does smoking weed decreases our intelligence?

I would almost argue that marijuana increases my intelligence. After smoking my social and language skills decrease quite a bit (If I am stoned I want nothing to do with the unstoned public a lot of the time.) But my mathematical, reasoning, and logic skills go through the roof. I took my ACTs stoned (this was years ago when I was in high school), I scored a perfect 36 on my math, and only a 28 on reading. If I was sober those numbers would of been a lot closer together, probably in the low 30's. Well maybe instead of saying it increases my intelligence, I will just say it changes it.

Actually its true. Weed makes your brain rush when u feel head high, from nice hashrip i have gotten tingling feeling in my head like i would be flying. Thats how you use the brain rush is up to you. You have often chance to choose what to be, you dont have to listen in someone saying weed makes you stupid and you dont have to believe it becouse believing in something changes your consciousness and manifests in your subconsciousness, so eventully if you smoke weed and believe that youl get stupid you will get stupid. I have also though about talking to ppl telepatic using eye contact. I dont use eye contact so often with unknown ppl, i feel wierd i feel energies, i cant look into eyes to people who are about to say or is saying bad about me, theyr like demons they feed on bad energy, of course they have no clue about it why are they eager, anger and making others feel bad, and they quite enjoy it. So personally i enjoy being alone or the people i like to be with - friends.

i definitely have a harder time comprehending new things when baked. I also find my math skills decrease (although maybe its just my memory. very hard to do mental math with several steps when you forget the previous step!). It usually takes me a bit longer, and I find more errors in my work when I do it stoned. Never made me lazy though.

Only way it effects me in a negative way is that i lose my ability to focus on multiple items. I can normally sit around and do whatever i like and have a film on that i can easily keep track of in the background. When i'm smoking, i quite often find myself having to skip back 10-20 minutes as i've simply no idea what just happened. Other than that it doesn't make me any dumber that i am aware of, doesn't make me any smarter either.

i used to study psychology its really in my interest to learn about people, i have read in a book that smoking cigarettes emits chemicals in our brains that let us concentrate more in what were doing. as for smoking weed i tend to lost in words. but when i am dealing with music like i used to dj n parties i would make that dance floor on fire. so i would like to know what occupation are you in now.

No your own laziness makes you stupider and stupider. I wills say weed has lowered my attention span, but if I need or want to pay attention I can totally do it. However, my overall intelligence is not lower.

right, i think i may not have got my point across right
i was saying: when i smoke a joint , im alot less likely to go for a run, jog or skip, im more likey to stay in and find something to watch. i meant at the time it can make you more lazy and lethargic (although i do smoke the super strength stuff>indica weed, we just don't get any sativa weed where i live) . im not saying that overall it makes you more lazy, or long term , im sayin, right after you hav smoked a blunt, you LESS LIKELY to run a marathon than before you smoke that tasty spliff.

I understand the point you are trying to make, I just don't think it's valid. I am very unlikely to run a marathon sober or stoned. But being stoned doesn't exclude me from physical activity. I get stoned before going snowboarding all the time. It's not like after smoking a joint I change my mind about going snowboarding, if anything I am more excited for it. Not to mention smoking motivates me to do other things that I wouldn't other wise do. If I am sober there's no chance in hell of me doing house work. But after a little bit of green I clean like nobody's business. If not for the ganja I would live in filth.

I would say that any substance can lead a person astray from education/intelligence.

In my experience, people who get "dummed down" by drugs are people who aren't that intelligent to begin with...and they let themselves get carried away by said drugs.

In my life, marijuana use has opened the doors for me to meet many new, interesting people. I have learned a lot about the world just from buying it, and dealing with different people. It has made me more "street smart"...But it has also made me more "book smart"...Back when i was in high school and started smoking weed, i used to sit in my room and get high and watch history channel, discovery channel, etc...and Just sit on my comp and surf the net...Gathering intelligence along the way.

For me, getting high heightens my senses and makes me more aware of things. It also made me more able to retain information and "pull it out of my mind" more easily...

Case in point: I got high before taking tests in Science/Algebra/Geometry etc...and i would always get a B+ or better.

I also took some College placement tests...and got stoned before each one...I got over an A on each one, and i even got a 100% on my Mathematics placement test whilst stoned.

So, in my experience...smoking weed has made me a more intelligent human being whose' more aware of his surroundings.

.

I've gone from a non consumer who could barely keep thoughts from racing away to designing water column air compressors / heat pumps while going through a litre of cured bud a week. (grow lab below)

The effects of marijuana will vary with each person; in one person while they're building resistance; by strain - I can only speak for myself. I'm think better while high, which I am from the time I wake in the morning until I can't do another bag at night (that tells me that it's time for bed). I'm more productive, my thoughts are better organized, my memory is better, I can do math in my head quicker than I use to.
