Im a liberal leaning Republican or an Eisenhower Republican, we're a rare dying breed. But the Republican party wasn't bad until Reagan
Yes it was. Did you forget Nixon? What about the Committee on Unamerican Activities and McCarthy? Going back to before Hoover, they were the party that kept the country stuck in Prohibition.

But then again if we want to cite ancient history, Democrats were the party of the South and Segregation. Also, Clinton (as in Prez) expanded international trade at the expense of the US workers. So, whatever. You liked Ike and so did a lot of people and I'm not really ready to debate if Lincoln was perhaps the only good Republican ever.

This Tea Party of Republicans is something altogether different and Trump made me miss Bush Jr, which says a lot. I'm a left leaning liberal Democrat so we perhaps have more in common than you have with Trump or I do with Bernie.

Also, have at it when you see a topic to debate. We need more politics in politics.

Ahh President Kamala... What's vegas got for odds on all this drama.
She will be, but Joe has experience in administration with Obama, Obama set the standard for a modern presidency and Joe knows it, he ain't no fool. Give Kamala a bit of time as VP, she's a fast learner, they have to get an administration up and running in the middle of multiple crises created or made worse by Trump, he won't help either.

I figure they will both shine and Joe will be a one term, look for an assault on Kamala by the rightwing propaganda machine, she will become the next Hillary.

Latest word I’ve heard from GA has the gov ordering ANOTHER recount - focusing on signature-matching....
Do you think it will help the two senate candidates there? The deeper Donald dives into this shit the worse it will be, margins are tight in Georgia for the senate races and if this shit whittles republican support down a couple of points it will make a difference. Getting the two seats in Georgia means a lot, progress and even more justice and big important investigations on American media etc. Mitch is shitting bricks over this, trust me.

My neighbor is an ultra right conspiracy theory believing voter. He thinks covid19 was weaponized and sent deliberately by China, he thinks millions and millions and millions of dead people voted, I honestly think social media is too much for most humans. Many Americans have lost the ability to have their way of thinking challenged and to do so scares and insults them. They rather hear and read opinions than facts. Facts would require them to think for themselves. Its 2020 and people believe in pizza gate, and other far fetched lies. This new Republican party keeps their people in line with fear and its truly sad

It probably will affect the runoff: just got word that GA GOP is disenchanted with the idea of voting now...the loony fucks could simply refuse to show up.., either figuring ‘who cares’ or that it will be overturned or some shit? *NOT* making this up, I swear...maybe the brown acid has shown back up again....

I voted for Obama twice. 25-30 years ago. Obama would have had to run as a Republican. That's how far right the right has gone. Obama deported more undocumented aliens than Clinton, Bush 2 and Trump combined. Biden is not a hard-core liberal either. I see him as someone willing to cross lines and work with Republicans as he would Democrats. Bipartisanship is the only thing that will save this great country. Trump in office we saw over 20% rise in hate crimes too

That's because you have and have had domestic propaganda machines funded by a segment of the wealthy, who are so wealthy in relation to normal things they can buy and control vast swaths of media from foxnews, OAN and Newsmax, to hate radio, to small newspapers bought up and the editorial content changed or controlled, to Breitbart. This is where much of the disinformation originates and is promulgated on facebook, which is owned by an amoral person at best and twitter.
The rich owners want social and political progress impleaded so they pay less taxes and have more "freedom", many are racists as well, some are leftover anti commie outfits, repurposed.

Stacy Abrahams and all this shit hopefully will keep the democrats motivated and some soft Trumpers home. If Trump isn't on the ballot some of the fanatics won't show up to vote either.

I personally question everything I read when it comes to politics and I fact check it as much as I can. Im not dumb enough to believe everything that I hear or read, no matter how good it may sound. I start fact checking. And from my experience. The outlandish stuff is all coming from the right

In scathing ruling, judge dismisses Trump campaign's effort to overturn election results in Pennsylvania

A Pennsylvania federal court on Saturday denied President Donald Trump's request to block certification of the state's 2020 election results in order to give his lawyers time to find evidence to support their claims of a fraudulent election system and improper ballot counting.

In a scathing ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Matthew Brann criticized the lack of evidence the Trump campaign presented to support its argument to potentially disenfranchise every voter in the commonwealth who cast a ballot in the 2020 elections — nearly 7 million in all.

Brann noted that the less than two-week-old case developed a "tortured procedural history" that included a parade of lawyers for the campaign, shifting legal arguments to avoid clashing with a federal appeals court ruling, and an eleventh-hour motion to delay a hearing.

Brann wrote that the lone legal claim left standing — an alleged violation of the U.S. Constitution's equal protection clause — was like "Frankenstein’s Monster ... haphazardly stitched together" from two legal theories.

The ruling entirely dismissed the case filed by Trump's campaign and two Republican voters who said their ballots were rejected for technicalities, while those cast by thousands of voters in the state's Democratic strongholds were accepted. The decision specifically denied permission to amend the allegations.

"This Court has been unable to find any case in which a plaintiff has sought such a drastic remedy in the contest of an election, in terms of the sheer volume of votes asked to be invalidated," Brann wrote in the 37-page decision.

"One might expect that when seeking such a startling outcome, a plaintiff would come formidably armed with compelling legal arguments and factual proof of rampant corruption," he wrote. "Instead, this court has been presented with strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations, ... unsupported by evidence.

"In the United States of America, this cannot justify the disenfranchisement of a single voter, let alone all the voters of its sixth most populated state."

The decision slams the door on a pivotal case in Trump's faltering effort to get courts to overturn election results in key states he lost to former Vice President Joe Biden. It came two days before Pennsylvania's Monday deadline to certify its results, a precursor to formally awarding the state's 20 electoral votes to Biden.

A state canvassing board in Michigan, which Biden also carried, is scheduled to vote on certifying its totals Monday. A judge in Arizona dismissed the final case there that was related to the presidential race on Friday.

Twitter, Facebook to hand over @POTUS account to Biden on January 20
The social media giants will also hand over other institutional handles — for the White House, vice president and first lady of the United States — on inauguration day.

Twitter Inc and Facebook Inc will transfer control of the @POTUS account to the Joe Biden administration on Jan. 20, the social media companies said on Saturday.

The @POTUS account on both platforms is the official account of the President of the United States. It is separate from the @realDonaldTrump Twitter account and the @DonaldTrump Facebook page that U.S. President Donald Trump mostly uses to write his posts.

"Twitter is actively preparing to support the transition of White House institutional Twitter accounts on January 20th, 2021. As we did for the presidential transition in 2017, this process is being done in close consultation with the National Archives and Records," the company confirmed to Reuters on Saturday.

The social media giants will also hand over other institutional handles — for the White House, vice president and first lady of the United States — on inauguration day.

"In 2017, we worked with both the Obama Administration and incoming Trump Administration to make sure the transition of their Facebook and Instagram accounts was seamless on January 20th, and we expect to do the same here," Facebook said in response to a query from Reuters.

The monster they have created is out of control now. Imagine how much fun I could have on Parlor as a Trumper, screaming for a boycott unless they call the state for Trump! You too can be a fox in the henhouse and say they are gonna cut Donald's throat and all manner of conspiracy theories, they like conspiracies, give them some.

Trump Supporters in Georgia Threaten to Destroy GOP, Boycott Runoff Elections

President Donald Trump supporters protesting the outcome of the 2020 election have a new and surprising opponent: the Republican Party.

A viral video of protesters, as well as posts on social media platform Parler, indicate that Trump supporters are looking to boycott the upcoming Georgia Senate runoff elections.

A video, shared on Twitter on Saturday, shows a protester speaking into a mic criticizing Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Utah Senator Mitt Romney, who are both Republicans. The protester calls them "traitors."

Seemingly reacting to certification from Georgia election officials that President-elect Joe Biden had indeed won the Peach State following an election recount, the protesters disavowed the GOP.

"Any Republican who allows this to happen is complicit, and we will finish you," the protester, donning a camo sweatshirt with an elephant on it, shouts into the microphone. "For any Republicans not explicitly helping Trump to 'stop the steal,' we will make sure you are never elected ever again."

Another demonstrator can be heard shouting a long "We're the new GOP."

Reading remarks off his phone, the protester in the camo vows to dismantle the party.

"If the Republican establishment stands back and stands by and allows the steal to go through, we will do whatever it takes to completely destroy the Republican Party," he said. "We will accept nothing less than a Donald Trump victory." He also accused recounts and ballots of being "fake"—yet claims about voter fraud have been widely debunked.

While in-person protests urged officials to call the election for Trump, a number of Republicans on the "free-speech" social media website Parler have demanded a boycott of the Senate runoff elections, citing a conspiracy theory about "rigged" voting machines. Screenshots shared by reporter Marcus Baram showed that people on the app accused Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger of being "RINOs"—an acronym for "Republican in Name Only"—and trying to lead to victories for Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. Both Warnock and Ossoff are challenging incumbent Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, respectively.

Many of the posts bore a resemblance to language used by people who believe the QAnon conspiracy theory.

"DO NOT VOTE IN THE GEORGIA RUNOFFS, THE DEEP STATE WILL BE COLLECTING EVERYONE'S INFO. THIS IS A CHARADE, MEANT TO IDENTIFY PEOPLE WHO DON'T VOTE DEMOCRAT," one post read, which also lamented that potential victories for Warnock and Ossoff were a "small price to pay."

Facts are not important to his followers.

They will pounce on even the slightest deviation from Republican talking points. For example, Tucker Carlson:

Tucker Carlson backlash tells us something important about some Trump supporters

Traitor. Globalist. Sellout.

Those weren't the insults reserved for a CNN or MSNBC anchor on Friday. No, those were the insults aimed at conservative media darling Tucker Carlson. In what feels like the most severe moment of backlash since his Fox News show premiered in 2016, Carlson is fielding criticism from the right.
Carlson angered some of his audience Thursday when he called out Sidney Powell, President Trump's attorney who has peddled wild conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

Carlson was careful not to deviate too far from the party line, opening his show with deference to the fraud claims presented by Rudy Giuliani. He also offered up reasons his audience should trust him. He explained to his viewers that he had reached out to Powell for supporting evidence with an open mind. And he pointed out his coverage of the Russia probe and how he never rules anything out — even UFOs.

Then Carlson broke the news ever so softly to his viewers: He said that, despite his polite requests, Powell had not provided a shred of evidence to support her outlandish claims and had even told him to stop contacting her. Not only had she failed to provide him with evidence, Carlson said, she had also failed to support her claims to others in Trumpworld.

After much pearl clutching, Republicans have read Carlson the riot act.

what is remarkable is that, ever since he called out Powell, Carlson has been the subject of denunciation by some on the right. His mentions on Twitter have been flooded with disappointed viewers saying that they feel betrayed by him. Right-wing websites have homed in on the controversy. And pro-Trump internet personalities have criticized him for having the nerve to challenge Powell.

Powell herself retweeted accounts attacking Carlson, including one that said Carlson had thrown "one of his Fox Globalist directed temper tantrums" and is "owned by The Syndicate." During a Friday morning appearance on Maria Bartiromo's show, Powell bashed Carlson as "insulting" and "rude."

Powell says "so much evidence is coming in about election fraud, it's like trying to drink water from a fire hose". Carlson, the right wing propaganda minster for Fox is merely pointing out that she's provided no evidence. Her reaction?

It is like Wrestling, where the bad guy switches to be a good guy after a sudden revelation. The fans are confused but then roll with it, knowing , deep down.

It is all a show.

Think I'll do a little research on propaganda, there are a couple of recent books that came out covering America and what is going on.
Here might be a good start

Messengers of the Right
"Beginning in the late 1940s, activists working in media emerged as leaders of the American conservative movement. They not only started an array of enterprises—publishing houses, radio programs, magazines, book clubs, television shows—they also built the movement. They coordinated rallies, founded organizations, ran political campaigns, and mobilized voters. While these media activists disagreed profoundly on tactics and strategy, they shared a belief that political change stemmed not just from ideas but from spreading those ideas through openly ideological communications channels.

In Messengers of the Right, Nicole Hemmer explains how conservative media became the institutional and organizational nexus of the conservative movement, transforming audiences into activists and activists into a reliable voting base. Hemmer also explores how the idea of liberal media bias emerged, why conservatives have been more successful at media activism than liberals, and how the right remade both the Republican Party and American news media. Messengers of the Right follows broadcaster Clarence Manion, book publisher Henry Regnery, and magazine publisher William Rusher as they evolved from frustrated outsiders in search of a platform into leaders of one of the most significant and successful political movements of the twentieth century".

ALT-AMERICA: THE RISE OF THE RADICAL RIGHT IN THE AGE OF TRUMP

"The story of the remarkable resurgence of right-wing extremists in the United States
Just as Donald Trump’s victorious campaign for the US presidency shocked the world, the seemingly sudden national prominence of white supremacists, xenophobes, militia leaders, and mysterious “alt-right” figures mystifies many. But the American extreme right has been growing steadily in number and influence since the 1990s with the rise of patriot militias. Following 9/11, conspiracy theorists found fresh life; and in virulent reaction to the first black US president, militant racists have come out of the woodwork. Nurtured by a powerful right-wing media sector in radio, TV, and online, the far right, Tea Party movement conservatives, and Republican activists found common ground. Figures such as Stephen Bannon, Milo Yiannopoulos, and Alex Jones, once rightly dismissed as cranks, now haunt the reports of mainstream journalism.

Investigative reporter David Neiwert has been tracking extremists for more than two decades. In Alt-America, he provides a deeply researched and authoritative report on the growth of fascism and far-right terrorism, the violence of which in the last decade has surpassed anything inspired by Islamist or other ideologies in the United States. The product of years of reportage, and including the most in-depth investigation of Trump’s ties to the far right, this is a crucial book about one of the most disturbing aspects of American society".
