DIY with Quantum Boards

Yeah apparently I was a bit confused lol. Are there other lights with similar form factor that are better than the samsung models?
Better? Not that I'm aware. Most, if not all of HLGs competitors are using Samsung. (I mean lights that are put to market with the intention of competing with HLG, not that every competitor uses Samsung)

Ok well if I went with QB 288 V2 3000K what kind of drivers would you recommend. Is it a good idea to run them at full power or not?

HLG 120s VS 260s I would like to know if it's a huge difference in a grow. I would like to run 4 of either of them in a 3x3.

I cant find the specs or any comparison on the quality for the grow. I dont wanna go overboard without needing to but I would like full plants healthy plants. No twigs with baby nugs.

The driver that comes with the single 288 135 watt kit is perfect for one board. Yes you can run it wide open if you need to. Mine runs at full power for all of flower and i uave had no issues.

Hey bud if you run 4*260s in a 3x3, we wanna see pics.

So the 288 is better than the 304? And what's the most watts I can run them at and still use passive cooling?
Here is where the “ confusion “ of boards come from .....
there is NO NEED to run max with any of these boards ...... although they can take some good watts they are mid power leds ( they excel in efficiency at lower power ratings ) roughly about 50 - 70 watts per board and you are golden. Each board will light a 2x2 quadrant with ease.

The 304 boards have 20 more leds than 288 board but either one kicks ass.

QB 288 V2 3000K...If I wanted to run these at 1400ma how do I calculate the efficiency. And would they run cool enough just mounted to a sheet of aluminum?

HLG-100H-54B Will give you UP TO 100watts on that board AND be able to be dim ready with a linear pot . This way u can drop power to start seedlings ( less intense ) and adjust upward as plant grows. Later ... you can add one more ( parallel ) and use same driver !

I have a 304 board that suffered some damage and one strip of the leds does not work. I have it as the only light flowering a 2x2. I am running it max voltage and it is doing well. Should I turn it down? If so, how much?

Heatsink I hope .... at full power.

Did you MAYBE tightened the mount screws too tight ?

Reason I mentioned this is that another grower found out later that he tightened them so tight it cut into solder mask and shorted board.... later he put Teflon washers to buffer the screw so it did not short anymore and lights all came back on.

You could check board by taking board off heatsink ( turned off and unplugged of course )
Re apply power temporarily and see if ALL light up again. If they do , you shorted board.

If it’s still an issue .... contact HLG and talk to them.

My ex-wife chucked the board across the room and damaged it. (Note ex).

266 diodes are still working just fine. I have used the board for about three months now. I have been running it at full power to compensate for the missing lights.

Jeezus .... if my wife touched my shit .... there would be a special two part episode on Homicide Hunter : Lt. Joe Kenda and Live PD.

I got an empty 55 gallon drum , paracord , rip saws and beer .... fuck that

After the chop ....

Cleared the hempys and reconfigured lights . In the 3x3 have some soil grows going with the
E B Stone recipe 420 mix ..... to test compared to FFOF . So far they love the stuff.

This mix was bought when Orchard Hardware supply went out of business last month or so and I bought like 6 bags cuz it was hella cheap. I am running as is .... only water ... to see how well the plants pull from it and if there are deficiencies in the mix.

Anyways , these will be topped and quadlined as time goes on to make some compact plants.

Right now they are under the 4 panel QB 3500k and COB rig at about 260ish for now and will ramp up as they grow. Cycle at 18/6 . I also lined tent floor pan with vivosun Mylar . So it can get pretty bright in there at max.

I also popped 2 PSYCHOFRUIT autos in Hempy and will LST those . These are in the same kid sand pail buckets ( 1.5 gallon ) .... I like these but have larger Lowe’s blue buckets if I to start something bigger. These little shit plastic buckets are working really well for what they are .

Using the tripod mounted 4000k over them as a starting lamp . As they grow out I can crank up the height of board or fire up the core overhead. Kinda glad I built that board on a tripod , it’s kinda handy working as either a direct light , supplemental or over a prop dome.

Last two :

Atomic Bomb ( Bomb seeds )
Good Shit ( breeder friend called it that ... lol )

Thanks @robincnn and @Stephenj37826 for making such great lights ... you made a very happy customer...... now I got to start looking for a bigger place for more lights ... lol

These are in cure mode ....

Thought I'd share a few pics of my plant as she comes down tomorrow. I've been so excited leading up to this moment but as I began prepping the room before the final lights out, grief overcame me. Maybe I'm just a softy :)

This 1st picture is from 3 days ago and the rest are from today. Today happens to be day 71 of flowering.
(16) QB 288's - mostly 4000K

The size of the flowers are a bit smaller than what I had hoped for but I think it's fair to attribute that to genetics. As far as quality goes, you can be the judge. But I think it's pretty breathtaking.
I ran each of the boards at a measly 60 watts. It's just really hard to comprehend how amazing they are.

At any rate, I want to thank the gang at HLG and this entire community for the amazing work that you all do!
