DIY with Quantum Boards

I only ever grow one or two plants in the 4 x 4,, I don't try to cram them in,,
the hlg rep said I should be ok with reflective walls because this new light is very powerful ??
How much of the tent do you actually use then, as square footage/area? Like from a top down view. For example, is it half the tent (2x4) with two plants? Is it a 3x3 single plant in the middle when only one plant?
Are you talking about the HLG 350r, two qb648 fixture? Or the HLG 300L Rspec, with two qb288 rspec?

Anyone having the specs for what the 288 boards require driver wise? I've got 2 288s that I have taken apart for packing things up and finally in a spot where I can use them? I've also got the 2 304 boards and I can't remember which driver is for which and how to wire them.

What drivers do you have? The QB 304s are 100V+ boards so probably a HLG320H-C1400 which would give about 150watts per board, the max its rated for with stock heatsinks.
Lots of possible drivers for the QB 288.

I feel like the 288s go in series and the 304 are in parallel. I'm almost home to check out the drivers. I'll be in touch. I am trying to max out the boards and heatsink.

I have an hlg 320h 54b and a hlg 320h 1400b.
This might help.

QB304

QB288

How's many boards do you have of each? My guess is you had the 320h 1400b powering the 304's, but don't quote me on that. Wait for a pro.

Edit: Pretty sure you can't use the 54 for the 304's, since they need 100v a piece like @pop22 said.

Yeah, I dunno. To me wiring QB304's in series just seems like a bad idea, but that's only because I don't want to be killed by a 200v DC spike. I always try to keep my DC voltages below 100v. I'm just funny like that.

I agree but that's what HLG recommended for 2 boards. And I grew a lot of fine plants with mine, never running over 90 watts per board.

I was looking for this! Thank you so much.

Did you have these bookmarked? The guide no longer exists on HLG's webpage

Is anybody using 8 qb120s in a 4x4? thinking about grabbing a couple of 4 packs and building another fixture. Was going to use strips for a new tent, but don't have a lot of free time atm and the Qb120s seem like a much simpler build.

I was thinking of making a 3x3 grid with an empty space in the middle to account for the overlap. Would run 2 per 120W driver so I can tune the layout a bit.

I know a few ppl have built 4 board fixtures, just wondering if anyone has lit an entire 4x4 with qb120s.

thanks!

It would depend on your intended hanging height, if you're +10" (my best guess) you should be fine

No problem. Saw this at the bottom. I'm assuming you have 4. This shit's starting to make sense to me now, lol.

This is for the 304's.
PARALLEL-SERIES WIRING (ADVANCED)
It is possible to have partial benefits of parallel and series together using some driver configurations. For example HLG-320H-C2800 can be used to power 4 boards in parallel and an alternate could be HLG-320H-C1400 with 2 parallel string of 2 boards in series.

If you only have 2 boards you would just do series like @pop22 said.

Those links are to the HLG site. They work fine for me.

Strange. It should work.
those pages are not linked in the menu of the site, but they still exist and you can Google for them. your web person needs to delete or unpublish them if u no longer want them accessible. I've used this a few times to check some of the older model specs before, i would be a bummed if they totally disappeared tbh.
