BTW...I picked up some fox farm oceans forest soil today. I'm ready to transplant as soon as I know who is female :). I bought 8 3 gallon pots....soo....hopefully they are all girls! :) Man these babies are looking good. I'm happier than I don't even know what!

Ok...today is the beginning of our 32 hour dark period @ 12PM. I just gave our friends a plain water watering and changed the timer. The timer is set to 11:59AM ON - 12:00PM OFF. The lights are on now, so they will go off at 12PM today and stay off until 11:59AM tomorrow. I will set the timer to its 12/12 configuration before 11:59AM tomorrow...meaning...I'll reset it from 11:59AM ON-12:00PM OFF to 8PM ON - 8AM OFF. I will also change the bulb from MH to HPS tomorrow when I set the timer to 12/12 Hopefully this 32 hour dark period will jump start flowering.

The tallest AI was 14 inches today and the tallest papaya was about 11. The other taller papaya's are around 10 inches (minus the runt, which is about 4 inches). All AI's are 12 inches or taller. I'm actually interested in how the runt will grow being started on 12/12 so early. I read about people doing 12/12 from seed, so this will be interesting for me :).

Let's hope for girls!!!

I got the timer set and the bulb changed from MH to HPS. We now just need to wait for Friday @ 8PM for our first 12/12. I can't wait to weed out the dudes and run with the ladies :).

Good times are ahead.

thats something you dont do everyday... change the bulb!

have you given any thought to growing a male with a single cfl and making a seed bud? i think that would be great Return On Investment... and its not too hard.

I saw how you were doing that and it did cross my mind. Is it working? If so, I may try it. It might even be cool to have an Aurora Indica/Papaya cross!!! That would be...Northern Lights+Afghan+KC33+More Afghan....oh delicious.

ROI is important. :):weed:

I tell you what, that HPS is so bright it's ridiculous. It's crazy how much more bright 50,000 lumens (HPS) is from 30,000 lumens (MH conversion)...wow. I can't even take pictures with the crappy camera anymore because of how many 'light waves' I get in the camera display!

Anyways...the 32 hour dark period went without a hitch and we are now on a 12/12 light schedule. I was there when the lights first came on and all the plants' leaves were pointing straight up. I would have thought they would have been droopy, but, they weren't. Weird.

I gave them all a good watering with 2 tablespoons of Big Bloom (low dose) and 1 teaspoon of Tiger Bloom (also a low dose) to a gallon. I'll start upping the dosage of fert's in a week. I didn't want to over do it since they are still young, especially the runt.

BTW, I noticed the start of a preflower on one of the plants. That's good and it's bad...good because things are quickly working...bad because a preflower this early probably means it's a male...and...this is one of my favorite papaya plants (tons of branching/bud sites and it's the stockiest one). I'll be bummed if it's a dude...but hey, it's just the start of a preflower...maybe it WILL be a girl after all!!! Maybe she just wants to show us her hairs...rarr.:weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::joint::joint::joint::joint::joint:

Here's a couple group pics during the first 12/12. More pics, including individual plant shots, to come on Tuesday's Weekly Pic Update. Enjoy the lovely red pictures....mmmmm High Pressure Sodium. It's autumn my little friends...time to bloom and become young ladies.

Wow...thanks man. Hopefully I can make it to the end and not have to grow again for a long time. This is alot of work... fun, but alot of work. I hope to get a good enough yield to last me a long time. That's really the big reason I decided to do this. I'll box all my gear up at the end and store away for a future time, hopefully a year or two down the road.

and moving on... great job!!

i wouldn't be too worried about that preflower being male, from what i've seen they come on in there own time (sex), but i could see the growth/veg differences but i haven't nailed it down even a majority of the time, so to say, size and timing could still be a myth, in my eyes.

i'm glad you were there for the first moments of light- that was smart and a wonderful time i bet!

they look like there going to be little monsters. good job again!!!!!

i feel as if i want to pruise through your first thread again.. but really i gotta go do some chores.

Thanks for the encouragement about the pre-sex. During 'morning time' I am going to take another peek for any signs of gender. We shall see soon :)

I agree, I think they are going to be monsters to. I can't wait!! I can hardly contain myself!!! :hump::hump::hump:

Let me know if you find anything reading through the thread :). I've stuck surprisingly close to my original plan. The only major difference is I went with poly plastic instead of mylar...a very good choice in my opinion.

Thanks for the complements!!

Thanks Kevin. No, I haven't smoked Papaya...and I sure can't wait till I do!

I also hope to have enough for a year, like you. I figure...I smoke about 6 oz of good bud (sensi) a year, and man...that is a lot of money.......hence this papaya and AI grow. Giving away so much money for a plant that just naturally grows is crazy. We all know what makes sense when it comes to that......
