Thank you Dr Gruber that was an excellent report on your Sour Diesel. As I was reading it, I started thinking about the Casey seeds that were given to me recently and then punkenstien swung by and mentioned his lol. Too cool!

Take care man enjoy that dankness!!

Thanks!
What exactaly about it reminds you of the Casey?

Unfortunately it can. Breeders are very touchy sometimes about what people say about their strains lol.

Hey punkinstein whats going on man! I have talked to a few people about flowering time for the CJ and have come up with an 8 week cut, a 10 and a 12 week cut (flowering times). I suppose it could be the pheno, was wondering how long yours went. Did yours triple in size or was it more?

Thanks bro, later
Nice report Dr. Gruber
Thanks OGMan....gotta love the Irish!

I might have over looked it, but about how tall do those bitches get?
I topped mine and they got about 5.5 feet tall. Without the topping they probably would have gotten around 7 feet tall, but that also depends on how long you veg. I have a lot of vertical room to work with so I let them stretch out during veg, but Im sure i could have made them shorter by keeping the light closer and shortening the veg time.

May I ask what Nutrients you used to grow?????
Jacks Classic.

I used Fox Farm and some others before and had lots of leaf drop. I switched to Jacks Classic on the advice of Uncle Ben and Riddle Me from this site and no more leaf drop. Its inexpensive and works great...also very hard to burn plants with it. If you are interested look up riddle me...he has some serious grows with it.

Plant #1----5.19 oz's
Plant #2----2.96 oz's
Plant #3----2.91 oz's

Smoke Report (2-3 week dry and cure)

INFO-
Tester Name:
Dr Gruber, Assisted by Dr Sharpe.

Strain:
Doc Greenthumb Sour Diesel (East Coast S1)

Breeder:
Greenthumb Seeds
http://www.drgreenthumb.com/

Grower:
Dr Gruber

Method Smoked:
Joints, glass pipes and vape.

Soil/Hydro:
Soil

SMELL-
When you run over a fresh Skunk in your car, the smell is so strong it’s like burning rubber before the more familiar skunk smell settles in. That’s how this smells.

Dominant smell of bud:
Burnt Rubber/Fuel/Skunk

Associated smells of bud:
Earthy-skunk, skunk, and skunk.

TASTE-

Dominant flavor:
Fuel/Burnt Rubber/Skunk

Associated flavors:
Spearmint/pine

Harsh/smoothness: (1-10, 1 being extremely harsh and 10 being extremely smooth) --
8

- Cough factor? : Yes/no ---
Yes- This smoke is thick and it expands.

BUZZ-
Light up and watch the wallpaper move all by itself. This stuff is very trippy but it also has a couch lock like feeling when overdone. When used sparingly this is motivational pot but only for one task at a time, don’t bother trying to multitask, it isn’t happening. I did a wake and bake and went out in public and I felt like I did back in High School. My eyes were so heavy and everything looked so fuzzy that it felt like everyone had to know I was baked. It was fun!

How I rate potency-
I try to rate potency based on what type of Pot it is…Sativa or Indica, couch lock or energetic, etc.
I gave the Cindy a 9.5 based on it being the most energetic pot I’ve ever grown. I rate the SD the same 9.5 but it is by far a more “stony” smoke then the Cindy. It hits way harder and is more trippy but not as energetic. Hope this makes sense.

Profile—

Potency: (1-10, 1 being extremely weak and 10 being extremely potent)
9.5

Duration: (approx length of buzz, from first hit)
2-5 hrs

Use: Daytime/Bedtime --
Mostly bedtime but nice in the day when you have nothing to do. Take 2-hits for day time use, 4-hits or more for night time use.

Munchies: Yes/no----
Yes…and then some.

Comments-
Out of all the Greenthumb gear I have grown this is my favorite by far. Not as energetic as the Cindy but way more trippy, a perfect combo of sativa/indica effects, I like this one very much. This SD is as good or better then any I’ve smoked through the years. I can’t remember any SD that was better, but I can remember a lot that wasn’t as good, like the stuff I got a few months ago form a local dispensary. Not even close.
The smell and taste is so strong that it can’t be taken anywhere without stealth measures being used. Be careful to not transfer the sticky smell from fingers to jars or baggies when transporting it or the smell will be out of control. After harvesting them, the smell on my Caregivers clothes woke his wife up from a dead sleep.

When looking at the trichs with a scope, there are a lot, but not more then anything else I’ve grown. However, when dried, the buds seem to become one big trich, it’s hard to explain but these buds seem to snap when broken- like it was made of crystal. It’s not over dry…just perfect. The smoke is thick and pungent, perfect for joints or pipes and not bad in the Vape either.

Medical qualities:
Great for pain relief, appetite, and depression. I vaped some last night on a high temp because I had bad back pain and it was like a wave of warmth passed over me and I slept like a baby.
I will continue to test for other medical qualities.

Peace-DG
Great post doc!
I'm new to growing indoor, and never grew anything "name brand" outside before.
Just bag seeds stuff, or seeds I got from friends, nothing special.
I'm looking for a good strain or 3 to grow, and decided on C99 for one of them, and
was told by someone to check out Diesel. Besides it being a very good smoke, would
it be easy for a beginner to grow?

I think it would be a good one for a beginer if you keep a few things in mind.
1) she stretches out a lot so you have to have the vertical space to fit her.
2) Kind of nute sensitive..go with low doses and work your way up.
3)Very Stinky...you will need carbon filters to cover the smell.
4) Sd has a tendancy to throw male flowers...be on the lookout or you will seed your entire grow.
5) did i mention the smell...it is very heavy.

The c99 on the other hand is a very stealthy plant in that it does not throw alot of smell as she grows and the smell is so citrus like that people will mistake it for anything other then pot.But...you may have to keep an eye out for late "nanners" with this one as well.

Let me know what you go with, keep in touch and I will help in any way i can.

I figured just with the word "diesel" in it, it would be pretty smelly. I am legit, and I own my house, but I still do not want my house smelling
like fuel or weed. Nor do I want any nosy neighbors sniffing around. There are still people that think pot is a deadly drug. So, there will be a
carbon filter, and a few other measures too probably.
I just got my mmj card about a month ago, and some friends donated some lights and other stuff to me, nothing too big, just enough for me
to play in the garden until I get my actual set-up that will accommodate my legal limit, and I'm not sure on what kind of set-up I want yet, or
strains.

I have 6 rooted seedlings right now, not sure the strain, my friend gave me a handful of seeds of it, and the 6 seedlings in rock wool, I put them
in soil last night. I smoked some of it when my friend grew it, it was lemony, and pretty smooth. Some of the better stuff I have smoked in years.
I never realized how many strains there are, I have been looking at Attitudes site for a month now, so many to choose from. I wanted to try a
Cheese strain, but it seems like a more difficult plant to grow, from what I have read.

I think I am sold on the C99, but as for the others I'd like to try, I am undecided. Yield is important, but potency is more important. The more
potent it is, the more yield I am willing to give up. If that makes sense....

Have you ever tried any of Barney's Farm strains? Those seem pretty promising. I don't mind paying a little extra for better quality.

Apart from the Clone only strains i was growing when i lived out west i havent tried any other breeders then Dr Greenthumb. His stuff is on par or better then the stuff i had out west so i stuck with him. Im sure there are plenty of good breeders out there i just dont want to take chances when i know i have something great going with Greenthumb.
I know what you mean about the yeild vs potancy thing...for me its a taste vs yeild thing, it must taste great to stay in my garden, yeild is secondary.
The c-99 is potant but on a different scale, it wont knock you down, but it's trippy and you can smoke it all day and never burnout. The taste is Ok in a joint or bowl but when you vape it, it is second to none and overpowers anything else i vape. Extreme citrus taste, kind of lime/pineapple which can be passed off as something other then pot.

Hope you find what youre looking for and congrats on the MJ card.
Contact me anytime and i'll help if i can.

One of the strains I grow I'd like to have some "knockout" stuff, I have some pretty bad insomnia. Hell, I've been awake for going on 30 hours right now.
Pain relief is a must for at least one of the others I grow. Back pains, neck pains, arthritis, as I get older, I'm sure it will only get worse. And I'm only 34.

Well then, then Sd should work for you. It has a very complex high with a trippy uplifting effect which turns into a heavy coucklock type buzz if you smoke enough. It puts me to sleep and keeps me asleep which isnt easy because of the pains i have.
Doc has a few others like his Endless Skies which is reported to be a very heavy stone with first rate pain killing effects, and his Iranian G13, Iranian Auto, Millennium Bud and others are good for that also.
I just grew out his Big Purps which is really like speed for the first 2 hrs and then i crash heavy and want to sleep right after, and the taste is superb.

Thanks for all the info doc, definitely helpful.
I will visit Greenthumbs site, and see what he has and do more research. I still have a few months to decide, I don't want to rush
into anything, research first, do later.

i had some light leaks and i stresed the plant a bit and got some make flowers on my SD. it was probably about 4 weeks in when they showed up but i dont remember for sure. Then at the end I had a couple late nanners but i was on it and got them all...no seeds what so ever. Same thing with the C99...it was in the room with the Sd and the light leaks..had a few in late flower.
All the clones seem to be okay.
