woot woot.. i'm pretty stoked as i just picked my first cucumber of the year.. i would have thought it could have been a lil bigger personally, but these are called boston pickling i think it is, and i was told that they stay a lil smaller than the ones that i usually get, so i picked it at the size it was.. it was starting to change its color a lil like they do when they get mature, so i went with it , plus i was just excited to be able to pick something out of the garden finally, lol, other than say the basil that i've been picking off when ever the plant looks kinda bushy, which has been a good few times now..
anyhoo's, here's the newest pix...

My garden's starting to take off now. Here's a couple pics.
You got some really nice looking soil there man. Did you have to build it or is that natural to the land? That's a beautiful slice of land you got there man. Mad props 420G!

Thank you! The soil in the garden is a mix of the existing top soil from the yard and some compost that I added.

yah, you don't really need pickling cucs to pickle them for sure.. i just think that pickling cucs are a lil smaller than normal cucs honestly.. i bought pickling this year and a different variety as well, and from what i can tell, the pickling ones just mature a lil quicker and are about 1/3 smaller than normal cucs are.
my mom used to make pickles when i was a kid, and they were pretty tasty for sure..

i love almost anything that is pickled, asparagus is my favorite. i think the one pickled thing i dont ever want to try is pigs feet

lol at pickled pigs feet.. that shit aint getting no where near my mouth... no effing way, lol.. i don't even like pork rinds.. think that they smell like butt, i can't even get them past my nose to eat them, lol..
i've never had pickled asparagus before, sounds pretty good... you don't always have to do dill pickles either, you can do bread and butter or whatever style pickles that you like... dill are by far my favorite, but i remember as a kid my mom used to do a lot of the bread and butter styles..

ok don't judge too hard guys this place has been rehabilitated about 9 months ago this was a freakin bush of gras and trees, there is still lots of work to do
Dup(4)Image005.jpg
i have corn and pepper companion style
Dup(2)Image012.jpgaround the garden to stop erosion there is a bunch of Florentine iris, it has only bloomes 5 times and never together hoping this time they will all bloom at once,
Dup(2)Image009.jpg
also i got this plant not knowing what it was , later found out its wormwood( absinthium) it was to late for the cilantro around it by then tho they had started to turn yelow and purple cuz it aperrantl secrets sit from its roots that suppresses plant growth around it (as you can see someone enjoys the new space)
Dup(2)Image011.jpg
Dup(2)Image022.jpg
lavender plant , just after its first large bloom its still a little small
Dup(2)Image015.jpg
other side has peppers as well
Dup(2)Image018.jpg
also sugarcane
Dup(2)Image019.jpg
and in the middle of the corn and peppers there are some strawberry plants(perenial) others arn't doing to good cuz there over 8 months old but this guy fruits all the time
Dup(2)Image013.jpg
also in the middle there is a tre tomato but am thinking of pulling it cuz its real nute hungry ( its a tree) ans its shading in some plants

that's about all i've gotten out of the garden so far other than of course the basil that i keep picking when it gets a lil bushy, which seems to be almost every other day, lol..
anyhoo's, here's the newest set of pix i just took while i was out there watering things..

very nice looking, i hsould start harvesting cucs on the regular in about a week same with the lemon cucs, and i just got 4 new basil starts from work, i forgot what type but they have purple leafs as well as green and they smell so good.
do you use you basil as soon as it comes off or do you dry them and put in a spice jar of some sort?

we usually just wash them off and allow the basil to dry then use it in things like salads or on sammy's or in soups or what have you, don't usually wait for them to dry or anything like that..
what on earth are lemon cucs purple?? i've never even heard of them before.. is it more like a cucumber or what is the deal with them?? sounds interesting.. through some pix up if you can if you get a chance as i'd love to check them .. out.. also just took a few flower pix of some of the stuff we have outdoors while i was out there.. not really my thing as much as my roomies, but they looked nice, so i took a few pix of them too..july 20 031.jpgjuly 20 032.jpgjuly 20 053.jpgjuly 20 039.jpgjuly 20 027.jpgjuly 20 036.jpgjuly 20 062.jpgjuly 20 052.jpgjuly 20 049.jpgjuly 20 037.jpgjuly 20 042.jpgjuly 20 030.jpgjuly 20 041.jpgjuly 20 034.jpgjuly 20 066.jpgjuly 20 058.jpgjuly 20 048.jpgjuly 20 046.jpgjuly 20 025.jpgjuly 20 063.jpgjuly 20 044.jpgjuly 20 056.jpgjuly 20 045.jpgjuly 20 057.jpgjuly 20 064.jpg
anyhoo's, i was just out watering things and took some new pix.. i've gotten probably close to a dozen small zucs so far, and atleast 2 dozen or so cucumbers so far as well, but i've got tons and tons of flowers on them still, so i'll be into them for awhile, lol.. which is k, cuz i love me some cucumbers..
finally starting to get some nice sized tomato's, but of course they are still super green, but that's ok, they will be ready soon enough, and for as late as i put everything in this year, just over a month ago, everything is doing beyond good imo.. i was just looking at the last set of pix of everything on another forum, and my god how everything has grown at least like 3xs the size they were in those pix..
i even have what i guess to be a crookneck squash growing now too.. the canteloupes are taking over the entire corner i put them in, which is why i put them there, and have lots of flowers, and i think i may even have saw the beginning of one starting to grow, but i think some of that was my wishful thinking.. and my god, are the cucumber plants getting huge.. i always have great luck with them, and looks like this year is no different..
oh well... here's my latest pix.. check em out if you want..
