Elderbox Bugs.. have MASSIVE infestation. What to do??

We have a massive issue with Elderbox bugs. They are about 1/2 inch long, 6 legs, black bodies with red X on the back. I have looked them up & they are harmless other than they are annoying & there are thousands of them. They collect on the tree in the back yard & on the side of the house. Im going to spray them this weekend. I find them in my plants but everything I;ve read says they're harmless, except there are so many of them.

Anyone have any experience with them & what I should do about them?

Advise would be appreciated.

pyrethrins also work great for most bugs. safe for plants too.
