Barney's Gorilla Zkittlez

My plants have really taken off after last weeks abuse and the roots are getting larger. I did another small defoliation yesterday. I know a lot of people say you shouldn't do that, but I've found that the plants respond really well to it and bounce back quickly. These plants want a lot less nutrients than the gorilla zkittlez did. I was pushing 900ppm in late veg and these ones aren't happy with anything higher than 750ppm.

Those tie downs were really handy. One of my plants kinda tipped in the netpot and those ties were useful for trying to make it somewhat symmetrical again.

I made a new scrog screen for this grow. I didn't like the large openings on my old screen and it was too stretchy and the plants could easily lift it. this one is using non-stretchy cotton line and the openings are 3". Dr.Amber Trichome's trippy scrog screen inspired me to add a little colour to my tent.

Thanks @Flatrate!

What strain are you growing this round LG? im sure you posted it earlier but im lazy lol

Merry Christmas!
@Dr.Amber Trichome beat me to it. The seeds are from Humboldt, not sure if anyone else makes this strain.

They're 3d printed.

Quick update I was planning on starting flowering yesterday, but decided to let it veg a little longer and maybe start flowering near the end of the week. I would like to have the net filled out 100% this time. A friend who was visiting relatives in Michigan smuggled a bottle of hydroguard back into Canada so I switched from voodoo juice on this weekend's reservoir change. I love how little you use compared to voodoo juice. Still running around 650ppm, I tried pushing it a little harder and they did not like it at all. Weird I was able to push close to 1000ppm in late veg on the gorilla zkittlez no problem.

I saw a few of your pics. Your plants are gorgeous! You're growing gorilla zkittlesz as well? I finished my zkittlez grow in early November, love the high.

Looking good LG, you're getting good at this. Should be able to fill the majority of the screen.
thanks @Axion42 This strain is so much easier to deal with in a scrog setup. The stems are much more pliable and take to bending and tucking really well and recover quickly.

Here's a quick update. I flipped to flowering on Saturday. I did a heavy defoliation and tucking on Sunday morning and by mid-afternoon they had almost fully recovered. I fired up my second set of lights and far red initiator puck. I have the secondary lights dimmed completely down right now, I'll slowly start turning them up this week. I did a reservoir change on Saturday and started increasing the PPM. I have them at 800ppm now and they seem perfectly happy with it. First pic is how they looked Sunday morning before I started tucking. Funny it was almost like I was looking at @Dr.Amber Trichome 's tent! All the leaves were pointed almost straight up on both plants. After an hour of the lights being on the leaves relaxed a bit. Second photo is after the tucking and defoliating and the third is how they looked six hours later.

Thanks @Dr.Amber Trichome and @jzs147 !

Day six of flower, It's impossible to tell they were abused so badly a few days earlier. I spent an hour bending, tucking and stretching out each top. there's a lot of them already! I'm not sure if it's the strain, but the tops on this plant are so pliable to take take nicely to being roughed up. I do a lot of defoliating in the first two weeks of flower. I know many folks are opposed to defoliation, but I've had my best results by keeping the leaves under control and allowing all the tops to have access to the lights. I'm planning on giving them two more sessions like this then I'll let them do their thing until the end.

It is! These ones responded a lot quicker than the zkittlez ever did and I've pushed them a lot harder. I'm pretty confident I'll get 100% coverage this time. Last time I didn't get it all the way to the front and back of the tent.

Im having a crack at a scrog in my small tent this time. Big bud x white widow. Im gonna wait till screens near full an then flip.

I wish I started scrogging earlier, I'm sure my harvests would have been larger. I find knowing when to flip difficult since all plants stretch differently. I've read that you should flip ranging from 50% to 80% covered. This is where I was with my screen last time when I started flower and I think I probably could have gotten at least 20% more had I waited another week.

Looking great LG, you grow some righteous plants!
Thanks @Flatrate I can only hope my plants look half as nice as yours did when they finished.

Topping up the water tonight and snapped a pic. They have almost completely recovered from the abuse. They took a couple days to bounce back from the previous training session. This time it can be measured in hours. Crazy!
