70gal RDWC Waterfall update

Might add that my bigger plant is cracking it’s manifold with growth, I’m watching it and assuming it will heal as it grows. It’s not stressed from training, there is minimal pressure on the manifold for the past couple days, they seem to be getting bigger regardless. Not too worried about it anyways. I should of left more of a knob, I did but it disappeared. Might of been something i did, new technique for me.924F1C37-728C-4E51-B62B-55B04C27C4D6.jpeg

Alright, it wasn’t the most fun I had at 3am on a Monday night, but I got it done. After the idea was planted to update my month old system to waterfalls I just had to do it ASAP. I currently have a grow on the go but I am at half capacity so it worked out. Systems is 5x25gal totes filed to 70g. I built a perimeter manifold to feed each site, each site is fed with a 20” manifold with 4 5/16th holes. Using the same mag drive supreme 1800 it seems to be pretty good, I would of preferred a bit more, I had a hard time deciding how big to drill the 16 holes, would do 1/4inch if I could go back. I’m still running 65 watts of air to 4 nano ceramic stones and a couple 2” barrels in the main res. The main res also has a small feed waterfall. Complete drain and fill, vacuumed the sites for shits and giggles and did a refill half and half RO/filtered tap. Top up full nutes and away we go! I’m just looking forward to clipping in that 1k de hps, be awhile yet. Water levels maybe 1-1.5” too high right now, got carried away. View attachment 4556773

Couple video links, no sound. Manifold and main res
Main res

Dialed in, actually upped it to 860.

My totes would only be big enough for one plant each¥I will post in a bit and get your guys opinion before I start with them. If they are to small I will look for something bigger

Sorry I will use my own thread since I am kind of jacking yours, system looks great, airwalker has lots of valid points I will defiantly be taking advantage of

No worries man, we learn together. My totes are 107L rated for 400lbs, I would say they are filled somewhere around 1/2 to 2/3rds max to put a inch gap under my 6” baskets. I’m prob going to make different plates to run different locations in the future. Like if I want 3 or 1 plant a tote. I have 2 plants that could take up the space of 2 totes easy on this long veg. Systems pretty care free really, i run a chiller at 64, my ph hasn’t moved since I changed my water, which was somewhere in the post. Pretty much just watch the plants and trim and training. Checked roots today, lots of bright white new growth. You want to hear something stupid @Airwalker16. Back when we were talking impellers... output should of been more... well a week later I realized that the airstone that’s in my res for no reason rolled directly under the pumps intake.... live and learn.

It was destiny. I told you to remove it, had you, you'd seen it days earlier

Shit sorry I missed the update! Dunno how.
But things look to be on great track here.
That cracking will heal up or stay like that. Ive had plants do both at bent areas. Dont stress it.

Thanks man, no worries, yeah I figured the crack would scar up, it’s all closed up now. I split a node on my 16 top and it didn’t even droop the leaves, just taped it and left it. I’m prob a week out until flower, not sure how many nodes I should wait being a manifold, I have lots of headroom so just letting it ride. Would of been killer if I didn’t have poor germ rates and a delay on seed, new to rockwool, wish I knew better, rapid rooters next round for sure. I only have 3 of 8 spots strong going in but it is what it is, all spots are filled anyways.

Anyone curious as to how the plants are liking the new setup, here’s a pic from today. The picture I posted at the start was May 6th. One plant has been angry the whole time but I can’t change feed for it alone, so it has to suck it up. There’s also 4 more small plants that can’t be seen, well one in the reflection, enjoying its strong brew I guess..34B59386-0214-4131-9A82-59B7F9EACE7B.jpeg

Ya littl runty ass clones suck. That's why you take way more clones than needed so you can pick the best looking ones with the most roots.

I never used rockwool before and killed a couple seeds, rapid rooters would of been a better choice, place i tried to replace seeds from didn’t ship for 3 weeks, dug out some 5 year old beans from the stash, had problems germinating some of those too. I have my plants outside that I will be taking cuttings from later this summer or at least my plan. This is all seeds this round. All my clones are outside now. There’s a pre 98 bubba and critical mass in the back I’m just going to flower when the big ones are ready, there’s one more decent size one up front I fimmed and topped and played around with. One dead hole, disappointing for sure, could of had 8 going strong but I learnt enough about this hydro setup now to nail the next time and fill it up. I think it will stack nice regardless.

Or even veg 12 and pick the strongest 6 like I do. There was a huge difference between the 6 I kept and the 6 I didn't last round and they were all clones off the same plants.

8 plants doing the training I did would be too much, I’m working it now to maximize my area with what I have kinda thing. I have 3 pine tar kush and 3 mazar on the go separate I hope to find a decent mom to take my next grow from.

I’m basicly waiting for another 10-12” vertical then I’m going to flip. I estimate a week.

Finally unplugged and put away my last air pump as I get ready to flip, I’m not sure where it’s noted about blowing contamination into your water @Airwalker16 but here’s a good example, dirty came out of the main res, clean was out of sites, separate air pumps. Won’t need air again anyways, just didn’t expect to see the staining.

Yes sir! Won't need air again Anyways! Love it.
I told you man, second shit gets past that tiny little form pad they use as a "filter" for those Air pumps intake. Mine were always dirty and stained too.

Man you're telling me! Happy as can be! What's the ppm here? And GH nutes, right?
Yes sir, still running that last batch of 3 part, over did the calmag but showed very little burn so i let them ride, since I have added at least 20-30 gallons but have only added back a small amount of m/g/b. Today’s ppm is about 750 .5. I grabbed a new ro system so when it shows up I will prob do the change over which should be near the end of transion. Already looking forward to the next round now that I have it figured out. Thanks again.

Edit, 750 with a 150 base still. Next change will be zero base.
