DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Hey, Heisenberg! I've been reaping the benefits of your tea for weeks now, so I thought it was time to say thanks. Thanks! After many dwc grows experiencing root problems and having to use fucking ice bottles in each rez (sometimes twice a day! My friends were like, 'why the fuck do you have a thousand bottles of frozen water in your freezer?'), I can now grow in peace. No more bottles, rez temps in the mid-70s, plants and roots growing faster than I've ever seen. I learned though you that I needed 1 watt of air per gallon, that's twice as much as I was using, and after buying a couple of 950 gph pumps, the water is almost turbulent in every rez. My ladies and I are happy we stumbled across your thread, you really know your shit. I started off on Roseman's thread, too, and study dwc constantly. My question is, why aren't the benefits of bennies touted more in hydro forums? Hopefully this thread will help to change that...

P.S. I think Mike may have been in the truck because they were trying a new route, since their wasn't any meth in the truck :)
Glad the tea worked out for you! The slime problem seems to be confined mostly to deep or shallow water cultures, and has popped up more often as organic hydro nutes began becoming more available. My mentor grew ebb and flow for decades and never encountered it. When I was dealing with it, I wrote to dutch master who simply called it root rot and recommended Zone, which I was already using. Since DWC is best suited for small grows, the big boys don't seem to know about this slime either, or rather just have no interest in it. I found more info on the slime in aquarium and orchid growing communities.

My theory is that Gus is trying to import to mexico and since the truck was ambushed, they are taking Jesse down there to start their own lab and produce locally.

I've been using DWC exclusively for several years. I find that it is easier than other hydro methods, and produces very well. I used to use many different remedial products in my reservoir quite a bit to stay on top of the slime and other nasty micro-beasties. I probably spent over $50 monthly on Hygrozyme alone, which I'm sure many of you are familiar with and know that it's quite expensive and not always completely effective. The Heisenberg Beneficial Tea Formula(HBTF) is super cheap and completely effective. I'm pretty sure that the big nutrient companies would like to stop this info from being spread as it could severely cut into their profits. Problem free gardening is a beautiful thing!

I see, other forms of hydro don't really experience the slime. But there are multiple benefits of the bennies, and even in the DWC forums (where they go on about battling rez temps, using all of the sterilizing products out there), I don't see anyone talking about the benefits of EWC tea. If they had, the last few years of gardening would have been a LOT easier for me. It must have been amazing to have an actual mentor to teach you to grow, I had to make every newbie stupid mistake on my own (except telling anyone about growing, I've never told anyone as I don't trust anyone with my freedom). It's nice to finally have an outlet to discuss and vent about growing. Keep up the great work...

P.S. I think you're exactly right about Jesse: Mexico is dangerous and Jesse is expendable on his path of self-destruction, so it's a good move for Gus to get him away from local trouble and Walt without killing him directly...

Yes, it got expensive fighting this slime. It's a pleasure to have an easy method for keeping it at bay, with less maintenance and faster growth :)

Heh, I've actually seen my recipe (which I in no way invented, just developed) copied word for word on a couple other growing forums, and rarely do they give any credit. As long as it continues to eradicate slime, I am happy.

Your avatar is responsible for some of my life's most basic philosophies.

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

Yes, Tyler likes to keep things simple and in perspective :) I've been inspired from time to time by your Avatar, as well. I'm not surprised that your recipe is now being copied into other forums: I know you do what you do to help others, but it'd be nice if people were mature enough to give credit where it is due and throw you more rep (I consider myself pretty good with computers, but I haven't yet been able to find out how to send a 'like' to a post or to give a rep. Though smoking my dank doesn't enhance my analytical skills, either...)

Coming soon, Heisenberg's guide to using tea in a shallow water cloner. Typical results are 100% roots in under 10 days, no cloning products necessary. No dome, no spraying, no mold, no slime, and only needs attention every three days.

Freaking awesome! I've been wondering about application of the Heisenberg Tea with cloning. I currently use a plastic shoebox with neoprene inserts in the lid, two small airstones on the bottom along with Clonex gel and solution. Kiss two more pricy products goodbye! The tea is really becoming a grow panacea for me. Many, many thanks Heisenberg!!!

Can't wait! I've recently built two myself and just started a dozen seeds in them (rockwool cubes were soaked in full strength tea and ph adjusted). All popped and are going strong. I'm going to make bonzai mothers out of the biggest and baddest (gotta love Darwinism) and was going to try cloning (my first attempt, I've always started from seed) in the same shallow water cloners. Sounds like I'm not going to have to go through trial and error, as Sir Heisenberg has done this for me. Too bad RIU doesn't have PayPal, I'd send you donations for all the great info. I'll send you some rep as soon as I learn how...

Edit: I just found how to send rep, and sent some your way...

I haven't read all the posts on this thread yet so I'm not sure if anyone else has posted about it,, but I, for one, am going to be using the Heisenberg tea to enrich my soil. It is the next logical step for me, on the journey that started with me getting a really bad fungus problem. I started coming at it from the perspective of having a healthy soil ecology, and the issue immediately began to go away. I am just embarrassed that it took me so long to see that my indoor garden needs a healthy soil ecology.

At some point, I am going to swtich to Aero for cloning, and Aero/DWC for veg and flower, and your teachings will will make that whole thing go that much more smoothly. Thanks again, Heisenberg. I am looking forward to the cloner tea method.

Tyler, rep is given by clicking the little star right next to "Journal this Post https://www.rollitup.org/report.php?p=6098519" under a given persons post.

Lots of life lessons in Fight Club, btw. Most of the people who don't see that are bein "Space Monkeys"
Thank you, SaneLaws :) I was finally able to figure that out late last night when I stopped smoking my kush. My favorite Fight Club scene is when Tyler forces the convenience store proprietor into the alley and forces him to pursue his dreams at gunpoint, "Tomorrow morning, his breakfast will taste better than any meal you or I have ever tasted..."

Anyhow, another use for the tea that no one has brought up yet... pet messes. Pet urine, especially feline, can bond to fiber in a way that the color may come out, but the material that attracts bacteria which produce smell remains. To break this bond you need strong solvents or enzymes. If you make a tea with decomposers you have a superior product to those that brag about live bacteria and enzymes. Clean the area as best you can, treat with tea and cover to keep wet, then clean up again as normal, ideally with an extractor. Just like the store products, big messes may require several treatments. Any ruined clothes can be soaked in a bucket of tea for 2 days and then washed. All the 'bugs' in the tea are completely safe for humans, unless you are immunocompromised, in which case I doubt you have any pets.

by the way, we will be composting the cantelopes, and then using small bits of that compost in the brewing process. Maybe have a contest or something, "whose compost works better". (ahhh, back on topic)
