Hey old farts..how many over 50 yrs?

Let me get this straight. You were born around 1975 and when you were 14, around 1991 you met Bon Scott and he gave you your first joint. That must have been some good shit 'cos he died in 1980 when you were about 4. P.s. I genuinely did see DC. 1986 I think, Wembley Arena. Brian Johnson...

The P.I.S.S. Method - ( Pee in your Soil Stupid ) Grow Guide

I've messed around with peeing on a compost area I built from palletts to cut down on waste bills. Had few acres of sports ground and bar at the time. Grass clippings/leaves etc. I already knew about using beer dregs in the turf (sugars and starches feed bennies) but didn't drink beer myself...

    pH meter repair/clean.

Nice. My bad I guess. Jut happen to have a distiller and was the first thing that sprang to mind. Got a couple to restore before the season kicks in so the pH 4 reference solution is handy to know. Intended to knock some up anyway. TBH i miss the old drip kits but they're impractical now with...

    pH meter repair/clean.

My pH meter (pen-type, cheap £10 job) stopped working after a winter of being unused. Tried soaking the probes in distilled water but no use. A couple of hours in distilled white vinegar have bought it back to life though! Hope someone finds this useful.

    Your peppers please!

Also from the UK and I also use a heated propagator. Got a little 10w burple I use sometimes to start them off. Generally grow peppers, tomatoes, basil and coriander in two x 2x4 foot flood and drain tables in an East-facing conservatory. Also a Wilma system. Mainly got spring onions and...

    Leaves hooking upward.

Magnesium Deficiency. This can be caused by excess phosphates which locks up the Mg, making it unavailable to the plant. Phosphates take a while to flush out.

    Air pump noise.

Used air pumps for years for cloning but the noise has always been a problem. I have dual output ones and I just discovered that if you cable-tie 2 of them together at 190 degrees, are quieter.

    $400 to light a 4x4

Agreed. This topic would me more interesting if budget wasn't an issue. Also would be better without the bickering although some constructive information comes out of it from all involved, it's hard picking it out from the 'I'm right, you're wrong, admit it' crap.

Accidental big yield technique, vertical growing, but not exactly ?

I tried something when CFL lighting became cheap/subsidised. It involved making football/rugby ball shaped structures out of chicken wire and trying to scrog around them. Went terribly but future hps grows went better Started with normal scrog (pulling about 16oz off 4 plants in a 250MH veg...

Light mover for a vertical grow?

I wonder about that but going up and down instead of sideways. Alternatively, stacked bulbs on a flip-flop, maybe with more red spectrum on the bottom bulb to simulate nature.

    Ebb n flow question

At least 30 gallon. The bigger the better really though (within reason). Less res changes, less fluctuations. They also help regulate room temperature, especially at lights on/off time. I woulkd also recommend an air pump and stone and/or a powerhead pump. Personally, i run both. In winter...

    Basic single grow

Looking good mate. I'm with you on the budget thing. A lot of us have been there. However, self-sufficiency is so much cheaper in the long run. You have made some wise investments. When you get your first crop, put 25% of what you would be spending on weed towards improvements. It doesn't...

I think flushing is a myth heres why

Actually. it is pretty much exactly the same nutrient regime that is required. Look up spring/summer fertiliser and autumn/winter and their npk/mag/iron ratios/
