I am so glad I switched to DTW. It makes life so much easier. Set it and forget it.
yea im still working on figuring a way to make it auto mated with no floor drain , I have a liquid transfer pump but with no drain its hard to multi feed my perlite, for now they seem fine with 1 gal every two days but im only in early flower, I have 6ft of headroom so I don't like losing much of that to grav fed

[QUOTEhow many plants are you legally allowed to grow now? ....here in Canada it's only 4 plants, but that enough for personal use ][/QUOTE]
ISK, good to see you still around...I've been lurking on some of your grows...you are doing well for yourself Hempy Brother! Beginning Nov. 30 we can have 6 plants per adult with a limit of 12 per household.....I figure I'll keep my 2 gal hempy magic inside and grow a few auto's outdoors due to our very short season @5000ft from May 15 to Oct 15.

12 per household is awesome, that's more than enough for two.

I grew four indoor sunshine auto's (2 litre pop bottles) this summer and my results were better than expected

I had two dwarfs that finished in 90 days and two other auto's that took 15 weeks, so your window is plenty wide enough.

Update. Day 25 of the new Deep Water Hempy System.
I pulled a plant to check on the root system's health. It appears the new bucket system is able to keep the plants fed and oxygenated perfectly fine without air stones or a constant water flow.

The plants are fed 1/3 gallon over a 4 minute period every 6 hours.
This seems it might have the potential to actually work.

are you draining to waste daily?

Every time the bucket feeds it drains to waste the overflow.
The drain in the buckets basically acts like an overflow culvert for a pond/lake.
Edit....but the buckets never actually get fully drained/refilled.

fucking genius, I'm genuinely dumbfounded how you took the hempy method this far . here i am still hand feeding lol

I'm getting there, maybe a simple small res and pump, just have to rebuild the room to get under my plants to have a catch basin, I have very little headroom to work with 6ft total dirt to ceiling, I gotta duck or I walk into pipes, so I need like a flood table persay, still working out the kinks, eventually I may go up to the attic because no drain is a pain to lug galllllonz up and through my shitty old basement

I started a thread on my new "swAmp" method/system of growing. It's a hempy/dwc/ebb and flow/DTW hybrid system minus the recirculating water and air pumps.
That's about the only way to describe it.
Link here if anyone is interested...

Hi all my Hempy Brothers & Sisters! As of yesterday, Arizona is now officially legalized for recreational so I can legally grow again. If anybody remembers, I was an active contributor here on WOH 5 years ago until they put in a medical dispensary less than 25 miles away so I lost my cultivation rights. I also retired and moved to Northern Arizona at 5000 feet. Then a dispensary moved there too. Seeing this year’s election polls for Prop 207 predicting a win at 55%/45% vs last election’s loss at 49%/51%, I gambled and drug out all the hardware from the attic and got started with a hempy grow in October. My new home, although larger is not grow space friendly. The only viable area close to a pre-existing roof vent is a closet next to a bathroom. Even after ripping out a built-in shelving unit, I was only able to fit a 2.5’x2.0” Gorilla tent in there without destroying much else. Its a tall tent but it’s limiting me to 1 plant. Being the only toker left in the family I’m sure I’ll be happy with the one plant per run indoors but I’ll have lots of fun growing outdoors next season.

So here’s my latest 2 gal Hempy magic.

Strain: Nirvana Northern Lights
Light: Area-51 SGS-160 w/5w LED’s
Bucket Build: 2gal, hole 2” from bottom.
Media: plain Canna Coco up top (no perlite mix), ½” Grodan Mini Rockwool Cubes in Rez
Nutrients: AN Sensi Coco Grow & Bloom

She's just finishing week 4 of flower, so Christmas 2020 is gonna be nice! I included a shot of the Grodan mini-cubes in case you've never heard of them. They've upped my yields from 4.5 to 4.8-5.0 oz's per each 2-gal bucket. They displace less water allowing more volume in the rez and roots actually penetrate them. I would use them for the whole bucket but they're a little expensive and hard to clean up for reuse. I just buy them in 2 gallon bags for $15 which works for about 6 buckets used in the rez only.

For anyone interested, I wanted to say a goodbye and invite you all to check out my new endeavor, "swAmp Hydroponics" (specialising in prototype growing equipment and methods), being hosted by the good people here...

Hey guys, starting my first grow soon and decided on hempy buckets hydroponic!!! So I have a 4x4 tent, I’m thinking 4 or 5, 5gallonbuckets, I will be using only perlite as my medium, with a block, led lighting, my real question because maybe it would be different for other people growing in other mediums... but I would like to know if jack321 and megacrop are more suitable for this kind of grow... also i will be starting with big bud from sensi seeds, probably try to veg for 4 or 5 weeks... any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

The Hempy bucket is so forgiving you can run any strain with any hydro nutrients. If new to this you might find 5-5gal buckets a lot to feed for your first run though. Hauling RO water if you use it can wear your ass out too. Check your tents headroom minus the light distance and any fans filters up top versus that strain's typical height. Step down in bucket size for a smaller plant. I've had my 2 gal buckets grow monsters and had to perform bending and super cropping to keep them out of the lights. Just for example, here's a shot of a 2gal bucket grow I did. This tent was 4.5' wide.DSC02858.JPG
