I have my ballasts on a brick fire place mantle outside my tent and elevated about 8 inches from the floor and my power strip for fans and exhaust sits in a tub with 12 inch sides....and my 1600 watts of light + 400 watts of random on 3 circuits rated for 20 amps.....as ive experienced fire first hand. Of course my wiring is old two wire romex with braided cloth sleeves (i gfci all the outlets) so that factors into my paranoia as well. I could probably safely run everything on one circuit but much better safe than sorry.

Javadog i have about 7 hemy tomatoes going too but none look as full and bushy as yours. I did take off all bramches but the tops and bury em deep though. Its been 3 weeks and im starting to see explosive growth now. Nice weather finally factors in im sure.

My girls are almost 3 weeks into flower now. Most took te lollipopping well but my biggest blue dream is now putting out some leaves right from where the top buds are forming....checked my timers and light cycle is ok...my hood was only about 5 inches from the tops though so im hoping its heat stress/trimming stress as none of the others are doing it but id hate to get larfy buds from my biggest BD.

Ill take oics tomorrow...worked 46 hours last 4 days and im pooped.

Hey everyone, Safety first, I mount all my wires from the walls, I use zip ties stapled to the tops or sides or whatever , I make a loop and slide then through, easy as pie...all my power strips have fault adapters, and everything is wrapped in a layer of plastic...I use outside power strips inside too...Just in case.

As far a drip pans, I use litter box pans...they hold up well, and I also use the under the bed totes, I can't have leaks as my stuff is upstairs and that's why I like Hempy's not a lot of water all the time.

I love the hempy tomatoes, I may try some when I get home from vacation. It has been relaxing and a great healing time for me...I'm so ready to go home, too many people, too much traffic...

Moe we miss ya and sending ya good vibes....Hoping things workout for u.

I appreciate the ideas team.

I will post Chop Day photos...of the hempy tomatoes. :0)

I agree on the benefits of the reservoir of hempys....I did not
run into any initial top-watering issues, as I used soil for the
top 2/3 of the bucket and perlite for the bottom.

I might do this with my indoor pot hempys, if I do not try the
RDWC route. I am still figuring.

Have a great day all.

Here's a weird one.

How about pre-wetting the perlite at the bottom of a hempy
with water to which one has added some amount of strong H2O2.

I am just shooting-the-breeze here, but I was thinking that this
would have the effect of keeping the reservoir area bacteria free
for the first week or so as the H2O2 dissipated.

This would also add O2 to the soil of the starting plant.

I have a bottle of 35% H2O2.

This all sounds like someone over-thinking the problem, I know.

The idea just occurred to me.

The net effect might be nil. LOL

So I guess you would use 2700K CFL's but the post doesn't really go to that detail
2700K is a reference for light color in the visible range, when your looking for UVB it will be measured in nano-meters (size of the wave length) what you want is 280 to 320, do not use anything under 280nm

2700K is aprox 700nm
6500 is aprox 400nm

But when i harvested some of my Pure Kush and got to snippin i had to stop. It smells, bad. Very bad. Like a dead roadkill mixed with some garlic. Ive been searching for some similiar rewievs but cant seem to find one. I remember someone tellin me that kush does smell like sheit for most parts. But really? It smells so bad :( Im flushing another day in the hopes of a miracle.

Heres what I picked up today at a local pet store. Got 2 bulbs and I have 2 clamp on shades for them. Gonna start off running them 4-5 hours a day.

Javadog, (aka; "mater"), I love to see people put the hempy method to good use outside of MMJ. I think we should keep the thread open to such because it is hempy. I've been growing basil & herbs and the wife even has tobacco (nicotiana) growing. I've had the hankering for a long time to put some exotic peppers to the test under the lights. I've even found articles where folks are growing ghost peppers in hempy buckets...whooooo who.

Nice pics HydroGP! I once grew some Medi-bud (Heri-juana) that turned into such a squirrel-piss smell, I gave it away. Pee-Yuu

Here's my current project with Samsara's "Crazy Miss Hyde" on the left and Blimburn Seeds "Mango" on the right. Both are 2weeks into flower (FIM'ed once during 30 day veg). I like the lack of stretching so far on the Mango. It's been a very normal growth rate. I've had to super-crop the "Crazy Miss Hyde" on the left as it was stretching 4-5inches per day and I knew it would outgrow my lights eventually. I wished now I had a a couple of Mango's side by side but it was an Attitude freebie. Notice the 180W Jumbo LED's, helps keep the tent heat down in the summer months here. It's 108° here today. My ambient air conditioned air can't keep the tent cool enough with the HPS.
