My RubberMaid CFL Grow!

Thanks man, I'm still deciding between the 250 and 400. I want dence buds, But would it matter anyways between the 250 and 400 since it's limited to such a small space...I'm limited to my rubbermaids. and dont want to create any high temp problems in my grow case. Suggestions? Would I still get some dence nugs since the 250 is confined to such a limited space? It honestly is 10 dollar difference with shipping... help? I'm leaning more to the 400 then anything.
Ok here's the deal. Since you are limited to your rubbermaid tubs. The 250w HPS would be the most ideal only because less heat it would produce. But if i was buying i would go with the 400w because you can always dissapate heat with more ventiliation and ducting. You can always upgrade your grow area in the future too. If you are like everyone else on these threads its because we all share a passion for growing Marijuana. So I would bet money that after this grow you will be like me and say to yourself "I did good that grow but i know i can do better next grow." So you go and you get better lighting, nutes, additional grow tents, meters, this goes on and on till you have your perfect purpetual grow. THis is my last and greatest hope. To have the ability to harvest every 2 weeks. I think I have the beginning of this set up just need to work out some issues with heat on the bulb in the grow room which doesnt seem to pose that much a problem due to the fact i just need some air ducting and some inline duct fans. But I digress. For your nutes. I honestly dont know what is good for soil grows. I do know that using GH line of Micro,Gro, and bloom work. They work so well that for my current grow im using it again.
I hope this helps.

Peace and positive energy to you.

Question for the experts..., is it ok the veg with a 400 watt HPS? Without MH. And What are the benefits with using MH to not using MH and just using HPS?

I got this one buddy. It is completely fine to grow your cannabis plants with a HPS Blub during veg. The only downside to this is that your plants might stretch slightly more than they would if they were under T5 florescent, CFLs, or MH bulbs. I have seen grow journals that started from seed with HPS systems and their yield was just the same as if the plants had been under a MH bulb.

Peace and positive energy to you.

Thats what I was reading alot today on, was how it would effect the yield. If it isn't much of a difference then no point to spend the extra 30$. TM I'll be putting my order in for my 400 HPS!
Thanks Brotha'

No worries my friend.

Just remember that during the first few weeks when your plants are still seedlings that they do not require alot of light. So a 400w HPS at a close distance might fry the little babies. SO just veg the little ones under CFLs or T5 flourcents until they have at least 3 or 4 established nodes then throw them under the 400w. They will be robust enough by then to handle the increased amount of light and heat. Heat will be a big problem with your set up. But you seem to have that under control. Props for that. Looking forward to seeing your grow through till the end. Keep up the great work!

Def man, Mad props for all the help and advise given, Much appreciated. I'm building a veg rubber maid with my old cfl's. I figure might as well have a veg room to keep a mother in to cut clones off of. I'll keep my little seedling clones and mothers in there. I also will be buying 2 inline ducting fans once i receive my 400 HPS to add more ventilation to my Flower Rubbermaid. Heat hasn't really been and issue, But I'm def gunna see a big change in temps with this 400, As long as i got my fans going I think I'll be fine. My set up is a real banger and runs great! Thanks for the comment! We will see once I add this 400! Wish me luck! One Love

One More question are MH TO HPS CONVERSION BULBS ANY GOOD? or even worth my time? I mean I've got cfls already....
Also with this 400 in a 35 gal rubbermaid, what do you think yields would be for a soil grow? Per Plant.

Conversion bulbs are great for vegging. I have a 600w HPS system and it could handle a 600w MH conversion bulb. I might be confused to what you are you talking about. Is it the effectiveness of Conversion bulbs compared to CFLs? If that is the case either one is fine its just the conversion bulb will have to be futher away from the growing seedlings compared to the close vacinity CFLs can get to the plants. They produce similar results in either situation. I prefer CFLs but I have been toying with the idea of buying a conversion bulb and vegging under that instead of CFLs.

Peace and positive energy to you.

the effectiveness of Conversion bulbs compared to CFLs? Was my question., ah ok so they do have the same effectiveness. I was wondering because my order allows me to add a conversion bulb but was wondering if its worth it. either way THIS 400 SHOULD GIVE ME SOME GOOD BUDS? RIGHT....

yes sir. You will have a heavier harvest compared to straight CFLs barring other possible catastrophes *cough, cough* fans falling on little defenseless clones. J/K bud. Anyways yes HID lighting is the industry standard and all other lighting options are held up to HID setups like "how's it gonna compare to a 600w HPS system" , know what I mean.

This is until something better comes around.....LEDs are looking better and better everyday but the technology still isnt there to be efficient grow lights. Some people already swear by it, but for me gimme 300 dollars and ill get you a HID system with ballast and reflector that will produce the same results of a LED with 1/3rd of the price tag. It really all boils down to is how effective you are to respond to the symptoms your plants are showing and how quickly you address them. Having the right equipment can make a big difference in Harvest weight but it isnt everything. Water quality, air ventiliation, and humidity all play an important role in a heavy harvest. Grow with love and your plants will thank you for it.

Peace and positive energy to you.

YOu have to forgive me right now. I am heavily medicated. OK so your asking me if the 400w HPS system from HTG supply is any good? My answer to that question has to be a yes. My 600w system is from HTG supply. THey have really good grow equipment and really good prices.

Ok your next question is whats a good prepaid card to use? My answer to that is you can go to wallgreens and get the prepaid visa card , its only about a 3 dollar charge to activate it then after its activated you can use it. Almost immeditaly.

Have fun growing dude. Thats what it really all boils down to. If you have a passion for this kinda thing you will constantly strive to be better at it. My first grow was a failure horribly. My laides all died except 1. She was a sickly excuse for a plant and even through all that stress i caused her she still managed to produce 1/2 a gram of smoke. Just keep up the faith. Don't get depressed cause you didn't get amazing results. Just look at the problems you had and learn from your mistakes. Perfect your technique down to an art where it becomes second nature like mucsle reflex. That's what i call zen gardening. But im sorry I tend to ramble when im medicated. So im going to stop there.

Peace and postiive energy to you.
