4 strains under 1000W Black Dog LED (pics)

Blue Dream weighed in at 227 grams, dried to 62%.

Poor trellis support cost me some weight on this one but I'm happy with the results. The Cvault smells of berries when burped, I'm hoping this strain reeks of Blueberries once its cure.

603 grams for this harvest so far, with Slurracane left to weigh.

I manifolded & LST'd mine to control height. It was more effective than I intended - tallest plant is barely 3ft.

Planning to veg a bit longer this go to get some larger plants.

I learned a lot from the thread I posted about stretch. The hormone that induces stretch is produced by the leaves, and only after dark, using stored energy to grow the plant.

If I would have reduced my dark period to 14hours the plants would stretch more.

Another defoliation at day 7 or 10 should slow stretch too. I'll put my Scrog up after the next D.

.

My Blue Dream is 28 1/4" from the light, my Lemon Haze 27 1/2".

I've got 4 clones - Blue Dream, Lemon Haze, OG Kush & Slurracane - from Onlineclones.ca, a Canadian clone provider.

Delivery took 2 weeks from order, there is no communication between Onlineclones and their customers.

Prices were $39 - $49 per clone plus $99 shipping. $270 for 4 strains, hopefully from good mothers selected from a large crop.

.

The Blue Dream and OG Kush came through shipping looking good but Slurracane was beat up a bit and Lemon Haze was mostly dead. It took a few weeks but they're tough plants and they nursed themselves back to health.

Here's a picture of the plants one week after receiving, Lemon Haze in the front left, Slurracane rear left, OG Kush rear right and Blue Dream front right.

This pic is at week 4, three weeks after the first picture. They're topped twice and recovered well, robust.

This is a picture of my current crop at 7 weeks of flower, White Widow and Headband.

In veg I top until my tent (4x4) is full, then I defoliate and flip into flower. At week 3 of flower I defoliate again and put in a scrog netting.

Last crop's yield was 737 grams (dried to 62%H), under a 1000W Black Dog LED. Nothing to write a book over but a decent harvest, I'm hoping for over 800 grams on my current flowering crop and then push to 1000 grams on my 4 clone grow that I'm highlighting in this thread.

This is my Black Dog Phytomax 2 1000 watt LED.

I follow Black Dog's growing style and hope to someday soon produce their results. They're at well over 1 gram per watt.

Here's a comparison video, showing actual yields of 3 lights:

Cheers, enjoy the ride or hop on, the thread's for everyone!

I saw the strains you were running and had to check it out. You made some excellent choices. Might I suggest ordering seeds in the future? They hosed you pretty good on those clone prices. Great work bringing them back from the brink of death. They look happy and healthy again. Your last harvest looked solid. I briefly scoped out the black dog units. They look cool. I'm going to email them to find out more about the chips and drivers hey are using. Pricey puppies they are. What are your thoughts on the unit's performance versus cost? Would you purchase another unit or would you go another route? Sorry for asking so many questions. I've just recently become very interested in LED lighting. I recently purchased 2 quantum boards from different manufacturer's and I love 'em. Great looking garden you've got there! Subscribed.

Edit: I didn't realize this was 7 pages deep. Catching up :)

I've grown new genetics from seed for 20 years, I wanted to try out genetics that were picked from a large sample. I lucked out with this batch and didn't get any bugs, I don't think I'll order any more clones for fear of bugs. I've got Gorilla Glue seeds from Dr Greenthumb and I'm germinating those for my next grow - it's going to take the place of OG Kush which was a poor producer.

I couldn't be happier with Black Dog's performance, I'm getting solid chunky buds right out to the edge of the tent. I've bought a second Black Dog 200 watts for my veg tent. If your research brings you to wanting to purchase a BD tell me first and I'll see if I can get you a 10% discount, they gave it to me on both lights after I asked.

That's actually a very sound reason I hadn't considered to order clones like that. The breeder most certainly selected mother plants with the best phenotypes whereas with seeds it can be a mixed bag. I've had 3 different phenotypes out of a 5 pack of feminized seeds before. Some more desirable than others. I can't say enough good things about gorilla glue. I had it in my garden for over a year with fantastic results, but I wanted to switch things up and try something new. I wish I hadn't. A glue mother is like a double barrel shotgun. Always keep at least 1 at home for personal use. It's just a great producer of dense resinous and highly sought after buds. I just had a less than desirable experience with hash plant. I tried 2 cycles in a row to make it special, and the genetics are just not there to produce the way gg4 did.

Those Black Dog units look pretty amazing and your results are impressive. I might try out one of their smaller units for one of my nursery tents. I love trying new LED lighting. Great technology.

At day 10 of flower, most of the leaves have grown back from the first defoliation.

I decided to defoliate a second time, early, to slow down the stretch. My plants growing into flower vegged longer than I wanted because my old flower garden took longer to mature than I anticipated.

I've taken a few missteps with this grow, looking at the trellis I feel that I should have topped one more time.

My Sluracane is at day 80 and still has some white pistils on the fox tails.

I reduced the light from 12/12 to 11 light/13 dark, see if that speeds things up.

I'm going to harvest this Sluracane this weekend, I need the tent for cloning. The trichomes on the foxtail calyx are 75% cloudy and 25% clear with no amber, I might get 100% cloudy with 1 more week maturing.

Super interesting shape on that plant. Just been LST'ing it into that shape or did the stems collapse?

I've been having some trouble with Powdery Mildew and I've been researching it at this thread in the Plant Problems forum. Lots of good advice from people in the know.

.

.

I noticed PM on my last plant to harvest - Sluracane. It's fairly progressed on the bottom buds, I've come up with this plan to get rid of them:

1. Wash the harvest in H2O2 solution and rinse off the dead mildew.
2. Vaporize sulfer in the then empty 3x3 tent that the PM Sluracane is now in.
3. Vaporize sulfer in my flower tent - plants at 2 weeks of flower.
4. Run a daily sweep of tents and plants with the UVC CleanLight.
5. If PM returns to harvested Sluracane buds I'll hit them with UVC.
6. Put fans in the back corners of my tent, under the canopy, where there is little air flow.

Question I still have:

How long do I burn sulfer for a 4' x 4' tent?

Thanks for any help you can give, advice appreciated.

You need to upgrade to a bra with underwire to give that girl some support! ;)
Looks nice.

Just picked up some slurricane from the dispensary and thought of you when I did it, haha. Never heard of the strain before, but I guess someone in my area with a commercial grow sure had.

Couple months and hopefully my time at dispensaries is done with, lol

How do you find it Ross? Is it couch lock?

.
I'm just about to go smoke a bowl and I'll let you know. I will qualify by saying my tolerance is pretty stupid, so I may not get some of the stronger effects. It looks like pretty well grown bud though, which has been hard to come by in the midst of Big Rona.

So I actually dipped into the Gelato Cake rosin last night before I got around to this stuff, decided to have a little puff this morning so I could review for ya. It's a bit heavier than I usually like for a daytime smoke, but not straight couch lock.

I topped my clones tonight, a slight problem with different heights.

Different stains often have different internode lengths, topping after the same number of nodes leaves plants of different heights.

The Lemon Haze (front left) and Slurracane (rear left) are about the same height but Blue Dream (front right) is hugging the ground and OG Kush (rear right) has the longest internodes.

They're almost pushing to go into the 4x4 flower tent, they're currently in a 3x3 under a 200 watt Black Dog.

.
Glad you noted that. I was thinking that doesn't look like a 4X4.

Nice journal... great read!

How do you like those hydrometers for your dry/curing.. do you feel there pretty accurate. Are they the ones sold in 4 packs on amazon?

You in BC by any chance?

Hi Klude.

I'm on the other side of the country, Nova Scotia.

The hydrometers are the ones from Amazon and they seem fairly accurate. I have Bodeva moisture packs in each cVault and the moisture meters have 62 - 63 RH after balancing the moisture in the buds.

Thanks for the complements on the journal!

now I just gotta figure out what to do with the keif!

.
I am doing a bit of keef every run i do. Dont like to smoke it straight up, so i keep it till i do an oil run and do a mixture of keef + oil, let it sit for a few months and then i have something that resembles a good cream. ( In my dreams anyways )

Often pretty good smoke.
