I love Zin as well ... had some Ridge bottlings that were truly their own thing. I don't drink it much any more however, because many CA Zins have caught "Cabernet Disease" and are, to my tastes, overoaked. cn
Yea it's funny how it's become a run away favorite. Growers are filling their vinards with it. It takes so long to estabolish vines, I wonder if they'll regret it if something else becomes what the people want.

Is it a hassle to grow your own veggies?

Ive been intersted to grow my own organic veggies after seeing food inc

i'm right there with cn.. i love raw green peppers, well any bell pepper really, and like raw onions as well.. but like i said, not much of a fan of them once cooked..

i always grow a veggy garden every year.. lots and lots of tomato's.. i hate tomato's, lol, but i love fresh salsa made from them, ketchup is good, i just don't like the texture of say a sliced tomato i guess..

nah man, having a veggy garden is super easy.. stuff usually grows on it's own once it gets established.. i just put down something to prevent weed growth in the spring, water every day, feed them once in awhile, and have had great luck..
been growing veggies for about the past 10 years or so.. this year is my worst grow to date... but in lil to no effort in early spring, and it shows.. it's rather depressing.. i'll just have to do better next year..

Best Barbecue in the world is a place in Kansas City, MO. called Jack Stack Barbecue

Place will make a vegan eat
Doubtful.... :-P

My favorite restaurant is a little hole-in-the-Wall on the Drag (Not THE Hole In The Wall, btw) in Austin called Veggie Heaven.

Taiwanese Vegetarian/Vegan.

Protein 2000; spicy, with white rice. And a fried spring roll.

Awesome. Simply awesome.

They used to give out handouts to the local homeless dudes, until the local government said they could not do that any more.

darn local government. this is why i oppose GOP led efforts to reduce government to the most local, limited level possible

anyhoo, just thought i'd throw that barb in there.

best restaurant in the world is on 4th and burnside here in portland. "good taste china restaurant". it's the one with the ducks and pigs hanging in the window, about 8 dirty tables, and always packed with people who speak no english. to order, us english speakers just have to point.

Actually, it's the state level.

And that's what the U.S. Constitution set forth.

You got a problem with that? :-|

So the local government in Austin prohibits restaurants feeding the homeless. That's a local issue.

What's your solution?

FEDERAL intervention? What makes you think the Federales would do ANYTHING different?

I have a decent number of places that I like to eat at, but for the sake of ease I'll just mention my favorite Chinese food. In the po-dunk college town of Corvallis Oregon is a small place called "China Blue". So good. They have a mix of traditional and contemporary foods. The best thing on the menu, and something you must try if for some reason you are ever there, is the Hazelnut Chicken...mouth watering. Their sweet and sour sauce is also the best I've had, but if you can only get one, go hazelnut.

There is also a surprisingly awesome Thai food place in the even more po-dunk town of Philomath to the west of Corvallis called "The Woodsman", pretty damn good, but I would take China Blue over that place any day.

On a slightly different note. If you're ever in a steak house or wherever (in America) and they try to lie to you and say they have Kobe beef, make sure you don't get suckered into paying the higher price for the Faux-be beef. It is against the law in America to import beef products from Japan, and has been for quite some time, therefore unless you were in Japan...or a country where Japanese beef imports are legal, you have probably never actually had Kobe beef. I got suckered myself one time a while ago before I knew this fact. Also, while we're discussing Kobe beef, there is better beef to be had in Japan, and there is comparable if not better stuff in America.
