See now that whole if you been here for 5 years, you can stay thing kinda made me upset considering our job market still sucks. We need to stop thinking about everyone else and focus on ourselves first. Same with Mit , only his was worse. I forgot what he said about illegal immigrants but he said he basically doesn't care.

suppose you were brought here as a 3 year old child, lived here your whole life, considered yourself american through and through, only to find out once you apply for a job that you are an illegal immigrant.

now consider what types of jobs our immigrant workforce does: the types of jobs that you can not force prisoners to do! seriously, the crops rotted in georgia last year because they had no one to harvest them after passing a draconian anti-immigration bill. they tried to bus in prisoners and others, but they all quit. the crops rotted.

wouldn't it be smarter to give work permits to those who want to do these jobs?

I can't tell you how upset I get whenever I read an article about these 2 candidates. I mean, with everything that is going on all they care about it getting election funds. I can't say for sure that Obama is only doing the things he is doing now for votes, but it sure does seem that way. You know with the immigration thing and also when he decided he wanted to tell America that he now supports gay marriage. Granted the gay marriage thing my be a hit or miss because the margin of votes he would get for making that statement doesn't really justify it. But who knows. Every vote counts I guess.

Why haven't they registered to be a citizen then? Why wait so long? I wouldn't care as much if they had gone thru the proper process and now it means more people will start doing this, "hey let's go live in the US for 5 years and we won't have to worry about getting deported!" Why couldn't they have done it at the worst possible timing too. Also, I have tried applying to be a clean up at motels and even on Craigslist, it will ask it in spanish, like seriously?


Maybe it's because I live in Tampa, we are listed as the most depressed city in the entire country.....I need to move. =/

But my statement wasn't about me doing that sort of job, which I know that's not what you meant. I know that you were talking about; if the immigrants wont be here to do it, it would leave it up to us. " Kinda like what ralphe may was talking about in his standup comedy." But I will answer you since you asked. Currently the only jobs that I am able to do is odd and end jobs that do require me to work outside for a least 10 hours. It sucks since I'm prone to heat strokes, but I do what I have to do to get by.

Not to mention I only made 250 dollars for 60 hours of work. Do the math.

maybe learn to speak spanish. it's not hard.

i started out as a towel boy at the country inns and suites in tempe arizona. i brought towels and linens to the maids, emptied trash, whatever shit job you can imagine. eventually i was promoted to front desk, where i served as translator between front desk and housekeeping. eventually, i was promoted to night audit, where i set the schedule for housekeeping. this was all before i graduated high school.
