yea but im if i was doing a comercial grow i wouldnt drop $700 a fixture.......... im not starting an arguement i use cfls in all my grows but if i was doing a 4x8 room i would go hps. the efficiency for the price is remarkable. if i had an endless suply of cash id buy a big t5 ho fixture
Lumens are about as meaningful as the non-alcohol ingredients in booze.

you can pay a fortune on t5s. the funny things is i dont even use HID. i dont have the space. but what ever you can get worked up about something that has nothing to do with you

T5's are cheaper than HID(MH&HPS).

I don't grow inside much. I have some herbs under floros(t8's/CFLs).. that's it!

The sun is free! :bigjoint:

well natural sunlight is around 10,000 luminens per square ft. so with 42 watt bulbs youll need 10+ with 26watters like 18+

for two small veg plants would two 40 watts and six 27 watts (both 6500k) be a good option? is having them one inch from the foilage at all times a MUST? cheers :D

One inch would be for very healthy mature plants and if you're using a fan. I would never suggest an inch unless your plants and environment meet those conditions. I've gotten burned tips from no fan and just over an inch from a 26w bulb. I try to maintain ~2 inches with no fan.

:leaf:hey guys i dont know if this is considered jacking a thread or not but i think that my question and my setup goes a long pretty well with the thread, but if need be i can start my own so lemme know:bigjoint:

:leaf:take a look at my pics on the bigger plant there is a27w 5500k cfl on top, the ones to the left of the bigger one are 26w 6500 cfls, they are also about an inch over some very young seedlings...the one to the right is an 18w cfl not sure of the exact spec, but by the second pic u can tell that it is much warmer, i just had it lying around and figured they could use some of this extra spec, all of the lights are between 1-2" away from the plants most have at least 2 that are 1" away and then like one more 2" away...

:leaf:will be adding more lights as the plants grow, and will be switching over to all warm specs (3000k and lower) when i put into flower here in a bout 3-4 weeks...

:leaf:Let me know if you guys think i need to change anything up, btw there is a fan blowing on the whole set-up its just out of the picture, cuz i think that one in the middle getting bombarded with those 4 lights might get a little warm without it

:leaf:like i said before i will make my own thread if need be, i had a thread similar to this in the newbie central, but i thought i'd come over here and see wut the cfl crew had to say about it

:leaf:Thanks guys, happy smokin:bigjoint::bigjoint:

- BTW the only plant u can see is a little stretched out at the stem thats due to her early life on a window sill, lol i saved her, and when i replant im gonna fill the dirt up to her cotyledons

3rd week flowering with 2- 68 watts and 4-23 watts all 2700k. this is my first grow ever. Ive ran into some problems at first but everythings been smooth sailin lately. Ive got some clip lights if more light is needed in the future. The space is a storage cabinet 30"x18"x5' with my 3 ladies. Im thinking next time im going bigger with only 1 plant topped for 4 main sweethearts. Would anyone know if the space and cfl lighting can give me enough to work with for a sweeter yield:bigjoint:

Hey fellas, heres my little cfl grow..just a lil somethin i put together with with some bagseed to hold me off for a few weeks til i get my dwc tubs and 400 hps setup. I know im breaking like 10 laws with this slapdick setup but my money and energy's going into another big project.

I found that a circular formation with a few bulbs in the middle down low works very efficiently at getting the middle/bottom foliage growing. I threw in a couple t5's ill be using for clone later on when i need em.

When i get the hps in the mail this little setup is going in the veg chamber im in the process of setting up.

Got 4 pc fans 25cfu each installed 2 out 2 in and they came with these kick ass blue led's!
guhhh Dont think the blue will help the plants much but it sure does look cool! :hump:-Young:weed:
