Nice work on the brackets Mark. I'm really diggin' the advancement,ingenuity, knowledge and love you guys(a few of you that know whom you are ) are putting into the diy projects. It's funny how fast the big corps took notice of the diy niche and jumped in. I myself will continue to support you @Greengenes707 @Gromau5, and @robincnn. I have lights/ parts from all of you. Much respect.

Hmm..I wonder why Cree didn't put out a chart for the 3500K?
I basically extrapolate the spectral curve by averaging the 3000K and the 4000K to get a ballpark.
I'm pretty much just trying to decide which peaks I might want to supplement my 3500K's with when I get some single diodes.
Definitely thinking 660nm but also possibly some blue peaks (to simulate metal halide) as long as it wouldn't negatively affect yield
I might start a new thread on it for those COB users that are supplementing with single diodes
Was going to throw some UVB in there with an agromax bulb, but I have no clue what the light schedule should be because everyone disagrees and it's hard to find documented grows where people have used em

I was wondering why CREE did not add 3500K also.
Here are the spectral curves of another brand at the 80 min CRI and 90 min CRI ratings tested with a 2.25amp current.

Although I am not using the Agromax bulbs, I do have UV A/B in my grow space whenever my main light source is on.

Just got (30) cxb3590's all the drivers, holders, lenses and heat sinks ordered and a 730nm strip for a flower initiator. Aluminum already got here in the mail! I'm pumped! building a new sealed 8x8 room with a new mini split. Ill have to do a journal on here. Never used LED's feel like I just took a huge leap of faith but I'm confident I made the right decision. 36V will be running at 1400ma so if I'm correct that's just under 50w per cob. I'm going to do 6 rows of 5 cobs all spaced 12" from each other. Really excited to see what these things can do.

Dont you think thats gonna be a bit of a stretch? 8x8 means 64 cobs if youre trying for 1 cob per foot

For an 8x8 grow footprint yeah it would be a stretch I'm only gonna do a 6 x 7 footprint. if they are all 12" apart thats 5' x 6' for the light and I figured I could extend the scrog footprint 6" on each side from that so the scrog will only by 42 sq feet of 6' x 7'. That should work right?

Now that I look at that I realize the scrog should probably be 5.5ft x 6.5 feet... which would be almost 36 square feet. So let me ask this... with the same number of cobs what would be more beneficial, spacing the lights slightly farther apart or shrinking the size of the scrog??

Thank you very much for that link. I thought they come in just 4 cobs per kit. So I would just put 1 kit up per 5x5 space?
I would think that i would make 4 10 cob lights and leave some walk room around each 4x4 area.10 cobs might be enough for 5X5 alone but would like some deep reds in there too?:confused: For my 4.5x5.5 i have 2 4-COB run at 1.4 amps 200w 40" bars 3500k with dimmers(I run at 1 amp) and a 350w clw burple that I had already, altogether might be 650w at the wall and my 6" can fan keeps the room at 82F run about 1/2 speed when lights on. Full power is 84f in the summer with the fan on full. Running 40 in a 10X10 would require full speed fan(noisy), and a bigger fan, or some ac for my ambient temps (75-80).

covering 36 square feet your getting about 1033 ppfd
covering 42 square feet your getting about 885 ppfd
Both will kick ass!
With a scrog I don't see a problem with the lower figure covering the larger area

Ooo I would be guessing. In a proper scrog with nothing below the net I would say the larger foot print due to it been plenty of light over that area as opposed to loads of light over smaller area.. Like I say though guessing!!

I'm trying to familiarize myself with all this information. From my understanding ppfd is the best way to measure usable light right? And correct me if I'm wrong but somewhere in the range of 700-1000 ppfd is going to be ideal so i might as well try the 42 sq ft scrog and see how she does.

PPF is the amount of umols from a given fixture and PPFD is the density over the area your covering, PPF is photosynthetic photon flux, add the D for density.
A 1000w hps (according to gravita website) gives a PPFD of 800umols over a 1.5m2 area so with the larger area your talking about your still beating that PPFD.
Yeah I'm pretty sure your right with the idea ranges for flowering, you will be kicking ass which ever way you go. Theres some charts somewhere abouts which show the optimum levels and the point at which more light is not producing more yield. I'm afraid I cant remember which thread but its been brought up on in the LED section a few times in the last few days. @CobKits will be able to post it I'm sure.
