Female pollen

I prefer running regs myself but I make feminized pollen to make feminized seeds for friends that just want to grow bud and have no desire to deal with males. I'm the opposite. I sometimes search for good males and actually grow out regular seeds and kill the females when I'm making a cross and just want male pollen.
yea that's more than fine its just more I'm stuck up and want something I know is 100% stable like I'm running a mcc from exotic and so far all of them have been pretty good but that's prob because I got regs and I already bred them with a male to make some f3's gonna be nice for me.Hella beans.

up to u I'm a firm believer that femming a plant causes the offspring to become genetically inferior with adding hems into the mix imo. that's why I go the extra mile just to breed them how their suppose to be in nature. :P
I'm not doubting you, as I don't have enough experience to debate much on most subjects related to growing. I'm just curious as to what options are out there that would be easier for my personal grow

if u want straight bud and not to worry about sorting thru males go fems but if u want to go the route of finding something banging and u want to keep it go regs and start cloning what I do I usually take a nice chunk off a solo cup plant and clone it and I throw that cup into flower to know if its a male or female and I just will throw them back into veg and repot them up. works pretty good for me just a pain in the ass watering 30+ solo cups......

That's why I use IBL's or landraces. I like starting with stable genetics. Many people start with hybrids where you don't know what the seeds will turn out to be because the genetics have a dozen different strains in the background. But you can also find quite a bit of diversity in landrace strains as well. I really like ACE genetics for breeding. Much of their stuff has been bred for over a decade. I've made crosses using ACE genetics and have had very little diversity between the offspring. I have a cross I've worked to F4 but the F3's were all so similar. None of this 10 different pheno stuff.

I'm doing a perpetual grow and I like to keep an auto in the veg tent to help out when I encounter an issue. If I had female pollen, I could be able to make seeds and keep that up for a lot less $$. I was just curious as to if places sold the pollen because I only have 1 auto seed left and if it fails, or I fail at making pollen/seeds I'm going to have to order more. We all know you can't stop at buying just 3 seeds

what is your definition of perpetual mine is having a cloning tent for solo babies a veg tent and a flower room I need to get more veg space that's going to happen most likely fall

I have a flower tent 2x3 and a veg tent 2x2. I have a spot for cloning as well. Trying to get a 3 week offset with flowers

i still say cloning Is the best way to go imo find something u like and keep growing it
That's what I did, for years and years,,,til powdery mildew took everything out....Now starting fresh and hoping to NOT buy any more seeds EVER!! But yeah, you gotta start somewhere.

I wrote a post about differing perpetual cycles. Included is a "9 Week Cycle, 3 Week Veg" section which shows a schedule where you'd harvest every three weeks.

You can read through the thread here: https://rollitup.org/t/anatomy-of-a-perpetual-grow-cycle.1007130/
I screwed up a bit several weeks back as I underestimated how fast the blue dream would grow and my stingy ass wouldn't kill one. Now I'm 4-5 weeks out on next chop, then 3, and should be able to maintain 3 for a while if I don't drop the ball

Is it accurate to say that with STS, you only need to dose the plant once? I've been using CS for years to make pollen. However, even though I make my own, with CS, you have to spray daily for up to three weeks (or even more in some cases). Doing entire plants uses a lot of CS.

I'm about to do another pollen run, and am considering making a batch of STS to test out.
I've tried both CS and STS and have to agree with @xtsho , STS is the way to go. You can get away with spraying just once at the beginning of flower, but it's recommended that you hit the same buds again 4 days later. Here are the directions for mixing:

I know all too well about those types of issues :)

Trust me, you'll eventually get to the point where you have no problem culling good plants to hit your peak canopy efficiency in the flower tents.

I agree that cloning will give you dependability. It does not however give you variety. I cloned the same strain for years and every grow was the same. There was no wondering what to feed or how much. You can dial in a grow using the same strain and have great success every time. I just got bored and since I no longer sell anything I am more interested in variety and dabbling in breeding. But if you're going for a high yield money grow then definitely find a good strain and clone it. I just find growing different strains more rewarding and exciting these days. But I'm not knocking cloning at all. It just depends on the reasons you grow. I'm more into trying and making new strains than growing for bulk these days. I don't need much and even with the diminished yields I've been getting lately from my various projects and growing smaller plants to make seed I still have more than I need and give most of it away.

That's how I'm looking at it. I don't sell any, I just growing enough for myself and a friend. I like to have variety on the shelf. Cloning is the only way I have to keep a strain, but it complicates things when I have 2-3 strains going. I eventually have to let one fade out

I've let great pheno's die out without taking clones just making seeds. Sure the seed might not be as good but it might be better. Another great strain will come along. There is definitely some stuff I've grown that I wish I still had but I forget about that when I'm smoking a bowl of some cross I made that tastes delicious and gives me a great high. I'm not that sentimental when it comes to weed. Variety is the most important thing for me. Different tastes, different highs, are all more important to me than things like THC count or bag appeal. bongsmilie

Exactly. That's why I need to get the pollen thing worked out. I can add a new strain and make seeds for a later date
