OK OK my bad. It was funny though, before I knew you were a chick. My mates and i were laughin our asses off. Kinda blows the entire high knowing your a chick. But totally cool in another lightkiss-ass.

interesting to note... My buddy's vegging under a 1000w MH bulb...
He pulled every fan leaf off his plant... it looked bare as F,....
3-5 days later, you can't even tell that he removed anything... all the small leaves filled right back in and grew some new fan leaves again... it actually looks like he'll end up with more leaves, but they'll be just a little smaller without any giant ones takeing up all the space... which should let light down further into the plants... it did look like it slowed the plant down for about a week while it was regrowing the leaves... but should still be ready to flower at week 3 or 4. it should be intresting to see how it turns out...

I also played a game with an LA confidential plant... as it grew from a clone, I removed every fan leave it grew on top immediately when I saw them. as I took them off, it would immediately grow a new top by the next day... I did this untill it got about 10 inches tall with a very small single colum with no fan leaves (looked funny as it had almost no node spaceing between layers)... then I left it alone to see if it would just start filling in on top... it didn't, it actually grew new fan leaves all the way down, and is spaced out very nice before it would continue to grow upwards again, should be interesting too...

Yeah i'd have to agree with the trend here. (Even though I'm interested int he experiment outcome) But my main plant which is still in flowering gets to a point where clipping the fan leaves actually have a negative effect, in that the plant just regens the leaves, and more of them. I didn't notice before seeing as I was clipping every 2 days any large fan. But After being away a week I came back to see that there were more fans growing, than what i actually clipped. So i'll stick with only light trimming of strategic fans. (only those blocking other buds)

you don't experience regen of the Fans? Sorry dude, maybe I didn't getcha... You said you take your seedlings straight to 12/12? I guess you use the stretch as the veg period? Or you just put them in flower and let them regulate their need for vegetation?
i'm interested in that technique if so. i might even try that on the LSD if it sounds viable and if it would be possible for the plant to sustain a good heavy harvest without having enough foilage for photosynthesis? But maybe the plant will regulate that itself, given all other conditions are proper...
Or maybe you didn't mean any of what I said

Ed Rosenthal, Closet Cultivator. A great book for indoor beginners... Low and behold, there is a section on pruning. He encourages the removal of anything not at the canopy at about week two of flowering, and any fan leaves up top that block bud sites.... I also follow this practice and I get good results. There comes a time when the plant will not regenerate plucked leaves and cut off growth and will focus on bud production.

OK - So we're about 1/2 way through. and here are the photos. I've numbered the top 6 colas on each side. These plants typically start to pack on weight in this and the upcoming cycle - another week or 2. I think any differences will be magnified during this period. Overall the plant seems healthy. No outward signs of stress - no 3 lobe leaves, no wilting or curling, no signs of burn.
On the untrimmed side, #1 and 3 look pretty good. #2 and 6 get shaded pretty bad. 4 & 5 are OK, but they're kinda low and outside, so they don't get great light.
On the trimmed side, there is less of a difference between them all. 3, 4 & 5 are a bit bunched together, but the trimming has helped them all get good light.
On the untrimmed side, #1 and 3 look pretty good. #2 and 6 get shaded pretty bad. 4 & 5 are OK, but they're kinda low and outside, so they don't get great light.

WOOO i wanna watch but IMHO anyone who CUTS OFF FAN LEAVES never tried LST nor has ever used a Twistie tie thingy. You can LITERALLY BEND A FAN LEAF 180 DEGREES BACKWARDS... Before

How is a plant that is LST'ed be a 'control' plant? A control plant is one that you don't do anything to but feed, water and supply light to, as with your subjects. You can't alter a plant's growth using a technique like LST and call it a control group. That is as unscientific as you can get. lol
