19 Fails but Local Law Succeed!

Even though voters soundly rejected Proposition 19, cities around California managed to win approval for plans to tax marijuana.

The measures were mostly contingent on Proposition 19 passing, so it's doubtful they will have much effect unless pot legalization backers make another stab at a ballot measure sometime in the future.

La Puente voters approved two measures. One would have allowed the city to tax businesses that sell marijuana. The other would allow the city to impose taxes on medical marijuana establishments.

Sacramento and Rancho Cordova approved similar pot-tax measures. The Sacramento measure would have allowed a tax of up to 10% on recreational pot businesses.

San Jose voters also approved a pot sales tax of up to 10% to fund “essential City services such as police, fire, emergency response, street maintenance, pothole repair”
Supporters of Proposition 19 had argued that legalizing marijuana would be a financial boon to state and local government by generating hefty sales tax revenues. But it was unclear how much revenues actually would have been generated.

Fucking retards. No on everything prop 19 related. Anything that government gets their hands on gets fucked up. Period.
It could be argued that if local government sees a financial benefit from medical cannabis, they are less likely to have law enforcement trying to stop collectives.

I personally don't believe they should be taxing medical use unless they start taxing asprin too, but you can't say there is no upside to it. There is one.

well they gov't already controls the roads so you should just never leave the house again...
oversimplification and ignorance go really well together :)

I love the whole "all government is bad!" and "all laws are evil!" attitude. Really helpful to people who want to see change....

Cool, dont use any of the overreaching governments services then, you know like the Police, Fire Dept, dont use public roads, send your kids to private school (at YOUR expense), dont drink the water coming out of your tap, dont use the toilet or dont forget to stop funding the military too.....yeah those damn pesky government services, who needs 'em

and you see govt getting involved by taxing marijuana as a positive? so now an ounce cost you X plus 20 percent? and your medicinal needs increase by 20 percent. and this is good how?

what great and wonderful pleasures are gonna come your way with these new revenues? maybe a cure for cancer?

conservatives take note, we have a lot of educating that still needs to take place.

and for the rest of the tards, the govt doesnt take care of roads in all states. many states are privatized road crews. they are the states with the better roads. hmmm, weird huh?

the world is not as black and white as you pretend it to be. your generalization is a sign of assumptions. and i dont buy herb, i grow it son! buying and selling herb ain't my game.

my medical needs are taken care of by 215, 19 is for everyone else, not me. Why does there have to be a selfish reason to vote for something?

i'm not looking for anything for me (i think you've shown how greedy you are by now). I am looking to further the legitimacy of Cannabis in CA and the world over.

your comment about private road crews is stupid, like yourself and your post. road conditions are affected by weather and and funding and so much more. your simple view of the world is what is wrong with the cannabis community. you don't get to stop thinking just cause you are high.

personal insult, the only way jeff can win an argument.

lol...

the government legalizing a taxing marijuana would've been fantastic.

but, since you're a conservative, you think putting people in jail for walking around with flowers in their pockets is more logical....

Nice job of posting bullshit as fact and insulting those that actually KNOW the TRUTH.
"In the contiguous United States, this is the system of highways that travels interstate. As such, they are funded federally with money shared among the states.

So yeah they feds might not take care of every highway, they just fund the work for those that they dont take care of.

Seems that for those in need of educating the line starts right behind Jeff.
