Cheap led grow lights

Has anyone use a LED light that doesn’t have a veg switch and a bloom switch? I got one and it says it’s for veg and bloom just keep the hours how you would 18/6veg and 12/12 for flower
listen ... this is the first issue I see with new growers using “ split color channels “ panels ....
Throw ALL SWITCHES ON .... ALL THE WAY THRU GROW.

You need to squeeze “ any and all “ light out of those cheaper panels.

The switches are just a marketing gimmick so they can say the lights are "Dual Mode" for both Veg and Bloom. It sounds cool but all their doing is hurting people's yields by having them run just either the veg or bloom modes.

OP , there are MANY ... MANY options for lights . Lights that will grow with you.
CMH , QUANTUM , DIY STRIP , COBS , even the old work horse HPS .

Newer leds run much more efficient designs with newer components designed to last 50000 hours or more.
The old saying .. “ You get what you pay for “ isn’t more obvious today . Take “ all “ market claims / hype / “ best of “ bullshit with a grain of salt , even charts. Many cheap dealers steal or copy designs made with the cheapest components just to sell to someone.

Amazon reviews are often skewed in favor of product ..... so don’t just go by that either.

The only true measure of any light is what other “ users “ are accomplishing with that particular light.
Lurk grows with your choice of light and see what kind of grows it can do. Also , if you serious about growing on the regular , then you should get the best kind of light you can afford. I still see guys posting grows with spiral bulbs wrapped in foil roasting pans , and ironically if they ran those bulbs properly you can actually grow a plant.

Go to HLG, if you are worried about it, tell them where you want to go with this, and you will be happy, just a suggestion. I'm glad I did. I would not buy anything from China right now. Feb. 2020

Seriously? HLG uses Samsung parts. Where do you think Samsung manufactures their diodes?

  • Samsung LED Co.Ltd established
  • Established Tianjin Samsung LED Co.Ltd (China Production Plant)

Ya, but HLG gets the best top bin diodes. Those Chinese lights get the leftovers. Not saying the Chinese lights are bad, just they aren't made with the same quality of materials that HLG provides.

I know HLG uses good parts. My comment was in response to the comment about not buying anything from China. Most of the parts HLG uses are made in China. They don't provide materials. Samsung manufactures at a Chinese facility and HLG buys from Samsung. So if you buy from HLG you're buying a product where most of the components came from China. That was all I was saying.

He might have made that comment about getting nothing from China right now with the coronavirus issue going on. That's what I took from it, and it actually made me think about Chinese imports right now. Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean you have no reason not to be, lol.

I went to the Post Office in my nearby city with a Post to China, My friend the Postmaster smiled and then chuckled saying everyone that has shipped (mailed a letter) to China has not received any confirmation of delivery. He has received no mail from China in a month. I'd wait a while, ya think.

I know Samsung is Korean. Their LEDs are manufactured in China at a facility in Tianjin. It says right on HLG's website that they use Samsung LED's. HLG might source other parts from Vietnam but the Samsung LEDs they use are made in China. As for delays, there is probably enough material in the supply chain and warehouse to keep running for a while without delay. And there really isn't any difference between being manufactured in Vietnam or China. The two countries share a border.

But these are just minor details. It really doesn't matter where things are made as long as they work. China is a very efficient and friendly place for foreign companies to open plants and move their manufacturing to. That's why virtually every company has done it. I was working at an electronics manufacturer in the nineties and they were moving as much product over there as possible to be manufactured. These were products that ended up with big name labels on them like Hewlett Packard, Intel, etc... Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get a trip to China. Instead I got sent to an offshore facility in Mexico to assist in destroying the American manufacturing industry. I still feel guilty about the jobs I helped transfer out of the country. :(

Let me be clear, I was talking about direct dealings with the manufacturer not national brand that have other sources that are not always located in China, half the country in quarantine. I talked to Mike at HLG just yesterday, I was even even considering asking about supply. OMG type A pot smokers, I thought pot was the cure for dat maybe its that indicia dominante crap . Just joking as in every single word, everyone is totally correct I always wrong. OK tried of sitting, I'm taking a one hit of Sativa, so Im off the couch to find something or someone fun to play with. Read this, but I would not buy from Advance nutrients cause I have no idea if they are real or not, m ma may mayb maybe from China. https://www.advancednutrients.com/articles/potassium-silicate-for-plants/
