all Im wondering is what if you dont cook it?
I was wondering the same thing. I just got an early opening in my flower room thanks to a drag queen busting the party and I also have some week old super soil cooking in my shed (which was intended for the next few cycles.) Can I go ahead and use some? Will I have PH issues from the lime not fully dissolving? Beneficial's can go on the backburner for me since I brew some insane EWC tea every 3 or 4 days FULL of microbeasties. I just want to know I won't have any lockout issues, etc.

the whole purpose of 'cooking' It is to let the microbes and bacteria's do there thing, it would be like pulling your plant at 3 weeks of flowering, is just won't work right,it will be doing all the cooking on your roots and probably not release the proper nutes.

would you cook a peat moss/perlite/ewc mix?

if you have to use it now id mix in more base soil so its not as "hot" and use maybe 20 - 30 percent super soil on the bottom depending on root growth. dont want to burn them after a transplant, growth will be minimized at that point

So i got it all mixed and cookin. for anyone interested in how much volume all of this stuff combined is: it fills a heavy duty 96 gallon street garbage can to the top.
what soil did you use for your base, did you add the 2 bags of bio bizz light, and how many pounds of wormcastings did you use, to make up 96 gallons worth...Just curious it sounds very simple to make...

It is easy to make & between a hydro store and your local nursery you can find all the items needed to make it up, I keep mine in 50 gallon plastic toats purchased from the home depot with it cover you can keep it for months if needed I go through it pretty quick since I add it to my veggies some times also

Question: if I have been cooking since the 22nd.. And I don't see the soil web. Should I be concerned, or take any action?

hey Sub, if i only have access to foxfarm OF and LW mixing at 2:1 per your instructions, Do I also add the Bio-bizz light mix.....say for example is this correct: 6 OF + 3 LW + 2 Biobizz light, or would 6 OF and 3 LW be suffice..... in addition to the other products...Sorry for the question but could not find specifics for the products I know you hate with a passion, but it is my only choice without payin shipping$$$$......

Thank you for the quick reply, yes I believe I can get Happy Frog....
FYI, living on the S.Oregon Coast and am trying to turn the local growers on to your SS, am also trying to get them to switch to Roots,
I will be making a few small batches for a few test growers, they love FF, but I will make a batch of each Roots and FF for them to compare, labeled brand X and Y, I will definately give you their feedback......The Roots might be expensive to get now, but this test might help to make it avail. with their approval....fingers crossed.....P.S. would you mind if I packaged up your SS to make a few dollars at the local shop...And if so, is there any special request by you...
Thank you again, and am always enjoying your post comments and vidz on utube...
Give Tokke a bone for me, and say hi to MzJill.....

First of all I want to say thanks to sub for just putting in the time to maintain this and other threads. Really shows the sort of character you have and the person you really are again thanks.

I tryed looking for a similar question and read through your SS guide several times but I'm still wondering...right after u mix the batch first time and put into your large trash cans...we add some water "3 gallons" and then leave in the sun for 30 days. Do you stir once a week through there or not at all or how does that process exactly work.

Also I'm having trouble finding powdered humic acid...is there additional info on the substance so I could compare notes between different products...

Thanks ahead of time
peace

I swore I'd never go soil, but damnit Subcool you changed my mind. Mixing up a half batch of SS today and also meeting up with someone who claims to have true TGA gear, SouthCoast Seed company or somethin like that. Been dreaming about getting my hands on some Querkle but damn attitude seed bank is out of stock. Is this Southcoast seed co down in san diego legit?

He mentions in teh very first Quote that he stirs Once after the First week to activate the microbes in the mix, then let sit for at least three more weeks...And from my research and studies, if at all possible, when ready to use, if it was mixed properly to begin with, try not to disturb the soil too much going from brew barrel to pot....This keeps the microbes from being disturbed and will continue to do their work after the transplant....Microbes slow their prodution after tilling dirt and disturbance of their environment...That is why drainage and aeration are so important for your soil, with those in check as well as everything else, tilling or aerating is not needed and therefore the microbes are not disturbed and do their job without interuption......

Thanks for the detailed post Sub..
I have been a hydro guy for the last 5yrs and have just recently started entertaining the idea of going back to soil (organic) and I will be referencing this post..

Much appreciated
