Curing in 5 Gal buckets

You guys are wack... I came here to ask for help and you guys are acting like I’m unworthy because I’m not a growing god like you. This is my first LARGE SCALE GROW... I didn’t say I was a dummy... quit assuming.
You need to look at who was quoted. I did not say that to you. He did not say that to you.

wel I guess it’s hard to find people in Ohio with a lot of experience wet harvesting 60 lbs at a time. Our state is new to this guys. This isn’t a home grow. We aren’t hang drying. We have too much product for glass jars. It’s on a very large scale.
Both of the commercial ops I worked for, and most growers that I've met, hang dry first.

Old Hippy hung whole plants in a barn before curing - which he didn't show me.

The other op trimmed fan leaves and hung branches on hangers, put them in a dark room to dry before going into 5 gal buckets.
Not telling amounts except to say - more.
That more - considerably more - was hand trimmed by 4-6 people for 3-4 days
Out here, machine trimmed eighths generally go for less than hand trimmed.

Use the tools you have - your senses.
Does it look / feel / smell / taste like weed that YOU would buy over everything else on the dispo shelf?
If it passes the test above - smoke it. Do YOU like it?

Yeah the vac bags are needed. I wouldn't suck all the air out and compress the herb. But if you don't care then go for it.

They are not air tight like you think.
You can DIY a silicone gasket into the lid -
Remove existing gasket - unless it's already doing the job - if it ain't broke...
Put release film on bucket rim.
Squirt silicone of choice around the gasket trough in the lid (I liked the white marine-grade stuff, it stays flexible longer).
--one layer, cut the tip to fill the lid trough about 2/3
Make sure you put the release film on the bucket - I didn't once...
Press the lid down firmly, but DO NOT SNAP SHUT.
Place a cinder block on the lid.
Come back tomorrow....
Seriously, beat it! Go smoke a bowl. bongsmilie

24 hours later - not first thing in the AM ...open bucket
remove film
Close & SNAP lid shut - should be kinda difficult the first few times.
With the lid ON - Wash bucket THOUROUGHLY with soap & water, rinse
Watch for bubbles actively forming --- bubbles mean you jacked it up. No bubbles?
Thoroughly dry the bucket - especially the lid and area around it - DRY.
Open lid, INSPECT for moisture - None?
Fill bucket with smelly product of your choice.
Let your buddie's (or your) dog or cat sniff it - most of them like the smell, so they'll alert if they get it.
All clear - just don't open it en route.
That's what we ran a few pounds a month in way back in the '80s. Never got pulled over, so I guess I never put it to the test...:bigjoint:

There's easier ways - like a Pelican case - or seattle sports dry bag - ask any roadie or studio grip - they might ask the engineer for you.
