very recently, several members: echelon1k1, gagekko, slavenomore, nietzschekeen, and shotgun420, have all come out as very proud holocaust deniers.

that puts them in a special category of horrible human beings.

Image what type of person would justify war crimes based on a religious belief including the systematic rape, torture and murder of an entire population?

But "war is hell and might is right"... You wouldn't be mistaken in thinking such a person supporting & justifying those kinds of atrocities could be rightly labelled a nazi and would make hitler himself burst with joy

I wasn't suggesting "MOD" edit... What I was alluding to was the "TROLL"(during heated exchange) will actually post just long enough for "TARGETED VICTIM" to see post (and others) then "EDIT" quickly so they can't be caught..someone did this to me and I called him out on it, to which he acknowledged his specific intent to do so..was really proud of himself, too.

When I practically lived on RIU, I'd see it happen. Now most of the time I am playing catch-up. That is one of the things actually inducing me to close threads ... it's the tool of discipline that remains to me. A parent will generally assess a lighter punishment to a peccadillo nipped in the bud as opposed to one that said parent has to read from the sometimes literal trail of breadcrumbs after, say, going to get groceries. cn

The threads that get locked will almost always have the same 3 or 4 people spouting the same bs over and over. We all recognize it for what it is and yes, it greatly diminishes the quality of thread, making some unreadable. It's the same insults lobbed back and forth over and over and over. When I see discourse turn into cries of racism.... every time, I know it's just a feeble minded person who can't debate. Knowing this doesn't make it anymore palatable to sift through.

I too am in favor of temporary bans to those who repeatedly roll in the mud instead of locking threads if we members have a vote. Although I believe this would just result in multi-accounts, so it's not a great answer either. This forum hasn't been very fun or challenging lately. It seems to have devolved into name calling instead of debate. I don't come around as much because of this so I'm torn. I'm not a fan of locking threads, but those threads definitely bring down the value of the neighborhood

I'm glad I'm not a mod, no easy answer here. If we were to allow an anything goes, people here have shown that a handful will ruin it for everyone else. I don't take it seriously so I'm not offended, I'm just bored by it.

Red takes as much abuse from the usuals as anyone from what I've seen, and yet is the biggest proponent of live and let live on the forum. He deserves credit for that at least. He's fighting for your right to post fake stormfront red posts at his expense, much respect.

I've skimmed over some truly racist posts recently, but calling them out has lost any credibility when every argument turns into charges of racism.
