for many who were unable to for themselves due to handicaps , illness and disease as well as homelessness , gun rights ,civil rights and freedoms both listed in the Constitution and not . I myself have a brain injury which was recieved in the service of my country for which recieve 0 compensation . It is not my belief that opportunity should exist for only the exceptional , wealthy , or gifted . There should be opportunity for all those who reach out for it . Don't know how to go about it for sure , just have some ideas . Would like to hear the ideas of others including yourself if you are willing to share them .

I talked with a branch of Working America.

And they...Aren't what I expected.

Occupy has to abandon it's own roots to succeed.

They don't have a clear list of demands but at least they're off their asses and doing something to combat the rampant corruption.
That's the thing.
No...They aren't.

Working America is...Not what you think Occupy is, and they RUN Occupy.

Occupy must abandon it's own roots to succeed.

If I understood what the OWS types want, then I could make a better judgment, but, in general, I like the rabble rousing they cause because it pisses off the powers that be.

They seem to want to rack up $100K in student loans to get a degree in theater and then be forgiven those loans. Seems kinda selfish to me.

Then you don't understand what they want.

1. Working America, the company that PAYS Occupy to exist. Is a canvassing, lobbying group, that works towards unions rights, and other stuff.

2.The OTHER Occupiers were homeless people, and people that can't get jobs or AFFORD college, not people that WENT to college, and did theater...

Video from the Big Apple 1-29-12
At the end of the video a journalist is detained, threatened with arrest and told to leave.
He tells the journalist to wait till morning, and take pics of birds in the park instead.
I got his bird right here. :finger:

I think most people are pretty over this whole "occupy" nonsense by now. Vandalizing and acting fools because life is "hard". This went from hopefully the next great revolution to the Biggest Losers in about 5 months. Pathetic now.

They were co-opted by the unions almost immediately after they started. They received hundreds of thousands in donations. They became that which they despised.

and where did they stick these donations? Did somebody say Wells Fargo? Hah... you can't make this shit up folks.

I think its insane!!! Get a life so you can worry about ur own finances and stop worrying about the '1%' who cares if they have billions or how they made it...if you spent more time thinking about your own money you could have billions of your own...philly has been dealing with this hole occupy movement and in my opinion I think it is a disgrace. we have people living in tent cities going to the bathroom out in the open on our side walks. to deal with these bums living on the street the city has to put more officers on overtime and they had to hire aditional police officers...sounds to me like more harm then good if ur worried about our city debt...

I really dont think corruption within the government has any big factor in our nation's debt. we have been in multi front wars for over a decade..a single day at war cost us millions way more than any crooked politician can pocket. bring our boys back and stop handing our money out to other countries like we are doing good like we're not in debt and worry about our own problems with in our country.

They were started by those that they despise.

Occupy would have been great if it came up by itself.

But it didn't

It was started by an ORGANIZATION called "Working America"

The people not associated with the payroll of "occupy" but that are "Occupying" are the real protestors...
Everyone else is paid to be a warm body standing there...Until Working America gets what it wants...
