Expert smokers, help please

I'm looking for advice from seasoned smokers. I bagseed grows under me from and it's time to order. I have a 4x4x7 box so height isn't a big problem. All I have available to smoke is trash brick and over priced mid. I don't know where to start In the genetic pool. There are so many options. I don't care if it's a pure strain. I just want a stable pheno. I'm looking for 2-4 strains that I can use as a bar. I know I want one good indica and one sativa dominant. Any great strains? Top 3-5 would be great.

1. Remember, 7 ft high isn't all that much after you hang a light and allow for some room between the plants and the light.

2. You want advice from "seasoned growers", not seasoned smokers.

3. Go thru the forums under grows and study, read and study up some more. You will get 1,000 different suggestions. 90% of them are bullshit- the key is to find honest and detailed reviews. That can be tough as nails sometimes, unless u get lucky.

4. Lastly, do your own homework. Don't expect people on here to make it easier for you because most likely, you'll be disappointed. I probably spend 10 hours researching a strain- going to no less then 4 or 5 different sites- and reading as much as I can before deciding on a new strain. You should too.

Try here and opengrow.com, icmag.com, medicalmarijuanastrains.com, uk420.com......and few hundred others. Just do a google search and go from there. Good luck!

No, I don't need advice from growers. I can handle that. I'm just looking for real information from real experience. I've sifted through hours and hours of smoke reports and reviews. Rarely do I see someone say the smoke was mediocre. I just hear a lot of this shit is great! Compared to what? Mexican brick? I have a list and if I can get a few people to agree on a few of them then I'll give it a shot.

I love skunky weed so I'd go with chem family genetics. OG kush sour diesel chemdawg. Lots of offerings out there.
Can't go wrong with some bubba
And personally I love blueberry although I haven't grown any in a while. Peakseeds northernberry has a great coffee blueberry taste yummy

Super lemon haze is on my list along with lemon diesel. Any experience with that one? I'd like a very lemony strain later down the road. Any favorites?

Blueberry has been one I've wanted to try for 10 years. How is the high? I hate anything that makes me feel paranoid or anxious. Is there a group I should stay away from?

I'd love to do a c99 sog but I keep getting mixed reviews on breeders. The only smoke I've tried with a legitimate name was white widow and it fried my skull. Black widow I know is the original, but it doesn't mean it's the best IMO. Is there a stable pheno I should look for?

In past experience I've linked "kush" to being ripped off. It sounds all too gangster to me. So, finding out it is a great family, I'm now confused. Does OG kush live up to its hype?

SLH is awesome but slow to finish, but worth the time.

Check out skywalker OG Kush from reserva privada, however they spell it. Finishes in reasonable amount of time, smells and tastes like some super official sour diesel. Seems stable.

Responding to above:

-I'm not really sure what that other poster was talking about. 7 feet high is PLENTY high, and most commercial growers generally won't take plants that high indoors. If you can't get it done indoors in that space, you can't get it done, period, and that includes really stretchy long-flowering sativa-type plants.

-Super Lemon haze has a rep of being hermie-prone for what its worth.

-Yes, OG Kush earned its reputation by being both highly potent and tasty. You could definitely do worse. That one also has a tendency to go hermie if stressed, so watch out.

-Contrary to popular belief, seeds from Mexican commercial brick can give great plants, far better than the schwagg they were taken out of, if you show them the proper love,

-IMO, no need to go crazy picking the "latest greatest" strains. Any of the multiple award-winning famous strains that go back 20 years will typically be relatively easy to grow, pest and disease resistant, decent yield and potency: Northern lights, AK-47, Skunk #1 (and variants), Bubblegum, Blueberry, Jack Herer, White (black) widow, etc.

If you've grown out bag-ceeds to harvest a few times, you're probably ready to grow just about anything. Just find a strain from a reputable breeder that interests you and go for it.

Recommended strains, all my opinion from my specific grows posted here and other places:

IN no particular order:

Sweet Seeds "Green Poison" or "Sweet Cheese"

Reserva Privada "OG Kush #18"

Top Dawg "Super Star Dawg" or "Purple Star Dawg"

Breeders Choice "Anesthesia" or "Cheeseberry Haze"

Dinafem "Industrial Plant" (Northern Lights)

Sannies "Herijuana" or "Jack" (Jack Herer knockoff)

G13 Labs "Pineapple Express"

You will be very happy with the results with any of these if grown properly.

I've grown numerous C99's and Apollo 11's, but especially Mosca's and was never really happy with any of them. If you grow a Blueberry, stick with D.J. Shorts- but it's touchy and is more for experienced growers, produces some mutants and deformities but the strain is great for taste and mood enhancement.

Lastly, everyone thinks they are a great grower so they don't easily admit the smoke didn't turn out wonderful. It's human nature. Look for multiple grows with similar success to gain a comfort level on a strain. One grow claiming success doesn't mean shit IMO....

Sorry, but 7 ft. ain't shit for height for any decent sativa or sativa leaning hybrid......... If you figure 1 foot for the shield, and depending on your light- I use 1000 HP's- the plants need to be at least 1.5 ft. below that or they'll burn- leaving around 4.5 ft. which isn't much at all really. You can top and train them, or just bend the crap out of them- and they'll be fine but 7 ft. still isn't an ideal height for anything but a short indica. And forget bag seed because you don't really know the growth pattern of the plants- only the final quality and looks of the product. Buy some decent seeds with a history and some pre-knowledge, and you'll be better off in the long run......

i'm not into indicas at all, but DNA sour cream is at least crazy delicious with a buzz that's more functional than heavier afghani dominants. the buzz doesn't inspire me as much, but it has nice euphoria and doesn't knock you out. it's buzz is similar to blueberry and skunk #1, but much better tasting. blueberry is OK, but the flavor is weak to me the 2 times i've scored it. it's like getting a single grain of blueberry sugar on your tongue where sour cream tastes like cream cheese with subtle hints of sweet fruit and ISN'T watered down.

C99 is OK, especially if you want the fastest harvest possible, but it's euphoric energetic buzz is too one dimensional to me. it's not the kind of "sativa" (and i use the term regarding effects and not genetic balance) you can kick back and trip out on tunes or movies on, BUT it's good for work and activities. if your job bores the fuck out of you, it will perk you up like coffee, but without the jitters, at least joey weed's extinct "textbook C99 high" version. other breeders have selected for more psychoactivity. after trying it, i'd go more for her mellower and trippier son apollo 11 for a more balanced buzz with the psychoactivity that amplifies reality like real sativas do.

i LOVE jack's cleaner 2! it's my current favorite, and i see why so many love TGA subcool gear now. it has some body thump stone, but not KO level, but it has a nice complex THC profile to balance it. it has awesome euphoria and the stone gives you a literal warm & fuzzy feeling with it's mid-stone, but that's not even the best part. it's REALLY cool because of the touchy feely part of the high that makes you want to touch yourself. it must be awesome for sex! short stuff's onyx is the only other strain i've encountered that fun effect in and it's more energetic, but diesel flavor is an abomination to me and i just hate it. the really cool part though is that it has awesome psychoactivity for a 9 week strain! i started laughing my ass off once i realized the imaginary invisible ripples of tie dye color where i was massaging my arms was a visual effect that was the strongest i've experienced short of going back to the 80s and smoking real columbian gold again.

sannie's jack f7 might be even more sativa leaning and takes a few weeks more, but regardless, he's a top breeder whose gear is almost universally admired and it's considered one of the top two versions of herer. i want to try it myself and compare it to my current favorites. it's only $50 too compared to it's $225 sensi seeds' rival some call the best. i'm keen to try TGA subcool's third dimension next to see how it compares, but what i've read says his jack the ripper is one of the trippiest "indoor sativas" you can grow along with sannie's equally evil named killing fields

i love me some stretchy, but 9 week finishing DNA sweet haze! it blew several more generic and clearheaded "fruity hazes" i've sampled out of the water by having at least a modest amount of true psychoactivity along with being stickier and fruitier than the rest. i'm sure there's better in longer flowering hazes, but 9 weeks isn't shabby for that quality where most of the other "hazes" i've smoked have been more like C99 with less energy than a real haze which is supposed to be trippy.

haze x skunk is only $28 at high quality seeds, but is stretchy and takes 12 weeks, but it has real psychoactivity and is super potent! my 1st female wasn't as trippy or visual as columbian gold used to be, but it didn't turn stony like skunk #1 & columbian do after a month of wake & baking either. it's super motivational and long lasting. it literally saved my life from choking on beer burps every morning as well as put me on a diet by ignoring hunger pangs. it doesn't have the same complexity and flavor of sweet haze and cleaner 2, but it kicks much ass in potency. blue dream might be a similar high comparing notes with growers of that, but i'm sure it at least tastes better unless you think cheesy cigar wrappers taste good and some people actually DO like blunts.

8 miles high is an awesome friendly high that's perfectly energy neutral and that has plenty of playful euphoria. it's not unlike a generic haze, except it has more psychoactivity and a really cool "precise body control" effect that's awesome for dancing and i bet sports. very 24/7 noob friendly. i like it because it's perfect for almost any occasion without the potency bite that haze skunk has when you test it's limits and start getting into room spinning dizzies that aren't fun at all.

if you want a PRODUCTIVE generic fruity haze, john sinclair's sativa trans-love buds like a mofo and would leave all of my favorites in the dust at least out the starting gate for budding. it's closer to what i was expecting from C99 as it has a light psychoactivity. sweet haze tastes better and has a better buzz, but it's slower flowering and stretchier. it's a choice between quality and quantity there, though STL takes a week or two longer to finish

a stonier and not at all shabby herer is CH9's jack. it wasn't as trippy as JC2, but it's really compact and indica looking and fast finishing making it a good choice for productivity. whatever indica's in it really gave it nice potency. i was all set to hate it when i saw how fat assed it looked, but it's not stinky and the buzz is potent, euphoric and functional. it's an awesome mid that's more like what skunk #1 SHOULD smoke like but doesn't. awesome mid. i intend to test it a second time as it kind of got overshadowed by better smoking sweet haze and JC2, but neither has as compact and cash cropping a stature. i'm trying their jack 33 too as it's supposed to be laugh your ass off euphoric and it's jack sibling isn't shabby in that department either.

another nice mid is DNA's lemon skunk. it's not as stony as skunk #1 and has a nice mild lemony taste along with nice golden pistils that make it look like it has a golden glow that's very sexy and suited to it's flavor. if only weed on the street were THAT good, i wouldn't have so much indica contempt. it's not a favorite, but it does have top to bottom quality, unlike, say, white strains that are so obsessed with resin that they suck in the flavor department and can smoke harsh and stony. i want to breed it with lemony and hopefully trippy ass malawi gold for something tastier and maybe even trippier than the skunk #1 based haze skunk i do like.

sorry i can't help much with the indicas, but i'm sure there's all kinds of OG kush etc. recs here. for getting high though, these are the best strains i've tried SO FAR and i'm always happy to hear anyone's suggestions for better, but never get them other than from a couple elite IBL growers slinging gear like panama, golden tiger & satori.

BTW, if you're MORE concerned with quality over quantity, DON'T use cash crapper tech and grow under nothing but sodims for more yield! full spectrum halides allow for fuller terpene expression, and are especially preferred for sativas. that's why dr atomic has a "metal haze" and Dj shorts recommends them. i'm positive that the first lamp i used, my 400w halide was why i was getting grape notes out of LSD, joey weed C99 and ESPECIALLY my short stuff super cali haze freebie that i got just generic fruity notes out of under the sodium i bought next for a 50:50 setup in my SCH x C99 cross. i'm ONLY using halides from now on as i'm only growing for head stash. cervantes was right in his awesome late 80s indoor marijuana horticulture book that kicked 2 other giudes' i had asses combined and was decades ahead of it's time predicting SCROGging when sea of green was all anyone did. sodiums run redder and hotter which degrades THC while halides get closer to UV which helps with THC. i like loose and fluffy buds that are easier to break apart anyways, especially if they taste better and are less stony.

EVERY shortcut you take for bigger and faster yields lowers quality. you want that real old school sativa high, put some love in your garden. SOME DAY, i'll tackle a 15 week plus IBL or haze, but you can get awesome highs in as little as 9 weeks.
