You can pretty much get by with cooking all your meals in a cast iron pan over the fire, a Coleman stove is nice for the mornings so you don't have to start a fire before cooking. There's a burn ban most if the year where I'm at so I'm often stuck with the stove.

Maybe a board game or cards or something to play as a family at night in the tent if the bugs are bad.

A hatchet for making kindling or splitting wood.

The hatchet part is kinda what i was getting at. Campgrounds around here usually wont let you cut anything standing. Even sleeping in a tent i call it glamping because you can fit all the luxuries of home basically in the vehicle thecamp has bath houses etc big diff than a hike in

Pro tip: To keep from breaking eggs in transport, a simple breakfast hack is to mix all the ingredients for one omelet and put it in a zip lock bag - make as many as you like. Keep in the cooler on ice and when you're ready to make breakfast just boil a pot of water & drop the bags in (probably not all at the same time depending on pot size) and viola, no dirty dishes, just burn the bags & paper plates when you're done eating.

As mentioned the biggest tarp you can find to cover the whole campsite, tent included. And 100’ nylon rope, throw one end over a high limb, wrap the rope around the tree and tie it off. Open the tarp on the rope and throw the other end over another tree’s limb then pull tight as a ridgeline, tie it off then tie off the corners with the extra rope. Try to aim the rope into the prevailing wind. Handles any storm and tree droppings.
Edit: a couple magnifying glasses for hours of entertainment.

Like my idea with a plastic gallon jug! Good call on the ziplock bags!

So yeah the camping is on a guys private 75 acres that he rents out. There's a website for this stuff now called hipcamp. It's got no amenities other than he has firewood that you can buy. No cutting anything down, but fallen stuff is fair game. I really like the prep-eggs idea. That sounds smart. I forget what else I was to answer. Awesome stuff so far though, keep it coming.
