defoliation?

Ok so got 2 plants in flowering stage one has a nice even top canopy and thus the major budding sites are all getting adequate light however the other is like a mini rainforest with foliage and bud sites everywhere some of which are not getting the light they need. so is it ok to remove some of the larger fan leaves and lower leaves which are dying off or does the plant need these more than it needs the light?

I cut about 10 percent especially towards the bottom and middle but I don't do it after the first week of flowering, I let them use their energy for better purposes

Never remove fan leaves! They provide a valuable source of energy to the plant, even if they aren't getting much light. If you need to get light to bud sites then simply try your best to tuck the leaves out of the way or at most cut pieces of the leaves off

only a week into flowering. probably trimmed 2o to 25 leaves off of it around 1 month veg then the day before flower. it vegged for a month and a half I did it then waited 2 weeks and did the rest of the ones I noticed covering to many bud sites but if u can tuck, tuck but don't tuck to where you have like 3 leaves together and get mold or some other problems

this bush grew hella weird though couldn't keep an even canopy and I wanted to try not lst'ing this time and see the difference in growth. imo if you can trim just right and not pick at it and you don't have to worry about space just top it and let it free

its all in the root system people with experience like to push it further and get more yield some people say "I did good enough" and don't mess with new methods. but if people can do mainlining and successfully because ive seen it then you are not doing what this guy says unless your hacking away at it. its all on your environment if the environments good they work with you. you don't have to go to the extremes of mainlining or even cutting half the leaves just cut the 4 or 5 that really bug you an see if it effects it, bet it wont

and I usually never leave damaged leaves on my plant if you get 1 or 2 with a cal deficiency just pinch them off with your thumb nail not touching but right before the stem. I never cut partial leaves I feel its harder for them to try and pump nutes through leaves to heal them that's why spidermites kill so quick if its just the whole leaf the plant cuts it as a loss and just seals up the tine stem spot that is left. not saying that partial leaves are bad because I have no factual evidence but that's just my theory and obviously im doin something right:hump:

I find if you tie the main stem down it sort of breaks its dominance and lets the rest of the plant catch up by the time im ready to flip I usualy have about 6 main tops, I also snap stems to allow the plant to suck up nutrients and water quiker, and I also fim my main tops for extra shoots

I would lollipop any time up to 2-3rd week of flower but I usualy make sure I remove everything all at once its usualy a good idea to wait till early flower to get an idea of what the stretch will do,
all I do is start at the lowest branch and work my way up removing anything that I think wont catch up or get a nice amount of light, and I also remove any leaves from the bottom of the plant that hang low enough to touch the soil
