How much do you think I can yield dry with my setup. (First time Grower)

Would 400 Grams dry/smokeable per plant be an asanine amount to hope for?

Sigh......I understand budgets and all. As for lighting.....I say spend on the big gun right off! Get a 1K HID or a COBB LED build kit cause NO other LED is worth it down the road! The cheap "Blurple" LEDs aren't very good at blooming.....I mean, they do work but, anything like COBB LED, DE, HID (MH - HPS) and CMH will kill it!

Now why the 1K to start? Because your GOING to want to up grade! Why spend your way to the top? Just start there and be over with it!

Galaxy Ballast - around $200

Block buster 6 air cooled hood (square hood for a square area!!!!) - around $175

Bulbs - around 15.00 for a MH

And this for bloom - around 50.00

Yup spend it now or suffer wilst you pine for the time when you can upgrade later!

Do you have any gardening experience? House plants? Veggy garden?
The chance of any harvest is doubtful starting in hydro.. It's not as easy as you think..

Not true for everyone. I run a 600 and generally am close to 1g per watt in a similar space and as I do not sell it is more than I ever need. I run without an AC and sometimes am battling the heat so a 1000 has me a bit dubious. The OP has less cubic feet than I run in and while I have a 6 in centrifugal exhaust I can adjust I do not see that in his list either. Can he eventually pull a lb off a 400 watter? I am sure some have right? I guess its all about his goals.

You already bought everything might as well use it right? Id grab another northern lights bean up and run 4 of those, first grow its better to take out as many variables as you can, so id run same strain same feed rather than dealing with different ones. Then id run the whole thing 12/12 cause you are gonna want to get to your first harvest asap, (at least most seem to)

I fully agree that a 1k is the best bang for the buck, and would be perfect in most 4 x 4 tents, but his tent is only 5'7" tall. He's gonna need to grow some very short plants to make that work.

In the long run you will want leds.. Save yourself some money on fans, hoods, ducting, electricity...
And build yourself a cob led.. best lights going!

If it actually saved money and produced a better result, commercial operations would use them. They don't, because they don't.

600w (1kw if you have height) hps in a big sealed hood or Chip on board panel would be your best bet to fill a 4x4.

Doesn't make much sense to spend money on any other light with less PPW then an HID because its already cheap to start with.

I gotta say a cpl a things on this.

I did suggest a COBB kit as well as the HID package I listed - didn't see he was height restricted=my bad.
I'll go with building the COBB's!

No AC is your choice. Add some and improve or go COBB!

Grams per watt is a meaningless way to judge growing! With the right style of grow, area size, lighting and of course strain. I've done over 3gpw several times.
If your wise, 1lb under a 400 is possible...

I understand the grams per watt misnomer. I guess I should have said that I average just over 20 zips in my little 600w room of similar size as the OPs. Of course AC or not is my choice, but a mini-split hanging off a shed in a field draws attention. ;) and I have learned to deal with both the cold and the heat in the years I have been growing. I guess my point is that my goals are met with the 600 and the OPs may be met with the 400....while acknowledging there are always things to add to make things optimal.

Have you ever been to a commercial grow in a legal state?? They are all making the switch.. Same product 1/2 the electricity.. simple business decision... cut overhead..
I live in Colorado, I go to grows very often, both legal and illegal. Serious high-volume grows are almost exclusively HID. My opinion on LEDs aside, something tells me if these people could save $5k or $15k a month on their power bills and get the same result they wouldd have switchedd a long ass time ago.

I don't hate LEDs, I use them myself as supplemental lighting. But to grow exclusively with LED and pretend you are getting the same weight as you would with HID is silly.

I only run 8 bulbs myself so forget about what I say, look at the people running 100 bulbs or 200 bulbs. You think they just woke up and said "I know LEDs are better on heat, ventilation, cost half as much to run in power consumption, and produce the same result...but you know what? Fucking YOLO! I'm going to run HID anyway because the power company deserves that extra $25,000 of my money every month! Come on.

Hello I'm a first time Grower, Poster, and straight up noob.
I'm looking to get insight on how much you guys think I could grow with my setup.
Here are my specifications.
If prediction is hard give me a ball park estimate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tent: 4ftx4ftx5.7ft or 91 Cubic Feet/2.5 Cubic Meters
Light: 400watt HPS
6 plant Hydro system
Basic Carbon filter for ventilation
Yeast Based Co2 Generator
20-20-20 as the water based nutrient
Mister
Ability to tend the plant periodically throughout the day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The plants in speculation
3 Northern Lights
2 Gorilla Glue #4
1 Chem 94
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All links, insight, and recommendations are welcome please inform me.
Smug sarcasm Is also welcome as long as it's informative.
Hey, since you already have purchased items,, Run most of what you bought,, you will get your money back on the first crop,,
deciding what light to buy or upgrade later,,, you can do LATER,,, lol
run your 400 in your tent,, i suggest 2 plants for your first grow,, one left,, one right,
AND,,, do not use the hydro on your first grow,, go get a bag of decent soil,, around 12 bucks,, many to chose from,, stick those seeds in the dirt and grow, ,, the soil will take care of you for a good month or more,, and your plants will be healthy,,
meanwhile,, read hydro threads,, learn more about ph, nutes, tdds , lock outs, over ferts, ppm,, and and oxygen pumps, air stones, flood drain, Dwc,, so m uch,,,, with dirt you dont need to know all that yet,
next grow,, if you want a bigger light,, get one,, next grow if your ready with your hydro learning then use it,,,
what you really need is to get you feet wet,, but dont jump off the high dive,, it does not have to be sink or swim,,
nothing is more rewarding than smoking weed you grew,,
i constantly harvest, 8 ounces from a box 3 foot by 2 foot,,,,,
you should be able to beat that with 2 plants in dirt under your 400
hope this helps,,,
try to not get caught up in all the light debates around here,, you will get caught in a quick sand of words,,
back in the day I grew in my garage under a 400 watt mh and harvested nice big colas,, its pretty cool what can be done with a 400 ,,,,
happy growing
Sounds like you use that tired ass, mind numbing story often. It's an argument to stick with steam locomotives in the age of levitating trains.
HID is cheap. That sums up your " argument ". It's a disposable, half witted stoners rant. Like I said, your talking out of your ass.
