DIY with Quantum Boards

So I was reading ttys vertical thread on these and someone mentioned light movers in it which got me thinking.

Has anyone thought of building a fixture with these that simply stands vertical and rotates?

Im thinking something along the lines of 3 or 4 boards end to end with a base with a motor in it that simply rotates. Seems to me like it would be a very efficient way to get around the fact that these are directional lights.

I would offer this idea to Tty, but he would either say its retarded without any reasoning simply because its coming from me, or he would claim he came up with the idea and is the best innovator in the world. lol

Anyone want to try the idea out? @Stephenj37826 do it and make some money!
My idea is to have the boards mounted on the blades of a ceiling fan. You could run high wattage with heatsinks whatever, and the coverage would be really good. Kill two birds with one stone.

I have a Light Rail 3.5. They are very well made and for the price they are good. My impression is if you have the light move 3 or 4 feet on the rail they are effective. If you run the full 6 feet then your yields go down. Light Rail allows you to put more than one light on a single rail which may be a better approach.

Likely not a big difference. If running parallel, and if 1 board fails, all that amperage WILL get dumped into the other board(s).. Potentially killing all your boards. You can design your circuit with a fail safe if you wish. In series, if 1 board fails, the circuit is broken, you'd lose the one board to failure, but others would be fine when you rewire it.

This likely isn't a big enough reason to chose one or the other, both are used, both work. I don't hear of many quality/name-brand COBs failing when wired properly, weather series or parallel. The QBs are a bit of a new design, and lets say less proven, but I want to hope they'll have a similar [low] failure rates. Time will show us this.
How do you design the circuit with a fail safe? I am going to wire two sets of 3 in parallel and I like safety.

DIY UPDATE - QB hybrid

Completed initial center cob setup but am changing the smaller driver for a more powerful
HLG 120h 1400b for the cobs ( now dimmable ). So estimated build power should be around 350w with all components ( panels and cobs ) . Which should be a nice addition for the 3x3.
Ordering panels once new years passes . ( god damn holidays ) :cuss:

Looking at this board it seems like you could make 1 lens that covers the whole board. And is blacked out 1inch around the edges to cover the wire connections.

That connects to the heat sink maybe raised a half inch or inch off of the heat sink.
Sandwiching the board between the lens and heatsink.
