I have found out almost every season that looks can be deceiving. I had my fattest leaf plant last year come out tasting like a Jack Herer. Definitely not what I was expecting. What kinda smells are you getting on these?
The smells are all over the map. Some fruity, some piney, some it's hard to describe. But they sure do smell.

How did the red compare to the green?
I don't know yet. The green isn't dry. The red fruity and strong. That's just from sampling a couple lower buds that have mostly dried. Overall I'm impressed. I'm not a big fan of colored weed. I think green is better. Give me a week to make an opinion on the green. But so far that looks like the line I'll be working on.

I think you're probably making the right choice then. I mostly prefer a limey green colored bud but sure have had a few late season purples come out surprisingly good too. With the Purples I usually prefer the greyish ones. I'm not so familiar with the reds. That Red sure does look pretty though.

The green PCK + Durban turned out good. Well at least one. Out of five PCK green pheno + Durban only one wasn't red. That red trait is pretty dominate in PCK. The green is the one I'm working with.. It's some fine smoke. We'll have to see what the next round looks like. So far I'm extremely satisfied with the way things are going.

In between rounds I'm playing with some other things. One is a Hawaiian + Thai cross. The other is a pure sativa called Old Timers Haze. I don't know what I'm going to use it for yet. It's a 20+ week sativa. But I have identified a male now that I have it in flower. If nothing else I'll gather the pollen and store it for later. And then there is the Ciskei ... So much to do...

I think I'll have some of that green PCK + Durban. It has a skunky smell and taste. It reminds me of the eighties when the skunk first started showing up around Portland in quantity.

Sounds really good! I'd like to see where your seed line ends up. Does the Hawaiian have a name? I smoked some Hawaiian over a decade ago that was unreal.

The Hawaiian was from Nirvana. How pure it is I can't say. But so far it is looking sticky and gooey. I messed up and got fem seeds. But I reversed a couple and have made some more fem seeds . So at least I wont have to buy anymore again. And my friends will be happy.

I used some of the pollen on a Thai Seeds are forming. And I've been harvesting pollen off of the Old Timers Haze. I have a female just now showing pistils after over a month of 12/12.

I'm popping some of the F2's I made with the PCK, Panama, and Durban. I'll probably bring some of this pollen into the mix along with making more seeds of the OTH I also have a Tikal and Ciskei growing right now. I'm not going to do anything with the Ciskei for now other than make more seeds. The Tikal I'm going to cross with the Old Timers Haze here in a few minutes. Then I'm going to get some of my F2's going. Panama + PCK and Panama + Durban.

That sounds good. Shame about getting the Fem seeds on accident. I am sure your Old-timers Tikal mix should be interesting. Are you getting any scents off the Old timers?

The smells from the OTH are a combination of citrus and pine so far. I'm happy to have gotten an early male. Fortunately I had some other plants ready for pollination so I now have crosses of OTH and Thai, Hawaiian, Tikal, and Ciskei. I don't know when I'll be able to get to growing any out but at least I have them for the future.

My next run is going to be some F2's of my PCK, Panama, and Durban. The Fem seeds of Hawaiian and Thai for my friends are doing fine so now it's another breeding run. Although I'm making crosses right now. I can't do a grow without making seeds anymore. I'm turning into a seed junkie.

It sounds like you got a really good smelling Old Timers Haze. I've ran OTH outdoors once but lost the labels that year so who knows which was which haha! Definitely had some crazy tall plants that year. I've been sitting on a few packs of Tom Hills Haze but have been working with Kushes and pure Indicas lately so those have been on hold for quite a while. I wonder how similar they are. I've heard the OTH is older. I know some of the decendents were unreal from that year which ended up being pretty much open pollination.

I hear you on having an addiction to breeding...I can't stop either. Haha!

Just checking in. How is the project going?
I have some of the PCK green pheno x Durban F2's going right now along with some PCK red pheno x Panama F1's. They'll be going into the flower tent soon.

But it's a slow process.

So in between runs of the PCK + Durban and PCK + Panama I'm doing other things.

This is what I did this last time.

Strains:

Nirvana Hawaii Maui Waui
Seedsman Mama Thai
Ace Tikal
Ace Oldtimers Haze

Crosses:

Oldtimers Haze + Thai
Oldtimers Haze + Maui Waui
Oldtimers Haze + Tikal
Thai + Thai
Thai + Maui Waui
Fem Thai + Maui Waui
Fem Maui Waui

I'm calling the Thai + Hawaiian Thaiwaiian. I've already sprouted some of the seeds and they will be going to some friends for their outdoor grows. I'm hesitant to provide any plants of the OTH crosses because I doubt they will finish outdoors before it gets too cold. The Thaiwaiian will be pushing it as it is. The Oldtimers Haze female I have have been flowering for three months and still have another two to go. I'm waiting on a Ruderalis female to be ready to pollinate with some OTH pollen. Hopefully I'll be able to get something with OTH traits and Ruderalis flowering times or something in between.

Here's the Ruderalis female I'm going to pollinate with OTH pollen.

I had to make a spreadsheet to keep track of all the crosses I've made. I'm past twenty at this point. I'm going to start feminizing all the crosses I've made because the people I share with are not interested in breeding and just want females. But that's all good. I'll be able to make crosses and have others grow them out. With the upcoming growing season upon us my phone has been ringing off the hook. Everyone wants starts.

So update.

The F2's I flowered of the Durban/PCK are really good.

In have a friend growing a few of the feminized Thai/Hawaiian I made with plants almost five feet tall growing outside. I doubt they will finish in time but we'll see.

I'm growing one of my Thai/Hawaiian crosses indoors and just pollinated a branch with the Durban/PCK f2 pollen. I'm hoping that cross will finish faster.

I also Pollinated a branch of Frisian Duck with Durban/PCK and also a branch of Purple Paro Valley with the Durban/PCK pollen.

I have a reversed Frisian Duck that I'm going to use to pollinate some more branches on different strains. We'll see if the duckfoot trait carries through.

The plant with the F3 Durban/PCK seeds is starting to die off but it' full of ripe and finished seeds.

I think I have too much stuff going on. But I'm juggling it. I also have a bunch of new landraces I got that came from The Real Seed Company. Plenty to keep me occupied for years.
