What size pots are you using drock?

Well here's the newest updated pics... sprouts in cups are on day 2, also another cup under a CFL on my top shelf that has yet to sprout... sprouts in Jiffy pots are about 9 days old, showing a little progress each day with some more watering.

First pic is of my first healthy sprout from the cup method. I feel like my leaves have been very small compared to everyone else's... this must have something to do with the Jiffy pots because these leaves are better. There has also been better quality water during this grow though.

The second pic is of the 'fam.

The third pic is of this crazy little bushy sprout I have. Where's the stem???

3-gallon pots. I heard somewhere about 1-gallon of growing medium per 1 foot in height. General rule of thumb im sure. I usually harvest around 3-3 1/2feet tall.

ahhhhh now we're cookin with gas!! the 1 sprout in the cup looks just like mine do after a couple days. The bushy sprout looks Really good too. Something to think about.... maybe toss your struggling sprouts from the jiffy pots. The trouble they are having now will just further complicate their growth. The 2 other cup sprouts are already the same height, which shows MUCH better health. Healthy plants are ultimately what you want for clones anyway. Shouldn't lose any time since the new ones are doing so well. Just a thought. It sucks i know but might be better off in the long run.

But the bushy sprout is IN the jiffy pot.. keep that one and toss the other? I only have 2 total in the jiffy pots as you can see from the second pic.

nevermind then because i think it looks good. Give them another week or so then see how they compare. maybe they are just slow starters

Ok! Finally some noticeable progress. My newest sprouts are doing wonderful. I've learned from my mistakes from my first attempt 3 weeks ago and everything seems to be unfolding as it should. I've included several pictures of my new sprouts. I also made the transfer (tonight) out of my Jiffy pots (NEVER USE THEM!) to the blue cups. Hopefully the plants will take, I think they have the opportunity to be healthy and the little bushy one I'm kinda partial to. Anyway, here are the newest pics, tell me what you think!

Wow! I can't believe how much healthier my 13 day old plants are looking only 16 hours after transplant! They have sprouted new leaves since then and seem to be IMMEDIATELY taking to the new soil from the transplant. I am very happy about this. Look at the last pictures I posted (the 2 plants in the Jiffy peat pots) and look at these ones. The light burn from the other plant has since been resolved and it's new leaves are getting full and healthy. yay! Just one question... the little bushy guy in the first picture... doesn't he look, odd? I dunno. Thanks.

lookin good. Last night i set up my flower room with the 250W HPS and let it run overnight so i could record the temp/humidity. This morning it read a min/max of 74/83F 44/47rh. Babies deserve a treat, so i put them under the light for the day. Tonight i took similar readings, shut off the light, and sealed the door with a black contractors trash bag. The lights arent coming back on until Wed morning for their new 12/12 cycle. I soaked some new donated dank seeds last night also so tonight i got them started between wet paper towels in a plastic left-over container w/ the lid on. Put them in the warmest closet in the house. So the cycle begins again but with half the wait.

looks like that odd plant grew a fourth leaf on one side to replace the jacked up leaf. Who knows. Watch to see what the next set of leaves look like at the next node.

Welp... day 16 for the little guys. Seem to be showing some nice progress, I have some Grow Big on the way, I plan on introducing the nutes soon and transplanting in about a week and half. My newer plants seem to be doing well, just taking their time and establishing a root system I'm assuming, but their much bigger at this stage than the older plants were, so I'm happy about that. What does everyone think? -d.oz

im doing some guess work here since i dont KNOW the lumen or wattages of the different bulbs youre using but here goes:
65W Fluorex = 4500lumens
24" grow bulbs = approx 22 lumens per watt =800 lumens total (guess)
24W CFL = 1700 lumen (guess)
48" Fluoro = 2 x 40W x 22 lumen/watt = 1660 lumens
42W CFL's = 4 x 2700 = 10800

so we've got a redneck calculation of around 17500 total lumens.

I would say that is PLENTY of light to grow some strong plants through veg. I wish i had a camera so i could show you the 5 i just put through 5 weeks of vegging under (4)- 40W x 48" fluor bulbs and (2) 42W CFL's. They grew to a little over 12" tall with short internodes, and HUGE fan leaves. Some nearly as big as my hand now after only 3 days of flowering. Now they are under a 250W HPS.
P.S. looks like 3 out of 5 so far are FEMALE... 2 undetermined still

is that space about 3'x2'x8' tall? If so, a 250W HPS would be Ideal for you for flowering. I hear ya on not wanting to run a HID light but its only one chord and socket to deal with and not much more, if any more, heat. You're running in the area of 350-400 watts of fluor/cfl's vs 250 HPS.... whats the electricity cost difference? I dont know but maybe thats a concideration too. I was JUST AS determined to do all fluoro's but i have to tell you from experience now.... only dealing with wiring/hanging the 1 light for flowering is nice. And the growth is so health and vigorous its almost scary. Im still using the 65W Fluorex for my seedling/vegging. 1 light/fixture for each stage is the way to go in my opinion if youre looking for simplicity.

Yeah I was considering getting one. Just not sure quite yet. You need to buy a camera... think of it as another piece of growing equipment you have to buy. And yes a small HPS light would fit perfectly in there. I just need to figure out what I'm going to do about ventilation.

Well, tomorrow my two larger plants turn 3 weeks old. I have just transplanted them into 1 gallon pots and into their new grow room. This room stays much cooler and hopefully will help my plants get over their growth hump by introducing more concentrated light without the added heat. I am getting some Grow Big tomorrow and will be introducing it to my plants gradually. Below are the pics of the setup, complete with the new home for the smaller sprouts, whom I'm hoping will take off soon.
