(You are WELCOME to post in this journal)

Hey guys, so I decided to do something kind of different with my journal. I'm starting this at mid Pre-Grow, the tent, lights, seeds, buckets, etc are all put together and I'm ordering the rest of supplies later this week.

I know when I was getting started putting together my first indoor grow there were a lot of questions that I had about what to get, where to get it, how to go about putting together the entire grow and what not. I'm new around here but hopefully this thread will shed some light on those topics for others. I'm going to explain briefly about each part of the grow and what not.
This is a medical grow, personal, so hope I do well cause I hafta smoke it all :eyesmoke:bongsmilie Let's break down the grow:

Tent (Pictures are with the lights on -- stealthy and CHEAP!)

36x20x62 Grow Tent Dark Room Hydroponic Box By Gyosupply, Gyo-1001

The tent is going into a closet that measures approximately 7 feet wide, 68" usable height, and 22" usable depth for stealth. I found a tent that fit pretty perfect, and I can buy a veg tent for my second grow halfway through this one to get some plants ready to move into the flowering tent once I have my light patterns down. It was $62.00 off Amazon with Prime and as far as I can tell, it's pretty sturdy, doesn't leak light (the zippers don't really close PERFECTLY at the top and bottom in the front but there is a piece of mylar fabric as a flap that I'm going to attach something to so that I can velcro them all the way closed. I doubt light could get in, but light barely sneaks out if you are sitting on the floor. It's literally a pin hole so I'm not worried about it.)

Lights

GE 6500k Cool Daylight 26w CFL x up to 8 (Starting with 2 or 4 for the first part of veg)
GE 2700k Warm White 26w CFL x up to 8 for flower as supplementals
240w Blackstar LED with custom spectrum:
8 - 460nm Blue
4 - 430 Blue
6 - 6500k White
40 - 630 Red
20 - 660 Red
1 - UV 380nm
1 - IR 730nm (I think 730)

Found the CFL lights at Walmart. I think the 6500k's were in boxes of 3 and were $8 or something and the 2700k came in a box of 6 for $11. I'll probably go back and get 6 more of each just to have extras.

For the socket, I bought a clamp light from Home Depot that's rated up to 660w and plenty of amps but not for the clamp or the shield. I unscrewed the ceramic socket, took off the shield and now I have a high quality ceramic socket to use with my lights. I may buy a $30 reflector to use with the CFLs, not sure. I then bought some of their white splitters that have the same rating. Theoretically, I could fit like 24 of these CFLs into one fixture on a ton of splitters, but I'm going to limit it to 4-8. Probably four, with the configuration you see in the pictures below.

Seeds
Nirvana Bubblelicious Regular x 10 (germing 3 probably)
Nirvana Snow White Feminized x 1

Buckets
I've got two all black 5 gal's and an all black 3 gal. I wanted to see if the 3 gallon would accomodate this space so if I get two females off the Bubblelicious seeds I'll put one into a 3 gal and one into a 5 gal and put the fem Snow White seed into the other 5 gal.

Supplies I'm Buying This Week
• Phresh 150 CFM filter
• Technaflora Nute Starter Kit (not using this early obviously but want to have them for when I need them)
• Black airline tubing
• Air pump
• PH/PPM testers
• Moisture content meter (going to attempt to create a very scientific curing process for indoor grown marijuana_
• 4 inch inline fan since tent is so small, only need 25 CFM to exchange once a minute
• Power strip with built in timer (or maybe just a power strip, and a timer, but this seemed convenient)
• Small desk fan for breeze to strengthen branches

I'm also in the air on medium. I'm probably going to use Coco chips, but I'm interested in using gravel as well. Totally open to input here. I see a lot of people use Hydroton and I don't know why I'm opposed to it, I just don't like the idea of it for some reason but maybe I'm just being really REALLY stubborn.

Rockwool cubes are cool but I'm not into PHing them so I'll probably use starter plugs or find something at the garden place in town to see what they have for that.

So finally, here's the rest of the pictures, lights on. The first measurements are outside the room before, and then inside about 20 minutes after lights on. Haven't done a full day test yet because well, without a fan it's kinda pointless I think.

Before lights on

20 minutes later (it says it's dropping still so I think with time the humidity will be perfect and controllable and have a thermostat in the room I can adjust because nobody lives in it right now)

And some pics of lights on

Hoping to crack seeds next week.

Anybody got tips on eye protection? That LED is flipping bright. Got a couple pairs of Oakleys/Maui Jims but the Jims aren't good vs the LED.

Go!

No plant action yet, but did buy 3 more 2700k and 3 more 6500k bulbs and another clamp light, so I've got two 4 bulb fixtures instead of one 8 bulb fixture.

More points of light = better so I figured that's good. Then when I switch on the LED I can dangle one on each end of the tent.

Buying a fan, nutes etc all that stuff listed in first thread today and it'll be here Tuesday. WEEEEEEEE

Actually HUGE update. I went to the garden store, and just said, fuck it, let's go.

Bought a tray, dome, got some hydroton and rockwool as well as jiffy pellets. Also got a $15 heating pad from Target, that's going to work to heat the bottomside of the greenhouse dome thing.

Expanded the pellets, threw in the seeds (2x Bubblelicious and 1x Fem Snow White) dropped a couple drops of warm water on each pellet to make sure the seed gets moist. Threw em on the pad, on low (as instructed by top grower at my dispensary) and off we go. Here's a picture of the tent with them in the dome and a picture of the control/pad/dome all kind of a little bit in the picture.

As soon as we see some sprouts I'll show you guys. Once they pop roots through the netting I'm going to rinse them off all the way with RO distilled water adjusted to PH, put em in the 6" netpots from the first post, and go. Let's rollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Really hoping I get a sweet pheno of the Bubblelicious...

Trying to get temps up to 78 degrees F in tent, and raise humidity in area. Will put one of the sensors inside the dome now duh I'm stupid.

Hopefully in 48-72 hours we'll see one girl and two mystery gendered plants. :weed:

After running the mat for awhile and turning heat up the humidity in the dome shot up to 95%+ and we had temps just above 70 degrees. That's far too cold imo, so I turned the heat in the room ALL the way up, and plugged in two 26w 6500k's and throw them about a foot from the dome. I'll keep an eye on the pellets to make sure they stay moist now that there's dry heat there, but the dome should keep a lot of moisture in.

I've always wondered why people said no lights until they germinate... they're IN the peat, and outdoors they would get light naturally... Let's see what happens.

Appreciate it. I think that I see a sprout already trying to push it's way up. Humidity is 85-90% and temperatures 75-80 degrees with two 6500k CFLs hanging about 1.5' above the tray. The pellets are still moist/damp on top. Think dome is working great.

Once I get sproutage I'll picture it up for sure.

Is it bad I keep checking on the tray like every two hours? lmao... eventually I'll see something!

EDIT:

Oh yeah, forgot to mention... today I bought:

• 4" aluminum flexible ducting
• Some S hanging hooks so I can easily adjust height of LED light by chain
• Earth Juice Natural Down pH adjuster (wanted something non liquid)
• TechnaFlora recipe for success kit
• ph Meter
• ppM meter

Day before I got rockwool and clay and all that jazz.

Set up buckets, will hook them up and take a picture of them bubbling maybe for fun tomorrow or something.

Oh come ON SEEDS!

Moved the seed plugs and greenhouse out into the room since the lights stay off most the day, and on top of the heating pad because I've got a clone coming in to the first bucket today. Got lights setup, temp check running and later today will fill with hydroton, plug in the pump and set that baby under the lights.

Probably pick one close to getting topped.

Nutrients show up on Wednesday along with PPM and PH meter, so for now it'll get straight tap water for a couple days and just have to survive hopefully? Maybe I won't transplant it into the bucket until the nutrients show up (more likely).

Back soon with pictures!

I'm finding something with clear zoom. Probably my HD handcam.

I think I have spotted life in the Snow White plug. This could be a monumental moment in my indoor career.

My. Oh. My. Trying to capture it.

Edit: Okay picture - I watch these things so much that I think this is something. Be it Snow white!

So, closely inspected all three plugs today. I removed the dome yesterday evening and have them under the 2 CFLs.

All three seeds have fat white tap roots, without disturbing the soil I was able to inspect them and find angles where I could see brite white.

So, I imagine by tomorrow morning, perhaps even this evening (one is splitting the plug) we'll have a sprout. 3/3 germ rate in Jiffy, in just over 48 hours, impressed. I'll do a write up probably and post it in the newbie area because I know this is one spot I was having a hard time with. I'll look em over and see if I can get a picture of some of the white action.

In other news, here's another project. Got some tulips and sunflowers going for my fiance to have something she can watch over and watch grow haha. Soon the sunflowers will get moved:

Wish I had a pot full of Bubblelicious... ah cmon just sprout so there's something real to watch lmao

BTW, you killing me smalls with the Snow White sprout pic! lmao
Lol after peeping in the tent just a bit ago the two bubblielicious plants are splitting the peat open and shoving towards the top fast. They'll be out tomorrow I'm sure or like at least saying hello. The Snow white seed is also pushing but she might be a couple more days.

I'm. So. Stoked.

Picking up a clone today as well so we'll have one just a bit ahead. Couple extra weeks of veg never hurt

EDIT: CONFIRMED. Just checked and all three seeds have made monumental progress when I peeked in. Snow White has buried a huge tap root and is coming up with the seed still attached, other two are pushing through surface and I can barely see white/green.

By lights off tonight I think that I'll have my first pictures of one confirmed girl and two other hopefully girls!

Oh yeah, picture time! My babies are born!

Right into the Jiffy pellet, no paper towel, dome for a day to keep humidity high, dome off, lights on them and at around 65 hours we're sprouting. All 3 are above ground, and you can see a picture of the Snow White struggling to shed it's shell as well.

Individual photo order: Bubblelicious 1 (B1), Bubblelicious 2 (B2) and Snow White (S1).

Since we know Snow White is a girl (fem) I guess it's time we name her... I'm going with Sabrina. The other two don't get names until they show sex imo.
3/3.

Pray I get two females off the Bubblelicious for a perfect first lucky grow! bongsmilie

Updated pictures... The middle one (B2) is just over an inch tall, other two 3/4".

Earlier I got impatient for Sabrina and popped the seed off. I could see some kernel holding onto the cotyledon really hard so I popped it off and she's starting to stand up straight already.

Day 5 is going to be exciting. B2 has it's first set of real leaves coming in fast, so does B1. See if Sabrina catches up.
