Way cool man. I think you should do 3-240h-c1750b's though. You'll only be running em at 37 of their 138 watts capacity. Run em a little harder and get more lumens outta those cobs. I hope you're not planming on lenses though cause they won't fit. Well, they will, but would hang off the edges of your Heatsinks. Haha. But ya take lots and lots of photos!!!

Very cool. The combo that hooked me was 4 x CXB3590 @50W apiece to get 56% nominal efficiency. I went with active cooling.

Do you happen to have those numbers handy on the combo you chose, perchance?

my laptop shit the bed with perfect timing. graphics card finally died, after only 7 years... pfft don't make 'em like they used too. lol
anywho just picked up this sweet lil toshiba c50.

OK here we go...
1st assembled all my parts and tools
Drilled the holes for the hangers first, after practicing my drilling and tapping in those spots.
Then i drilled a hole in that big chunk of wood i had and bolted the heat sink down to hold it steady.
I measured the placement for the COBs at 12" apart, and 3" away from the ends.
I also roughly marked out the spot where the fins are to try to avoid them...

center punched the first two spots for the ideal holder

Another hangup I was having was locating a #43 drill bit, so after so trial and error and error and error... I found this to work for the 4-40 tap. I am clearly no professional machinist but I seent it on the TV once.
Gotta get those titanium bits!

found this oil in the shop, it looks like it has seen some shit...

For all of those new to machining, like me, remember to clean off your drill bit often. the shavings will clog the bit...

and scratch the heat sink. I will sand and polish this when I'm done so not as big a deal to me.

Why do people drill and tap? Why not just use self-tapping rolling thread screws? I drove 50 self tapping screws into HeatsinkUSA aluminum without issue. Drill the hole through the sink and drive the screw. Done.
