does anyone know if a fan/filter combo such as this one http://cgi.ebay.com/New-MTN-Hydroponic-6-Inline-Duct-Fan-Carbon-Filter-Kit-/250850341059?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a67d870c3 is worth buying, or is just another cheap/worthless package deal?
Its more than likely a waste of money, But i have no idea as iv never heard of that make let alone read any reviews, The fan looks quite wicked tho lol.
For the extra money just stick with RVK fans and Rhino filters.
Probz not the answer you wanted, Just my opinion.

grow room is the dr120, dont know how hot it will get. I'm about 3 wks from harvest on my first grow right now, using t5s and cfls. will be switching to a 400hps for flowering on my next grow. 4 plants, LST'ed this time, thinking either that or maybe sog/scrog for next time. not sure yet.

as for this, i appreciate any and all answers that help me save money and not make poor decisions.

Are you planing on getting an intake fan ? It will help alot. I have that size tent, I also do 4 plants, But i use a 600w light, I have a 5" RVK L1 fan for extraction and a 5" RVK A1 fan for intake, And i have no heat issue wot so ever, Even in the summer, I have both fans wired to a primair speed controller so in the winter i can throttle the fans back and in the summer i can run them accordingly.

I have no knowledge on the fan/filter your looking to buy tho so i cant really say if it will be good enough, But i can tell you if you brought 2x 6" RVK fans you would have no probz.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap filter aswell a few grows back and it didnt last til the end of the grow, Im not saying that filter is crap im just saying be careful as the last thing you want to be doing is changing you filter mid grow :)

Its often said that you should be weary opf buying carbon (carboin filters) from Ebay as you cannot tell spent , used carbon from fresh. Like alot things you get what you pay for, I took the approach of reasearching the product I wanted and then scoured the internet up and down for the cheapest prices. Then you here people saying you need supplemental odor protection and I wonder, what brand -good,cheap,unknown, the area it is scrubbing, how it is installled, ect.
I went with products that have solid reviews and warranties. 6in Vortex fan, comes with 10 year warranty. 6x24 (there is a smaller think it is 6x12 but it is not rated for the 6in h.o. vortex fan) carbon filter by Phresh. They use crushed carbon vs. pellet carbon which mades for less leaks past the material and more surface area to scrub the particles from the air.
Needless to say I can stand right at the exhaust and stick my nose in it and not smell anything :)

On a side note: High humidity levels will kill the life span of carbon.

i'd rather pay a few extra bucks for something that will work better and last longer. im gonna hit up the hydro shop tomorrow and see what that guy recommends.

And unfortunately, i live in a very hot, humid place. but as of right now i only have a makeshift intake fan and more of a passive outtake in a 3x3x4 box, and my RH stays between 43-53%. this whole ventilation thing has been on my mind for a while and i really can't decide how i wanna run things.
